Chapter 447: Chapter 446: Jiang Zuo?

Since they were going to buy another TV now, Jiang Zuo was worried he’d be recognized.

But on second thought, it didn’t seem like a big deal. At worst, it just meant he was a bit of a spendthrift, and Su Qi would take her anger out on Sweet Potato and the others anyway.

Just as Jiang Zuo was thinking it wasn’t a big deal, Su Qi spoke again. "Oh, right, an egg appeared at home. How come you never told me?"

Jiang Zuo froze for a moment before replying, "Duan Qiao fished it up. It has nothing to do with me. Besides, I haven’t had time to tell you, and when I did, I forgot."

Su Qi said, "Don’t you think it’s an incredibly powerful egg?"

Jiang Zuo answered honestly, "I can’t tell."

Su Qi: "..."

Then Su Qi added, "But it’s cracked now, so maybe it’s not so powerful anymore. Whatever. The balcony is full of all sorts of junk anyway. As long as it doesn’t affect us, it’s fine."

As for Dandan, Su Qi had asked Duan Qiao about it when she got back.

That’s how she knew Dandan was a Sure-Hit Egg.

As for why it had cracked, Duan Qiao didn’t say.

It could hardly say that her husband had gotten bored, tapped it for fun, and cracked it, could it?

Jiang Zuo glanced at Sweet Potato and the others one more time. Once he was sure they couldn’t get out, he ignored them.

Jiang Zuo might not have cared, but Su Qi did.

"I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave them there," Su Qi said.

Jiang Zuo was confused. "What’s wrong with it?"

Su Qi pointed at Sweet Potato. "Look, Sweet Potato’s eyes are open. That means it can see us."

Jiang Zuo looked at Su Qi, waiting for her to continue.

Su Qi said, "Sweet Potato is still little. It could pick up bad habits—you know, from our spats. Besides, we’re bound to get intimate at home sometimes, and it’s not good for a child to see that."

’That sounds pretty good,’ Jiang Zuo thought. ’This way, we’ll have to restrain ourselves a bit.’

However, Su Qi had no intention of letting her wonderful life be disrupted, so she went over to move the blocks of ice.

She even called out to Jiang Zuo, "Come and help. We’ll each take two."

Since Su Qi had spoken, Jiang Zuo had no choice but to help move the ice blocks outside.

In the end, the ice blocks were placed on the balcony, directly inside the sink.

"There, that’s better," Su Qi said with a smile.

Duan Qiao, meanwhile, kept its head down and stayed off to the side.

’This just goes to show,’ it thought. ’You can provoke anyone else in this house, but never the mistress.’

’Absolutely terrifying.’

’Especially since that Great Demon hangs on her every word. If you die by the mistress’s hand, there’s really no chance of survival.’

Once they were done, Su Qi clapped her hands and pulled Jiang Zuo inside to have a proper meal.

They still had to go buy a TV later. The sooner they finished up, the sooner they could get home and rest.

"Do we have to buy the exact same TV?" Jiang Zuo asked while they were eating.

Su Qi nodded. "It’ll feel weird if it’s different. What’s the matter? Tired of the old and ready for the new?"

Jiang Zuo replied helplessly, "It’s called an upgrade."

"I’m old, too. So, do you want to trade me in for an upgrade?" Su Qi asked, looking at Jiang Zuo.

Jiang Zuo just ignored her. She was just trying to pick a fight.

Su Qi didn’t seem to mind. Instead, she handed the steamed bun she’d taken two bites out of to Jiang Zuo. "This isn’t good."

Jiang Zuo: "..."

’If it doesn’t taste good, can’t you just throw it away?’

Nevertheless, Jiang Zuo took the bun. "As I recall, you’ve never liked steamed buns, not even when you were little. Why do you take a couple of bites and give it to me every now and then?"

"I’m trying to see if steamed buns have gotten any tastier, or if my own tastes have changed," Su Qi said, peeling an egg. "It’s a shame. After all these years of trying, steamed buns are still just as awful."

Jiang Zuo didn’t know what to say. He decided it was best to just eat in peace.

Just then, Su Qi seemed to think of something. She sat down next to Jiang Zuo and whispered, "Honey, we’re not running out of money, are we?"

"Why would you think that?" Jiang Zuo asked.

"Because you used to go along with whatever I wanted to buy. Now you’re unhappy about me buying the same TV, so there must be a reason," Su Qi said.

Jiang Zuo sighed. "Because I just bought one a couple of days ago."

Su Qi: "???"

Jiang Zuo said, "In other words, this isn’t the first time they’ve smashed the TV."

Su Qi: "..."

Then Su Qi said, "Let’s give them to my Senior Sister. Raising these ducks is like raising a husky. Next time, they’ll tear the whole house down."

Jiang Zuo said, "That’s not necessary. It’ll be fine as long as they stay just like they are now."

Su Qi thought about it and agreed.

Then she added, "So, do we have the money? And you didn’t go to work again today. Come to think of it, you’ve hardly worked at all these last two months."

"We have money. Anyway, you don’t need to worry about it." Jiang Zuo didn’t want to discuss it further. Saying too much might expose the fact that he wasn’t working anymore.

Naturally, Su Qi didn’t press the issue. She usually didn’t bother with such things. After all, she was so low-maintenance, he could definitely support her.

If worst came to worst, they could sell Sweet Potato. Her Senior Sister would surely buy it for a high price. After all, it was a Holy Beast.

Most importantly, you could use Sweet Potato as bait to fish for other Holy Beasts for fun.

After breakfast, Su Qi and Jiang Zuo went out to buy a TV.

They went to the same appliance store as last time.

As soon as they walked in, a saleswoman approached Jiang Zuo. "Welcome. What can I help you two with?"

Jiang Zuo said flatly, "A TV."

The saleswoman maintained her professional smile. "The TV section is this way. I’ll take you over there."

When they had come last time, someone had also led the way, but it hadn’t been this woman.

He realized he needn’t have worried at all.

But as the woman led the way, she kept stealing glances at Jiang Zuo.

Jiang Zuo didn’t think much of it. As long as she wasn’t trying to get close to him, he didn’t care if she looked; he would just ignore her completely.

But while Jiang Zuo didn’t care, Su Qi certainly did.

’Staring at my husband, and so brazenly too?’

’Can’t she see I’m holding his arm? To keep staring like that... isn’t that a provocation?’

Su Qi wondered if she should send this woman to the hospital tonight.

All the way to the TV section, the saleswoman continued to sneak glances at Jiang Zuo.

It wasn’t until they reached the TV section that the woman finally ventured, "Jiang Zuo?"

Jiang Zuo looked completely baffled. "???"

’Who is this woman?’

Su Qi was surprised, too. Why did this woman know Jiang Zuo?

Then she turned to Jiang Zuo, her face full of questions. If they were at home, she would have already started interrogating him.

Su Qi had practically grown up with Jiang Zuo. It had been ten years since junior high.

In those ten years, Su Qi knew almost everyone Jiang Zuo knew. Now, a beautiful woman she didn’t recognize had suddenly appeared.

Of course, Su Qi had to get to the bottom of it.

Facing Su Qi’s stare, Jiang Zuo felt helpless. He didn’t know this woman either.

Jiang Zuo glanced at the saleswoman. Her looks were... well, it didn’t matter what she looked like. As long as she wasn’t Su Qi, it made little difference to him.

Finally, Jiang Zuo spoke. "Who?"

There was no discernible emotion in Jiang Zuo’s voice, nor did he try to use his words to cover anything up.

For example, when someone calls you by name but you can’t recognize them, you would normally feel a little awkward.

You would then come up with all sorts of excuses, explaining that you didn’t mean not to recognize them, before humbly asking who they were.

That’s what would normally happen, but Jiang Zuo’s reaction was anything but normal.
