Myriad Dragon Divine Sovereign
Chapter 510 520: Entering the Ancestral Hall
Ji Hai looked at the young man before him, whose resolute expression held a hint of nonchalance. He couldn't help but wonder, 'Why did he have to kill those people from the Three Realms Sect and the Flowing Cloud Sect? Could there truly be some misunderstanding?'
Zhang Zhilin turned his head and looked at Wen Qingye. "Are you sure you want to go to the Ancestral Hall?" he asked. "It's exceptionally dangerous."
"Yes, I'm sure." Wen Qingye nodded.
'I was originally planning to sneak into the Ancestral Hall, but now it seems that won't be necessary. This is exactly what I wanted, so how could I possibly refuse?'
Zhang Zhilin gazed into Wen Qingye's determined eyes. After a long moment, he sighed. "Alright. Since you've made up your mind, I won't say anything more. In any case, be careful."
Wen Qingye nodded, then took out two Pill Bottles and handed them to Zhang Zhilin. "Each of these contains a Dragon Tiger Pill," he said. "Please keep one for yourself, Master, and give the other to Senior Brother Sunx Li."
Zhang Zhilin accepted the Pill Bottles, his voice filled with surprise. "Where did you get Dragon Tiger Pills?"
Ji Hai, standing to the side, was also slightly stunned. How could he not know the wonders of the Dragon Tiger Pill? It was an excellent item for increasing one's Lifespan. In other words, it extended the time available for cultivation, making it one of the most precious types of pills.
"Did Miaoxuan give these to you?" Zhang Zhilin asked, as if having a sudden realization. "That must be it. Not many on Danxuan Peak can refine the Dragon Tiger Pill, but Miaoxuan is one of them."
Wen Qingye simply smiled and said nothing. He had no desire to explain these things further. He turned his head to look at Ji Hai.
"Shall we head to the Ancestral Hall now?"
Ji Hai's brow furrowed slightly. "Are you sure your injuries aren't a concern?" he asked.
Wen Qingye shook his head slightly. "It's nothing serious."
Zhang Zhilin watched this exchange, feeling a little puzzled. He wanted to say something, but ultimately held his tongue.
Right now, Wen Qingye's only goal was to get to the Ancestral Hall. Resolving his internal injuries was of the utmost importance.
Ji Hai nodded. "Alright, let's go now."
...
「At the summit of the Main Peak.」
This was the most sacred and central location in the entire Celestial Profound Sect: the Ancestral Hall, home to the spirits of countless senior masters.
The hall had always been overwhelmingly dense with Yin Qi. Inside, fragmented Primordial Spirits drifted about, attacking the Primordial Spirits of anyone within. As such, it also served as a method of punishment for the Celestial Profound Sect's disciples.
Ji Hai pointed toward the dozens of pavilions and halls ahead, standing tall amidst the clouds that obscured them. His eyes held a trace of reverence as he said, "This is our Celestial Profound Sect's Ancestral Hall."
Wen Qingye nodded. He could clearly see wisps of black energy rising toward the sky from atop the numerous grand halls.
The Yin Qi here is incredibly dense!
Places where fragmented Primordial Spirits gathered typically produced dense Yin Qi, which would continuously assault the human body.
The attacks from the fragmented Primordial Spirits and the assault of the Yin Qi were what made the Ancestral Hall so formidable.
Ji Hai turned to Wen Qingye. "I will now activate the array to let you in," he said. "In six months, if you're still alive, you can come out."
After speaking, Ji Hai formed a Magic Technique with his hands. The vast clouds and mist ahead parted like a flowing current, revealing the true face of the buildings within. A massive, square hall that seemed to reach for the sky was revealed before Wen Qingye.
"Alright, you may enter."
Wen Qingye nodded. He glanced at the halls hidden within the clouds and slowly walked inside.
Ji Hai watched Wen Qingye's back disappear, feeling for some reason that he had forgotten to say something important.
The Ancestral Hall operated on a cycle of seven. Once opened, it could only be opened again after a minimum of seven days. Subsequent openings could only occur after fourteen days, twenty-one days, and so on—only on multiples of seven.
"Oh no," Ji Hai suddenly realized. 'I forgot to tell Wen Qingye not to go too deep into the Ancestral Hall. Inside...'
The news of Wen Qingye's punishment from the Law Enforcement Hall quickly spread throughout the Seven Peaks, naturally bringing joy to some and sorrow to others. When the duration of his confinement was revealed, it caused an even greater uproar.
'Six months? Isn't that a death sentence?'
When the final verdict on Wen Qingye was announced, it caused a massive uproar.
Everyone was shocked. Guarding the Ancestral Hall for six months was no different from a death sentence.
Immediately, Yann Chuxue, Qiuu Ming, Zhou Yue, Yum Baobao, Mo Qing, Lu Wushuang, Lu Shaoyou, Tao Liuu, and others co-signed a letter and presented it to the Sect Leader.
As Lu Wushuang signed his name, he let out a deep sigh. "With a man like him," he said, "the Sword Dao of our Celestial Profound Sect will never perish, but will flourish for eternity!"
However, the joint letter was like a stone dropped into the ocean; there was no response.
After that, all they could do was settle in for a long wait.
「Inside the Ancestral Hall.」
Wen Qingye looked up into the vast, boundless space above. A desolate white mist floated all around, radiating a bone-chilling cold and obscuring his vision.
It was cold and utterly desolate.
"ROAR!"
A low roar came from Wen Qingye's fingers, and the Ice Python's body rapidly emerged.
"It's so cold here!" The Ice Python shivered.
Its own chill was different from the cold here; this cold pierced straight to the depths of one's soul.
Wen Qingye's brow furrowed slightly. "Yes, the Yin Qi here is incredibly dense. You should be careful. I'm going to use the Dragon Pearl to absorb the Primordial Spirits here, and then I'll slowly nourish that wisp of origin energy to repair my meridians."
He wasn't afraid of the Primordial Spirits, of course, but he found the Yin Qi to be somewhat troublesome. Primordial Qi surged from his body in a great torrent, resisting the invasion of the Yin Qi.
"Alright." The Ice Python nodded, opened its great maw, and spat out the golden Azure Dragon Pearl, which shimmered with a brilliant golden light within the hall.
Wen Qingye took the Azure Dragon Pearl in his hand and slowly walked forward into the boundless mist.
The Ice Python kept its body small, coiling near Wen Qingye. Its eyes scanned the surroundings as it said, "The Yin Qi here is freezing—it feels like it's seeping right into my bones. It seems these honored masters of the Celestial Profound Sect all had impressive cultivation in life."
Just as Wen Qingye was about to speak, a black shadow shot out from the haze ahead.
SWISH!
It moved as fast as a gale, reaching Wen Qingye in the blink of an eye and crashing directly toward his Sea of Consciousness.
The Ice Python saw the shadow vanish into nothingness, disappearing from its sight. It knew the black shadow must have charged into Wen Qingye's Primordial Spirit.
'This must be one of the fragmented Primordial Spirits left behind by the Celestial Profound Sect's past masters,' it thought.
