Chapter 593 - 417: Don’t Waste Your Energy, You Can’t Catch Up

  • Next Chapter

Nanting Snow looked up at the sky, her brow furrowed and her eyes filled with anxiety.

Yellow Paper, like apocalyptic snowflakes, drifted down from the sky.

Her tightly clenched fists finally relaxed slightly. She let out a long sigh of relief and muttered to herself, ’You’re here at last.’

The backup that had arrived was Gao Liceng.

She recalled Xiao Yu and Lin Zuoguang. The two had known each other for a long time, but this time they’d had an unprecedentedly fierce conflict.

In Nanting Snow’s opinion, they both had their own points, and both were right in their own way.

In this situation, there was no turning back.

It was just that Lin Zuoguang was so rational he bordered on cowardly.

"Live to fight another day" was the principle he lived by.

Her thoughts snapping back to the present, Nanting Snow quickly looked to the sky.

Beckett advanced steadily, a bizarre carpet paved with pure light beneath his feet.

With every step he took, he was instantly wrapped in light,

and in the next moment, his figure would appear over a hundred meters away, as if he had teleported.

This rapid-fire teleportation was like a phantom weaving through the air, dizzying to watch.

The sheets of Yellow Paper seemed to have a life of their own, rushing toward Beckett in an attempt to block his path.

But as soon as they neared the Light Carpet, they were mercilessly obliterated by a light that seemed to freeze time.

In that instant, a sharp, ear-piercing screech echoed through the air—the mournful cry of two powers colliding violently.

To the grim-faced Beckett, this was all no more than a gentle breeze. His pace never faltered in the slightest.

In a matter of seconds, the situation changed abruptly. The Yellow Paper, which had been drifting about, began to dance and weave frantically in mid-air, as if stirred by a giant, invisible hand.

In the blink of an eye, they coalesced into a human silhouette. As the outline sharpened, it revealed a cute teenage girl who looked like a naive high school student.

The girl was about to charge forward when Lin Zuoguang’s urgent cry rang out, "Don’t waste your energy! You can’t catch him!"

His expression was grim, sweat beading on his forehead as he continued, "Beckett from the Bright Holy See... his speed is beyond imagination.

I once read about it in an ancient text.

Speed is a specialty of the Bright Holy See’s members.

Take those fully armored knights from before. In my judgment,

they were most likely members of the Bright Holy See’s Twelve Round Table Knights. That’s the Holy See’s ultimate fighting force.

It’s no wonder we lost to them before."

Lin Zuoguang had always aspired to be a behind-the-scenes strategist, focusing on intelligence analysis and operational command.

During his time at the National Road Academy, in any course that involved intelligence gathering or data analysis,

he was always at the top of his class.

Now, his eyes were locked on Beckett, his mind racing as he tried to find a sliver of hope in this desperate situation.

Nanting Snow listened to Lin Zuoguang, and though she was reluctant to accept it, she knew he was right.

She gritted her teeth and whispered, "Are we just going to give up?"

Just then, Gao Liceng arrived, landing silently.

Her eyes swept across the battlefield, her expression solemn. "This is worse than I thought."

Nanting Snow looked at her, a spark of hope in her eyes. "Is there anything you can do?"

Gao Liceng was silent for a moment before slowly shaking her head. "Beckett is too powerful. This Power of Light... it’s incredibly difficult to deal with."

In the sky, Beckett continued his steady advance, the Light Carpet extending endlessly before him.

He looked down at them, a disdainful sneer playing on his lips. "Your struggles are futile."

With that, he waved his hand, and a blinding beam of light shot toward the girl made of Yellow Paper.

The girl flickered, trying to dodge, but the light still grazed her, causing her form to turn translucent.

Lin Zuoguang watched, his heart burning with anxiety. "We can’t let him keep doing whatever he wants!"

He turned to Gao Liceng and asked urgently, "Do you have any special ability that can counter his speed?"

Gao Liceng frowned, thinking for a moment. "I can interfere with space for a short time, but I’m afraid it won’t be very effective against his rapid-fire teleportation."

Nanting Snow took a deep breath, her gaze resolute. "We have to try, no matter what. We can’t just wait here to die."

With that, she and Gao Liceng exchanged a look, an unspoken understanding passing between them in an instant.

Nanting Snow formed a Sealing Technique with her hands, and a surge of deep blue Spiritual Power erupted, attempting to disrupt the light around Beckett.

Meanwhile, Gao Liceng unleashed her ability, creating a spatial distortion in front of Beckett.

Beckett sensed the disturbance and paused for a fraction of a second, a flicker of caution in his eyes.

But he quickly resumed his indifferent expression. "Petty tricks."

He quickened his pace, his body moving like a bolt of lightning as he passed effortlessly through the spatial distortion. He raised his hand and fired several more beams of light at them.

Everyone scrambled to dodge as the beams shot past, leaving scorched tracks on the ground.

Lin Zuoguang watched, growing more anxious by the second.

At this rate, if they didn’t come up with a plan soon, none of them would make it out alive.

Just then, the girl made of Yellow Paper let out a sharp shriek, and the sallow light around her body flared intensely.

She charged recklessly toward Beckett, even knowing it was a one-way trip.

Beckett snorted. "You don’t know your own limits."

He raised his hand, preparing to launch another attack to obliterate the girl completely.

Just in the nick of time, Lin Zuoguang suddenly shouted, "Wait!"

Beckett paused, startled for a moment. He stopped his attack and turned his cold gaze upon him.

Lin Zuoguang took a deep breath, forcing himself to remain calm. "We can talk. There’s no need to wipe us all out."

A mocking smile touched Beckett’s lips. "And what makes you think you’re qualified to negotiate with me?"

"..." Lin Zuoguang was furious, but there was nothing he could do.

After Chu He took over the National Road Academy, an unconventional special assessment had completely rewritten Lin Zuoguang’s life.
