Chapter 71: Finding Danzo

"This is the situation."

Kakashi quickly reached the Hokage’s Office and explained. Jiraiya and Shikaku took him seriously.

"Alright, summon your ninja dog and let him track Naruto!"

Jiraiya said without much hesitation.

Kakashi nodded and immediately summoned Pakkun. It was a small orange dog wearing a blue cloth over his body.

"Yo, Kakashi! So, where are you taking me today?"

Pakkun raised his front paw and asked.

"Pakkun, follow this smell!"

Kakashi tossed him the kunai and said.

Sniff! Sniff!

"It got two smells. I guess I know which to follow."

Pakkun replied and dashed towards the direction of Naruto’s smell.

Jiraiya, Shikaku, and Kakashi immediately dashed towards Pakkun.

While they were coming, Naruto had already approached Danzo.

After a proper discussion with Kurama, Naruto’s goal changed slightly. He no longer wanted to kill Danzo.

Sasuke should indeed be the one to kill Danzo. After all, there was a blood feud between them.

But he also knew the danger of letting Danzo go.

This had nothing to do with Danzo himself but the information he had.

For example, Danzo basically had complete information on Wood Release and Sharingan.

More importantly, his subordinate Tanuki was also working on a Nue, Project Gozu Tenno.

So, Naruto wanted to cut off his wings.

Naruto didn’t want to kill all of the Roots, especially those who changed for the better and those who didn’t have a lot of loyalty towards Danzo.

Those memories shaped him, but they didn’t change him.

"Kyubi Jinchuriki, why are you here?"

When Danzo saw Naruto, he tried to act nonchalant. He didn’t mention anything about an attack on Hinata.

Naruto sneered.

"Don’t like you don’t know, Old Man. I don’t care who you are or why you exist, but you messed up with the wrong person."

"Oh, sorry, I forgot. You are just about to be declared an international criminal, an Assistant Hokage who was declared an S-Rank Traitor."

Those words hurt Danzo more than he expected, especially the last words.

After all, from Danzo’s perspective, he had given so much for the village, done so much from the darkness, keeping the village safe.

But what did he get? Not even a thank you.

He ground his teeth and said.

"Foolish brat! You think you are all so powerful relying on that beast. Let me show you the real strength!"

As soon as he said that, three Root Members wove hand signs until several large-scale symbols burst out of their bodies, moving towards Naruto.

"You are too slow."

Unfortunately, Naruto was no longer there. In fact, he was already behind one of the Root Members as a Rasengan formed in his hand.

Bang!

He slammed the Rasengan into the back of the Root Ninja until it broke part of his spine and paralyzed him on the spot.

’How can this be? He is not using Sage Mode or Kyubi’s Chakra. How can he be so fast and strong?’

Danzo’s eyes widened in shock when he saw Naruto’s speed. But he didn’t panic; instead, he waited.

Two root ninjas, using their tanto, struck him from both sides, but Naruto’s body flickered as he jumped.

As their tanto missed, Naruto kicked both of them in the chin at the same time.

Their bodies flew into the distance; one struck the tree while the other fell on the ground.

Just when Naruto was about to land, he noticed a presence underneath the ground.

This immediately forced him to channel Chakra into his feet as he struck down.

Bang!

After stepping on that ninja, Naruto dashed towards the other Ninjas. Despite his short stature, he was able to put up a good fight.

His speed and strength far outclassed theirs, but they also had some other kinds of strength.

Suddenly, Naruto noticed a painting coming to life as two birds holding the paper bombs flew towards him.

’Sai!’

When Naruto saw this man, even though he was a bit younger, he instantly recognized him.

But besides recognizing him, Naruto also had to fight. He quickly summoned a clone and tossed the clone towards the birds.

The clone summoned two Rasengan in both of his hands and slammed them against the birds.

Boom! Boom!

Although the birds were destroyed, the paper bombs also exploded at the same time.

While this was happening, Naruto instantly closed the gap with Sai and punched him in the gut, making him fall to his knees.

But Sai instantly threw two paper bombs towards Naruto.

What’s even worse was that Sai was in range of those paper bombs.

’Damn it!’

Naruto gritted his teeth. Even though he didn’t know Sai personally, wasn’t his friend, he still had to move forward and save him.

Because Sai was worth that effort.

Fortunately, Naruto had been training with Hinata for a long time in the future.

Although those were just memories, they did give him a few experiences.

Without Byakugan, it wouldn’t work as perfectly, but Naruto managed to expel Chakra from his hand at such a pace that it formed a vacuum shell.

This went straight towards Sai, slamming him away from the range of the explosion.

The fire and smoke covered the ground.

Naruto jumped out of the smoke, his body suffering no damage as he used his Chakra to protect himself.

’Hmm! Why did Naruto Uzumaki protect him?’

Danzo couldn’t help but raise the question. Then, he remembered Naruto’s personality and snorted.

’Such a rash decision, just like Hiruzen! He might become a strong Hokage, but he is not an elite Ninja.’

’Why did Daimyo choose someone like him?’

This question was a bit confusing. He didn’t think someone had the capacity to control the Daimyo without Kotoamatsukami.

And even with this Dōjutsu, Danzo wasn’t sure he could control the Daimyo because the Leaf Village was full of Byakugan users.

If any of them opened their Byakugan and noticed the Chakra flow in the Daimyo’s head, he would definitely take the blame.

That’s why he didn’t choose to control Hiruzen after gaining that eye.
