My Wife Might Be a Saintess

Chapter 671: The Quick-witted Duan Qiao

After that, Jingyue and the others headed in a direction devoid of powerful Spirit Beasts.

Su Qi asked Jingyue, “Senior Sister, this place seems huge. How are we supposed to find that Dragon?”

Jingyue said, “The Dragon didn’t say. I guess we’ll have to rely on luck.”

Su Qi was speechless. “So if we can’t find it, does that mean we’re stuck here forever?”

Jingyue looked at Su Qi and said, “Why don’t you have the baby here first?”

Su Qi: “…”

Jiang Zuo: “…”

Jingyue glanced at them, then shrugged. “Don’t actually consider it. Getting pregnant isn’t that easy. Just wait obediently for your advanced training. As for finding the Dragon, we can just find a sentient Spirit Beast and ask.”

Su Qi asked, “Senior Sister, based on what you’re saying, once this thing with me is taken care of, can I go into seclusion somewhere the Holy Land can’t find me? That way, I could be with my husband forever, right?”

Jingyue looked at Su Qi as if she were an idiot.

Su Qi said, “Senior Sister, you’re looking at me like that again.”

Jingyue looked ahead and continued walking. “Because you’re being silly,” she said. “Why live like a rat scurrying through the streets when you could have a perfectly good life? Perhaps…”

Jingyue turned back, a devastatingly beautiful smile on her face. “Perhaps, after Jingyue, there will be no more Saintesses? Or perhaps, after Jingyue, there will be no more female Saintesses?”

Just then, Qing Lian raised her hand. “Holy Sister, I want to be the Saintess.”

Jingyue said, “You can be whatever you want, just don’t be a Holy Mother. You make it sound like I was born from you.”

Qing Lian: “…”

Jiang Zuo subconsciously asked, “What about a Holy Father?”

Su Qi looked at Jiang Zuo in surprise, and even Jingyue was particularly taken aback.

Su Qi asked, “Are you planning to make our son a Saintess?”

Jingyue asked, “Are you planning to have me train my niece to be the Saintess?”

Jiang Zuo: “…”

‘That’s not what I meant.’

Su Qi then looked at Jingyue. “I’m having a son.”

Jingyue said casually, “Right, right, you’re having a son. Your second kid will be a son too. All sons.”

“Senior Sister, if you want a daughter, you can get married and have one yourself,” Su Qi said.

“What if your big sister can’t get married for a few thousand years? Wouldn’t I have to count on you to have one for me?” Jingyue said.

Jiang Zuo followed behind them, not wanting to participate in this discussion in the slightest.

‘What’s the point of arguing back and forth? She’s not even pregnant yet.’

‘But if they really did have a child, there’s no way he’d let Su Qi run around. He’d have to find a way to deal with the Holy Land.’

‘He couldn’t just ask her aunt to help babysit, could he?’

‘Who knows, her aunt might even be married by then.’

‘Speaking of which, her aunt is like a mother figure to Su Qi. To suddenly hear she was getting married, and was even pregnant at the same time as Su Qi… that would be truly jarring.’

‘Right, he should probably hope Jian Shisan drags it out for another few decades or a century.’

‘No, that’s not right either. If they got married and had a child then, it would seem even more bizarre.’

“…”

‘Forget it. What does it have to do with him anyway?’

Just then, Jiang Zuo suddenly glanced back, his brow furrowing.

‘Can’t dodge it, but it’s not life-threatening.’

Then, Jiang Zuo came up behind Su Qi, wanting to take her hand.

But at that exact moment, Su Qi and Jingyue had started messing around, chasing each other playfully.

Jiang Zuo felt his heart sink. ‘Great. We’re going to be separated again.’

Just as these thoughts crossed Jiang Zuo’s mind, a strange, furious gust of wind appeared. It was unnaturally powerful and arrived so fiercely that it gave no one any time to prepare.

In an instant, the four of them—Jiang Zuo included—were blown into the sky, disappearing without a trace.

————

「Somewhere over the great sea.」

Jiang Zuo stood in mid-air.

He didn’t know where Su Qi had gone, but he wasn’t too worried. A moment ago, he hadn’t sensed any danger to the four of them, at least not for now.

But Su Qi was different. ‘She must be worried sick.’

‘It wouldn’t be good if she panicked and started crying. And with her personality, she’d definitely waste Spiritual Qi flying aimlessly over the sea.’

Wasting so much Spiritual Qi was not a good thing.

Jiang Zuo took out a coin, intending to see which direction Su Qi was in so he could go find her.

But just as he took the coin out, he put it away again.

‘The distance… it’s too far.’

With his current Cultivation, he actually couldn’t reach her in a short amount of time.

To keep Su Qi from worrying, Jiang Zuo had no choice but to take out the Broken Bridge Fishing Rod.

The Broken Bridge Fishing Rod possessed all the functions of Duan Qiao, but Jiang Zuo’s Cultivation was insufficient, so he’d never been able to bring out much of its power (especially its signal function).

Once his Cultivation was high enough, he wouldn’t need it anymore.

But for now, he didn’t need it to display too many of its abilities.

He just needed it to be able to fish for certain things.

For example, Shiba.

Jiang Zuo then landed on the surface of the sea, and a sizable block of ice instantly formed beneath his feet.

This wasn’t the Magic of the elements, but Jiang Zuo’s personal Magic.

He didn’t have time to wait for the Water Element to sluggishly freeze the water; it was a waste of his time.

Then the fishing rod dropped, and Jiang Zuo began to fish.

As the line hit the water, Jiang Zuo began to activate the Broken Bridge Fishing Rod. With his current abilities, he could try to fish for things that had been marked.

Shiba had a mark on it, so he would fish for Shiba first.

‘After that, it’s all up to Duan Qiao itself.’

‘If it’s not smart enough, I’ll have to use force.’

Soon, Jiang Zuo activated the Broken Bridge Fishing Rod. Then he felt them—the marks that could be fished. There were only two in total: one for Shi Qi and one for Shiba.

Without any hesitation, Jiang Zuo locked onto Shiba.

Meanwhile, on the balcony, Duan Qiao was busy pulling Sweet Potato back up every time it ran off. It was bored anyway and didn’t bother hitting it.

At that moment, however, Duan Qiao suddenly sensed a splashing sound in the water.

When it turned around, it saw that Shiba had been pulled into a spatial rift.

‘It’s the Broken Bridge Fishing Rod.’

Then, Duan Qiao was perplexed.

‘Why pull Shiba?’

‘That’s not right. The Great Demon doesn’t usually pull Shiba. Could it be he needs Shiba’s help for a fight?’

‘No, that’s impossible. Unless there’s no signal, the Great Demon would never go out of his way to pull one of them, the ‘balcony creatures’.’

Then, Duan Qiao froze. ‘Signal?’

‘That’s it. If the Great Demon absolutely had to pull someone, he would definitely pull the one that acts as the signal.’

‘So, this is a hint?’

‘Oh god,’ Duan Qiao was terrified. ‘Good thing I figured it out so quickly. If I hadn’t, I might have been done for.’

‘The main body is over there. The Great Demon can forcibly summon it, but it would cause a lot of damage.’

Duan Qiao had no time to deal with Sweet Potato. It jumped directly into the water and placed a mark on itself.

The mark was a universal one.

Back on the sea, Jiang Zuo pulled Shiba out of the water, then tossed it aside without a second glance.

Shiba: “…”

‘Am I… free?’

‘Free my ass! Can’t you see this guy pulls me whenever he wants? But… if he forgets about me, would I really be free?’

Shiba wasn’t sure, but it slowly expanded its range of movement. As long as it couldn’t see the man, it would make a run for it.

‘I’ll worry about getting caught when it happens.’

‘Haha! I can taste freedom!’

Meanwhile, Jiang Zuo started fishing again, reactivating the Broken Bridge Fishing Rod’s function. Then he smiled. ‘It seems having a sentient Duan Qiao is a good thing after all.’

‘At least it’s quick-witted.’

And when Duan Qiao felt the Broken Bridge Fishing Rod lock onto it, it finally breathed a sigh of relief.

‘Looks like I didn’t guess wrong.’

‘That was close.’
