Naruto: The Ridiculously Talented Uzumaki

Chapter 495: The Three Tricks for Coaxing a Child

  • Next Chapter

It was night.

In the backyard of the Hyuga Compound, inside the three-story wooden building created by Wood Release, most of the lights had already been extinguished. Moonlight shone through the windows, casting a cold, clear radiance across the corridor.

Young Naruto’s room was located on the second floor.

He had just finished his nightly Ninjutsu cultivation and was preparing to rest.

"Knock, knock, knock."

A faint knocking sound rang out.

Young Naruto frowned.

Who could it be at this hour?

Young Naruto pulled open the door.

However, there was nothing outside; only moonlight spilled across the empty corridor.

Young Naruto instinctively looked down and saw a petite figure with silver hair cascading like a waterfall to the floor, standing right at his doorway.

The moonlight shone upon her, coating her white dress and silver hair in a layer of clear radiance, making her look like a lost elf.

However, the expression on this elf was a bit fierce.

It was Otohime.

"It’s late at night, why aren’t you sleeping? What are you doing here?"

Young Naruto looked at Otohime, who was crouching on the ground, and asked in a flat tone, devoid of any emotion.

Otohime looked up, her golden Rinnegan shimmering with a strange light under the moonlight.

She did not answer Young Naruto’s question, but instead, like a little mouse, squeezed through the gap beside Young Naruto’s leg and slipped into the room.

Young Naruto raised an eyebrow but didn’t stop her, turning to close the door.

Soft light illuminated the room.

The furnishings were simple: a bed, a desk, and a few chairs.

"What difference does it make if I’m in your room or not?"

As soon as she entered the room, Otohime jumped to the center, placed her hands on her hips, tilted her little face up, and glared at Young Naruto, accusing him in her youthful voice, which was filled with resentment:

"You perverted lolicon who likes to peep at others! Zako, zako!"

"To think you would actually make a Wood Clone turn into a potted plant and hide in my room to spy on me! And now you’re acting all innocent, asking why I came to find you in the middle of the night?!"

It turned out that to prevent Otohime from secretly using "Kamimusubi" to slip away or pull any tricks in the middle of the night, Young Naruto had indeed created a Wood Clone, used Transformation Jutsu to turn it into an inconspicuous little potted plant, and placed it on the windowsill of Otohime’s room.

He hadn’t expected her to discover it anyway.

Hearing this, Young Naruto’s face remained expressionless.

He hadn’t originally thought that Wood Clone could stay in Otohime’s room for long, and the fact that the Clone hadn’t sent back any memories meant it was still in place and hadn’t been destroyed by Otohime.

He walked to the chair by the desk and sat down, watching the agitated Otohime with composure.

"I was just worried that you might sneak away."

Young Naruto explained calmly, "Although you can count as a friend, you haven’t completely put my mind at ease yet."

In his heart, Otohime’s current status was closer to that of a prisoner in need of strict surveillance.

The word ’friend’ was far from accurate.

At the very least, until Otohime completely gave up on causing trouble and proved she was trustworthy, he wouldn’t truly treat her as a friend.

"Since you treat me as a friend, then put your heart at ease!"

Otohime seemed to care a lot about the term ’friend.’ She stepped forward, raised her little foot, and stomped hard on the top of Young Naruto’s foot.

However, given her current size and strength, this stomp felt like nothing more than a tickle to Young Naruto; it didn’t hurt at all.

"I’m angry!"

Seeing that her attack was ineffective, Otohime became even more annoyed. Her little face puffed up like a bun, and her eyes seemed to be spitting fire.

Young Naruto looked down at the little loli’s puffed-up expression, and a thought suddenly flashed through his mind:

Has her thinking become simpler after her body shrunk?

Or is this just a facade she’s putting on to lower my guard?

He didn’t dwell on it.

For an Otsutsuki like Otohime, who has lived for who knows how many years, it’s always right to remain vigilant.

Although it seems that the brains of the Otsutsuki, aside from Isshiki, aren’t very well-developed, and they are all incredibly arrogant.

However, staying in this stalemate isn’t a solution.

He still needs to rely on her to find the coordinates to go home. If he makes her angry, even though he isn’t afraid of her running away, it would be troublesome.

Young Naruto thought for a moment and decided to adopt a policy of appeasement.

Coaxing a child is nothing more than those three classic tricks.

"I’ll take you out to play tomorrow."

Young Naruto said, his voice carrying a bit more of the gentleness used to coax a child.

"Hmph!"

Otohime turned her head away, feigning disdain, but her ears twitched slightly.

"I’ll buy you those fast foods."

Young Naruto continued to add to the offer.

In the first few days after arriving in this world, he had fed Otohime fast food like burgers and pizza. For a child whose taste buds hadn’t been ’polluted,’ this kind of thing was like a delicacy from heaven.

Even Otohime couldn’t escape the temptation of fast food, though it was a bit too greasy for Young Naruto. Recently, Otohime had also been playing video games in the room often.

She hadn’t eaten fast food for three or four days.

"Hmph!"

Otohime’s snort became quieter, and she secretly glanced at Young Naruto out of the corner of her eye.

"And some little desserts."

Young Naruto paused and added, "I’ll make you some sweet food tomorrow too."

"..."

Otohime fell silent. She seemed to be weighing the pros and cons between ’being angry’ and the ’temptation of delicious food.’

A few seconds later...

"Hehehe!"

Otohime put on an excessively bright smile.

She let go of her hips, pounced, hugged Young Naruto’s leg, rubbed her little face against it, and said in a sickeningly sweet voice:

"You and I are friends! I forgive you!"

The speed of her changing expressions was worthy of a Sichuan opera master.

Another one who changes faces without skipping a beat.

Young Naruto looked at Otohime, who was hugging his leg with an expression that said ’we are good friends,’ and the corner of his mouth twitched.

Friends?

He silently put a question mark on this definition in his heart.

However, at least he had appeased her for now.

Problems that can be solved with food aren’t big problems.

"Alright, since you’re not angry anymore, go back to sleep. Wake up early tomorrow."

Young Naruto reached out, grabbed Otohime by the back of her collar, plucked her off his leg like a kitten, then walked to the door and opened it.

"Remember, don’t try to use Dōjutsu secretly. I’m watching you."

Young Naruto gave one final warning and ’invited’ Otohime out of the room.

"I know, I know! You’re so wordy!"

Otohime stood outside the door, made a face at Young Naruto, and then skipped back to her room, as if the puffed-up little loli from a moment ago wasn’t her at all.

Young Naruto closed the door and shook his head.

Take an Otsutsuki loli around Hidden Leaf Village? And buy fast food and desserts?

This task seemed even more headache-inducing than dealing with Otsutsuki Isshiki.

However, for the sake of returning home smoothly, this ’price’ seemed worth it.

He walked to the window, watching the bright moonlight outside, his eyes deep and thoughtful.

Tomorrow would be another ’lively’ day.

Perhaps, tonight wouldn’t be peaceful either.
