Chapter 617 - 426: If They Really Are the Eyes Left Behind by the Upper Realm Deities

  • Next Chapter

In the sky, the ball of pure white light hung like a stubborn sentinel, showing no sign of leaving.

It floated silently, as if fixed in midair by an invisible pair of hands.

The ball of light constantly writhed, like a living, mysterious object. Around it, layers of pure white ripples undulated, spreading outward in concentric circles like a gentle breeze skimming across the surface of a calm lake.

Each ripple emitted a mysterious and dazzling radiance, illuminating the surrounding sky as if it were broad daylight.

Clearly, having failed to rescue Beckett and Guerrero, it was unwilling to concede defeat. It lingered in the sky, searching for another opportunity to launch a rescue.

Its intense light seemed to be a show of defiance toward Chu He, a declaration that it would not give up so easily.

Yet Chu He faced this display with a calm expression, his eyes betraying a confident resolve.

He slowly raised his hand and made a sharp grasping motion in the empty air.

In an instant, a brilliant golden Xuanyuan Sword materialized in his hand. The moment it appeared, the Xuanyuan Sword exuded a powerful, ancient aura. Its blade was covered in mysterious Runes, each one seeming to tell a tale of ancient legend.

Chu He gripped the hilt of the Xuanyuan Sword tightly. His palm was broad and strong, seeming to become one with the hilt. His arm tensed, muscles tightening, and his entire being emanated a powerful aura.

He made no flashy moves. Instead, he simply and directly swung his blade down at the blinding ball of white light in the sky.

As Chu He swung, a brilliant golden light erupted from the Xuanyuan Sword. The radiance was utterly blinding, as if the sun’s brilliance had been compressed into the slender blade.

The next moment, this light, imbued with powerful Sword Qi, shot toward the ball of white light like a golden bolt of lightning.

The Sword Qi moved with incredible speed, like an arrow capable of piercing anything. It crossed the distance in an instant, striking the white ball of light in the sky.

The ball of white light, as if struck by a massive force, began to tremble violently, like a fragile creature writhing in agony.

Then, a shocking scene unfolded.

The once-azure sky suddenly tore open, revealing a pitch-black, bottomless rift—an entrance, it seemed, to another mysterious world.

For a moment, the ball of white light looked like the eye of the firmament, and the rift resembled its eyelid.

As the "eyelid" slowly closed, the ball of white light was drawn inside and vanished.

With the disappearance of the ball of light, the pitch-black rift in the sky slowly sealed itself, as if it had never existed.

The sky, moments before filled with light and power, returned to its former tranquility, as if everything had been but an illusory dream.

Beckett and Guerrero witnessed it all, their hearts filling with despair.

In that moment, all hope died within them.

They knew the Bright Holy See had exhausted its last resort. With the disappearance of the ball of light, it was clear: the Bright Holy See had mercilessly abandoned them.

Their pride and dignity as Archbishops of the Bright Holy See were utterly shattered.

Chu He slowly dismissed the Xuanyuan Sword. The blade’s light faded in his hand, and it vanished as if it had never been there.

He slowly turned to look at Beckett and Guerrero, collapsed on the ground.

A faint smile touched his lips, carrying a hint of both mockery and pity.

"It seems you’ve been cast aside by the Bright Holy See. They won’t be coming back for you."

Chu He’s voice, low and calm, echoed in the silence.

A fresh wave of desolation washed over Beckett and Guerrero as they heard Chu He’s words.

Their bodies remained limp on the ground, their eyes filled with despair and helplessness.

Guerrero’s lips, in particular, trembled. "I can tell you some things you want to know," he said, his voice hoarse and slow.

"I don’t know all the details, but I’m sure it will be of some use to you."

However, no sooner had the words left his mouth than something unexpected happened again.

A dazzling white light suddenly erupted from Guerrero’s mouth, so intense it was as if a miniature sun had detonated within.

Immediately after, blinding white light began to shine from his nostrils, his eyes, his ears—even from the pores of his skin.

The white light seemed to seep from every corner of his body, enveloping him completely.

Then, as Chu He watched, Guerrero’s entire body began to burn with an eerie white flame, utterly unlike any normal fire.

It made no sound, no crackle or pop, burning silently as if conducting some mysterious, solemn ritual.

Guerrero’s body twisted within the flames. An expression of agony contorted his face, yet he uttered no scream.

A flicker of surprise and confusion crossed Chu He’s eyes. He had not expected such a sudden, bizarre turn of events.
