D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad - Chapter 2161 G073M Part 3

Chapter 2161: Chapter 2161 G073M Part 3
— Kat —
The first thing to note was that there was no warning at all. None of that ’Intruder doing bad shit detected’. The golem INSTANTLY attacked with its hands in a way that wasn’t exactly standard. As Kat turned to see it, she could also see the golem was turning its entire body around to face her now. Using the momentum from the arm it had sent flying after her to spin the rest of it around.
Its head lingered on Lily for a bit, sending the laser her way for a few more seconds before it paused. Lily got ready to launch something back at it when its face opened. Not its mouth, it’s face. The entire thing split in half and an ear piercing screech seemed to emanate from the golem. The wave of sound was powerful, and physically debilitating all by itself. Stunning Lily and dismissing what control she’d started to assert over her shadow leaving her locked in place.
This potent sound bite was followed up by a shockwave of white. Light exploded forward, coming out from the open head of the golem and slamming towards Lily. Kat wanted to do something, anything to help now that her actions had caused this. Sure the swipe was easily dodged but this retaliation against Lily as well? That was powerful.
Alas, Kat was too far away and the sound was affecting her as well. Even if she recovered her balance faster, that still wasn’t fast enough to not only recover AND get over to Lily in time. So she just had to watch as the light slammed into her girlfriend. It was, in some ways the first real attack that Lily had ever received.
Kat felt a massive wave of pain flow down through the link and almost slammed it shut instinctively. Kat knew that doing so would just mean Lily would have to deal with that pain all by herself, even if feeling the echoes of it hurt her as well, Kat had no plans to allow Lily to suffer alone. She was also PISSED.
The only thing stopping Kat from launching herself at the golem and pouring as much demonic fire as she possible could into whatever cracks she could find was the persistent worry that Lily would be the one that came out worst for it. The lingering spectre of the exploding golems loomed large in her mind and the risk, even in the face of monumental anger just wasn’t worth it.
Didn’t mean Kat couldn’t punch the damned thing. Despite the ineffectual results of her assault Kat didn’t mind burning some demonic energy to enhance her body as much as possible. Straining against the limits of the bracer holding her back. Even feeling it creaking metaphorical against the effort. Kat truly, desperately wanted to press past that. To shatter the damned thing…
But Kat didn’t know what would happen, and once again, blowing something up in an attempt to get revenge for Lily being hurt while in an enclosed room would just get her hurt more. Still… it was something Kat kept in mind for the future. Just in case. It gave her something else to do as her hands and feet slammed into the hardened metal.
Kat tried what she could. Kicks, punches, Kat tried to bite through the liquid metal of its limbs and slash across its body with her fans but nothing produced any real damage against the damned thing. Her fans just couldn’t scratch it or find purpose. Her strength was being held back. There HAD to be a trick to this damned thing.
Meanwhile, Lily was experiencing a good deal of pain. It wasn’t just a magical attack, it was a light magical attack. Thankfully the scream beforehand helped out a bit. Her shadows had been disrupted by it and sent tumbling back into their normal position. Instead of a bunch of light corruption it was just a small amount that her shadow was already dealing with… of course that was just her shadow.
Amongst the myriad of pain coming from all across her body, Lily found she could also smell the pungent sent of burning hair. The only thing that gave her any sort of solace despite the awful smell and the pain was that it was burning HAIR or perhaps more accurately, fur. It seemed despite the damage it felt like she’d taken, none of it was serious enough to start cooking her. A slight upside.
As Lily tried to recover, Kat was dancing around the golem, it seemed to be mostly ignoring her attacks, and occasionally swiping at her or trying to blast her with its laser eyes but she wasn’t too worried. At least, not until it brought out a new trick. After a few ineffectual swipes of its hand, it hand finally changed tactics. The hand came around once again and Kat lazily dodged above it, using the chance to hop back up onto the golem’s shoulders to kick it in the end…
Only for that same hand to expand. The liquid metal of the limbs spreading between the fingers to generate a makeshift net. Kat quickly calculated what would happen. Transforming into water would see her spread across the room, and the golem would surely follow up with fire… probably less energy to just take the hit then.
Kat sighed as she pulled her wings in close. No reason to risk breaking them. Kat mentally applauded herself for the decision when the liquid metal wrapped around her torso, quickly followed by a large solid metal finger slamming itself into her body. Barely managing to avoid breaking all the bones in her wings despite folding them up.
The hand tightened around her as it continued to move to the side before abruptly reaching the end of its ’rope’ and reeling back to the golem, stopping not at its original position but directly in front of the golem. “Intruder contained. Intruder shown capability to turn into water. Intruder Temporarily contained. Please remain in place lest you suffer further damage.”
Kat rolled her eyes… but as soon as the golem started to turn around Kat decided to act, no way was she letting that thing focus on Lily so swiftly. Kat swapped to her water form and the golem immediately changed colour, once again there was no announcement. It went from its current white-ish colour scheme to burning orange and set itself on fire.
Kat felt her watery body vaporising as she reformed next to the fist as swiftly as possible, still taking a good chunk of her demonic energy with it when she did so. During this process, Lily had finally recovered and stumbled her way away from the wall where she’d been flung. Her shadows snaked out towards the golem and instead of her more standard claws…
She slithered them up against the golems joints where the liquid limbs met the rest of the body. There was some sort of seal there and the flames were burning away her mana… but Lily pushed onwards, sharpening her shadows to a thin point and trying to force them deeper inside the golem. Sadly, she was foiled by the golem running a hand through the shadows breaking her thin constructs with the weight of its heavy body.
Kat however, did take advantage of the attack. The golem had overextended to combat Lily’s shadows, it had thrown its hand in the way, wrapping it halfway around its body already. Kat wasn’t going to miss this chance. She could withstand the flames. Kat dashed to the side and gripped the hand before it could start to real back in. Kat wrenched it around behind the golem and when it tried to retract its hand, Kat’s involvement meant the first hand was tangled with the second’s arm.
A moment later the golem had its two hands struck in front of its body, both bound together as it was pulled forward slightly. A foot stepping forward stopped that but it was, theoretically vulnerable. Kat wanted to finish it off but she still didn’t know how. She sprinted for the door…
Only for the golem to simply turn, switching itself to a pale blue form between one moment and the next and spitting out a torrent of water it quickly froze. Blocking the way to the door. Kat grit her teeth and slammed into the ice, breaking most of it with that force but not quite uncovering the door. [KAT WATCH OUT!]
Kat turned back to the golem upon hearing Lily’s mental shout, expecting a deluge of water coming from its mouth… but instead its hands were free and it was reaching out to slap her away. What the fuck? Was all Kat really had time to think before the hand slammed into her. The golem obviously hadn’t expected to catch her because instead of getting wrapped up in the things hands again she was sent flying into the wall. How did it get free?
Lily just sent Kat a memory of the golem retracting the liquid metal that made up its arms… and then extending it back out again. Oh.
