D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad - Chapter 2160 G073M Part 2

Chapter 2160: Chapter 2160 G073M Part 2
— Kat —
Kat and Lily continued to try and find ways to cause the golem issues and continually failed. Paradoxes in particular where ESPECIALLY poor at confusing the golem. Mostly because all of its answers were simply being drawn from a list if the question was close enough. The designers hadn’t considered what would happen if you asked it a paradox… because they really didn’t need to. In fact saying ’This Statement is False’ didn’t even produce a response because it wasn’t technically a question. Even adding said question on at the end barely worked because it wasn’t in the database.
So Lily and Kat were contemplating more unique options when the robot’s giant hand started to fly towards them. Lily leapt upwards and Kat transformed into water, allowing herself to be splattered across the room. The golem didn’t let up after the first attack but it did react to Kat’s transformation. “Water transformation detected. Switching modes,”
The golem started to glow as its colours shifted to something closer to orange and the golem itself caught fire. The golem then sucked in a deep breath and blew out a huge amount of fire to try and turn Kat to steam. Kat swiftly reformed, even burning some demonic energy to deal with the lack of time to gather the rest of her water. The flames washed over her to essentially zero effect.
Lily wrapped herself up in shadows, making sure to keep the orb around her somewhat large. The flames washed against it and while it cost her mana, she didn’t simply get burnt. The seconds ticked by for Lily as Kat jumped into action. She slammed a full powered fist into the jaw of the golem, hoping to forcibly shut it. Instead, a loud clanging rang out and Kat found the golem completely unmoved. Apparently it had locked its jaw open before breathing out.
*Dammit. That’s not good.* Kat grumbled mentally as she tried to strike at the thinner parts of the golem, the metal that made up its limbs. Kat slammed a hand into its ’throat’ except this was almost as useless. The metal here could move and bend like flesh, so it simply deformed around her hand. It did stop the fire, but the robot simply backhanded her away without seeming to be hurt at all.
“Lack of damage detected. Shadow Magic detected. Switching modes,” announced the golem as its entire body shifted colour once again. This time taking on a bright yellow, almost white colour. Lily hissed at the golem upon seeing the switch and for her complaints it blasted a beam of white light towards her. Luckily, despite the speed the light beam travelled at, the golem had turned its head much slower and the slight brightening of the eyes made it obvious it was about to do something.
Of course, just because Lily dodged once didn’t mean she was fine. Lily had flew downwards to the ground and was planning to get an attack ready to hit back at the golem… but it simply kept blasting light from its eyes and followed her movements. Lily was getting a STRONG urge to slap the light beam with her paws as well despite knowing how much of a bad idea that was. So instead she was running around is a roughly circular shape letting the eye lasers chase her.
Kat moved up to attack more and tried to use her nails to rip into the liquid like metal making up its limbs. Kat started at the neck, thinking it would be the weakest spot and if it worked, would stop the laser beams. Sadly for her, it simply didn’t. No matter how much Kat tried to rip into the weird metal it simply deformed around her hands. It felt almost like she wsa trying to tear into a stress ball. It simply gave way under her fingers until suddenly they’d slipped away from the metal.
Kat couldn’t really get a grip on it either. She tried to clench her fingers around it, twist and pull but that was no better. It acted almost like her own skin where things simply slipped off only more powerful if anything. Kat could still hold onto things and Lily didn’t slide off whenever she rested on Kat’s shoulders. This golem though was like trying to hold on to water. “Why are you even attacking us?” asked Kat, mostly because she didn’t know what else to do.
The golem answered, without the need to stop what it was doing “Query detected and analysed. Searching for answer in database. Answer found. Answer to query: Intruders exceeded allotted time to leave and now must be attacked.”
“Why weren’t we told there was a time limit?” yelled Kat as she breathed her own demonic fire onto the liquid metal to see if that had any effect.
The golem immediately jerked backwards. It didn’t seem to have done any damage, but it made it react at least, even stopped the eyes. “Query detected and analysed. Searching for answer in database. Answer not found.”
*Well that’s just fucking great. Program in a bunch of responses but not one for telling us why we didn’t get warned about the timer.*
[The timer could be a completely separate person’s work if there were multiple people enchanting the thing. Plus, it’s also quite possible that the timer was added after all of the responses were added.]
*I don’t like how much sense that makes… but it also doesn’t tell me how to deal with this thing. A Rank 2 isn’t strong enough to damage the properly metal bits, and the liquidy metal bits are way too slippery for them to be destroyed. Demonic fire makes it react… but I’m a little hesitant to introduce too much of that in case it explodes or makes the explosion worse.*
[I see the issue… plus with it just being a metal golem it might not be doing all that much, to the outside anyway. Hmmm… can you bait it into wrapping itself up in its arms?]
*I can try?* Kat wasn’t exactly sure how to do that though. The golem seemed pretty interested in blasting Lily with its eye lasers. So… Kat considered a few things then realised she could try turning into water again. *Lily, get ready to block or something.* Lily sent a mental hiss in response but she got ready to react.
Kat turned into water and then moved into the laser beam… and it cut right through. It wasn’t JUST light it was magically empowered light that was acting a bit like plasma. There wasn’t any refraction here, it just boiled away the water blocking its path and then kept going. *Oh… um… hmm… shit. If only I had a mirror or something…*
[Do you have one in that bracelet?]
*No? I keep useful things in there but a whole ass mirror would take up way too much space and I’m not sure I’ve even seen any hand mirror. Plus, I don’t know that it would work anyway.*
[Back to wrapping it up then?]
*Well I’d love to make an attempt but it’s not reacting to me slamming it in the face, nor my attempts to claw at it if I don’t use demonic energy and even that didn’t stop with the lasers. I’m not really sure HOW to make it stop doing that. Surely it would overheat at some point or something right?*
[You’d think so but it seems like the answer is no so far. Um… hmm… how much does the light hurt you?]
*Oh? Actually suggesting I block it with my body?*
[NOT IF IT HURTS… but it is sort of just heat right? And you’re quite fire resistant so… I was thinking it wouldn’t hurt you much if at all.]
Kat shrugged and went to swipe her hand through the laser. As soon as her hand made contact it was launched backwards from the force and left her hand with some bruising which quickly cleared up. *Doesn’t hurt too much but with the bracelet I am not strong enough to stop it…*
[Then how the heck does it not dent the floor?]
*I dunno, the floor is strong I guess?*
Still, despite Kat’s suspicion as to what would happen she tried to stop the eye beams with her hands. Sadly she was correct and they just went flying. So Kat opted to kick the thing in the head, hoping for that to be more effective. Instead it did exactly nothing. As Kat scanned the room for something to use her eyes landed on the door, not the one they came through but the second one. Kat glanced down at the golem, and then over at Lily before nodding.
Kat kicked off the golem and sprinted over towards the door. Her hand had reached out for it… and just before she grabbed the handle a giant hand came swiping at her from the side. Kat was able to jump over it, easily reacting in time to the expected retaliation… now the question was, could she use this?
