Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1627 - Second-Level Heaven Gaze Realm

Chapter 1627 – Second-Level Heaven Gaze Realm
The immortal runes would determine Liu Wuxie’s strength once he broke into the Immortal Realm; the more he amassed, the more terrifying he would become.
The count of immortal runes kept climbing without pause. Ordinary laws became a rarity in the desolate world, replaced almost entirely by immortal runes.
The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron deepened into an even darker shade, while the Divine Purgatory Palace continued to swell in size. The Ancestral Tree also surged upward, branches multiplying as ancestral aura washed through every inch of Liu Wuxie’s body.
That surge turned every wisp of aura spilling from him into pure gold, and the immortal energy inside the desolate world also reached full saturation.
The process lasted three days. When it ended, the nine figures seated on the Nine-Colored Lotus slumped to the ground, every last thread of magical force wrung dry. They immediately produced magic stones to recover, bracing themselves in case the Faceless Clan launched another assault.
The moment Liu Wuxie opened his eyes, boundless force swept outward and rolled across the heavens. Immortal energy poured from him like a raging gale, roaring through the sky.
The elves surrounding him staggered back, unable to withstand that pressure. His mere aura kept even Earth Immortal experts from taking a single step closer.
“What a terrifying aura!”
The elves clustered together, and the bond between the two lineages had visibly softened.
“He’s only at the second-level Heaven Gaze Realm, yet his presence doesn’t seem weaker than a quasi-immortal’s. I can’t even imagine how far he’ll go once he reaches the pinnacle of the Heaven Gaze Realm…” No one dared to picture it. If Liu Wuxie reached the pinnacle, he would sweep the astral domains clean, and even immortals would struggle to face him.
When Liu Wuxie rose, crackling pops ran through his frame like beans bursting in a pan.
“That feels great!” He drew a deep breath that rumbled in his belly, then exhaled slowly. He had finally stabilized his cultivation at the second-level Heaven Gaze Realm.
Hua Feiyu flew over, worry written across his face. “Wuxie, are you still being affected by the inner demon?” He cared more about Liu Wuxie’s condition than any breakthrough.
“It’s completely resolved. Master, thank you for everything you did for me,” Liu Wuxie said, then bowed deeply. He knew he couldn’t have dispelled the inner demon this time without Hua Feiyu’s help.
If he had personally sought the Dark Elves’ help and Makurat had demanded the same condition, could he still have broken the dark curse? Even Liu Wuxie didn’t know the answer.
When Hua Feiyu heard that the inner demon was truly gone, the tightness in his chest finally eased.
“Since that’s the case, I’ll head back first. Come back as soon as you finish here,” Hua Feiyu said. As the sect master, he couldn’t abandon his duties for long.
With that, he bid farewell to the two leaders and departed the Elven Star. With Liu Wuxie’s current cultivation, Hua Feiyu knew that almost no one in the Indigo Bamboo Astral Domain could threaten his life anymore, especially with Tian Can at his side.
“Safe travels, Master!” Liu Wuxie said, watching him go. He still had matters to settle within the Elven Race, so he needed to remain a while longer.
Although the leaders of both lineages now understood that light and dark could not be separated, the hatred they had nurtured for countless years wouldn’t unravel in a few sentences. Liu Wuxie would have to meditate carefully and loosen those knots one strand at a time.
Peace returned to the Elven Star as both leaders recovered most of their magical force. When they rose, their movements looked stiff and awkward, and neither spoke first.
The barrier built over endless years would not fall from a single conversation.
“What are you all waiting for? Come to the main hall,” Liu Wuxie said. He still had much to address among the upper echelons of both lineages.
He led the way into the main hall. The dark elves hesitated, suspicion flaring as they feared an ambush the moment they stepped inside.
However, Liu Wuxie shot them a mocking glance, and they immediately lowered their heads. They swallowed their doubts and followed him in.
The hall was filled with the upper ranks of both factions. The Light Elves occupied the left, the Dark Elves sat to the right, and Liu Wuxie took the central seat.
“Young Master Liu, how did you inherit our ancestors’ legacy?” Makurat asked. Even now, he couldn’t comprehend how Liu Wuxie, a human, could receive the inheritance of the Elven Race.
“Do you know what these runes mean?” Liu Wuxie asked, drawing two runes in midair. The wider-top, narrower-bottom rune represented the light lineage, while the narrower-top, wider-bottom rune represented the dark lineage.
“Of course. These runes have existed in our Elven Race for countless years,” the two leaders answered, yet neither truly understood the runes’ function.
“The two ancestors left them behind, and they hold their life’s work. They look like two runes, but in truth, they were always one,” Liu Wuxie explained, then brought his hands together and let the two runes fuse.
As the runes overlapped, countless characters surfaced.
Makurat rushed forward, shock plastered across his face. “The two ancestors left it behind!”
Those characters contained their research on the perfect fusion of light and dark magic.
“We were all wrong. Light and dark magic were meant to be one, yet we tore them apart with our own hands,” Holisse said with a bitter smile. The proof stood before her eyes; the two ancestors never feuded, and their descendants had misunderstood their intent.
The elders understood it as well, and the Elven Race’s decline suddenly made grim sense.
“Liu Wuxie, thank you for everything you’ve done for the Elven Race. You have my sincere gratitude,” Makurat said, then bowed deeply.
Without Liu Wuxie, their hatred would have continued for generations until the Elven Race’s collapse. The Faceless Clan would only have waited for their weakness to deepen before wiping them out.
Liu Wuxie had saved the Elven Race from extinction.
The dark-lineage elder who had mocked him before said, bowing with his head lowered, “Liu Wuxie, I apologize for my earlier disrespect.”
Liu Wuxie said, sweeping his gaze across the hall, “The two lineages came from the same root. I’m glad you can resolve this hatred, and I believe the two ancestors would also feel relieved.”
Vandore would probably cough blood if he learned his descendants were slaughtering one another day after day. Solving the Elven Race’s feud counted as helping an old friend set right a tragedy.
With that, harmony returned to the Elven Race. Makurat willingly relinquished the patriarch’s position and allowed Holisse to lead the united people. From that day on, the two sides permitted intermarriage because children born from both lineages would find it easier to grasp both forms of magic.
As the Elven Race began to move in a better direction, Liu Wuxie stayed on the Elven Star for five more days. As for the matter between him and Vanya, everyone knew, yet no one mentioned it aloud.
“Matriarch, the Faceless Clan attacked us a few days ago. Are we just going to let it go?” With the two factions fully merged over the last few days, their anger now turned outward instead of inward.
Makurat had become the Elven Race’s grand elder, holding status equal to the matriarch. Ever since fusing the two magics, his cultivation kept rising, and stepping down from his responsibilities allowed him to focus on research.
“We will repay the grudge,” Holisse replied.
The Elven Race disliked conflict, but they were not helpless prey. The Faceless Clan’s assault had enraged them, and they would retaliate.
Liu Wuxie spent those days with Vanya and did not involve himself in the Elven Race’s affairs.
“Husband, the Elven Race is going to wage war with the Faceless Clan,” Vanya said, leaning into his embrace.
“The merger has pushed the Elven Race’s overall strength up drastically, so you don’t need to worry,” Liu Wuxie reassured. He understood exactly what fear lingered in her eyes.
Vanya finally relaxed when she heard him, though the worry still refused to vanish completely.
“Then let’s go watch. Consider it entertainment,” Liu Wuxie said as he rose. He decided to accompany her and see the outcome for himself.
“You’re the best!” Vanya pecked his cheek, then sprang up like a delighted little elf.
They left the room to find an elven army assembled outside. More than a thousand elves stood ready to march, each one spirited and brimming with intent. Most had already integrated light and dark magic, and their combat strength had multiplied severalfold.
Makurat would lead the army, while Holisse remained on the Elven Star to guard against any surprise attack.
“Move out!” Makurat gave the order and led the army forward.
Liu Wuxie and Vanya followed close behind.
“Matriarch, can we win this time?” an elder asked Holisse. The light lineage had mobilized many elites, and defeat would cost them dearly.
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine with him around,” Holisse replied with a faint smile.
……
The Faceless Clan’s planet lay two hours away, and the army reached it swiftly. The moment they set foot on the planet, a powerful shockwave of magical force surged outward.
In an instant, the Faceless Clan scattered in panic. No one had expected the Elven Race to strike first. In the past, the Faceless Clan had always launched assaults on the Elven Star, but now the roles had reversed.
The Faceless Clan barely had time to organize defenses, and the Elven Race advanced as though walking through empty land, marching straight toward the heart of their territory.
“Makurat, you’re courting death!” the Faceless Clan’s patriarch roared as he burst from his residence and slammed down the Divine Snaring Palm.
The elves immediately began their chanting. The Divine Snare lost its effect the instant it touched them. Now that they had reclaimed their ancestors’ inheritance, the Elven Race’s strength had undergone a drastic transformation.
Liu Wuxie hovered in the air without interfering. This war belonged to the two races, and he had no right to decide it for them.
Just like that, the massacre began.
“Faceless Clan patriarch, you’ve led your people to attack us repeatedly. Today, you will pay the price for what you’ve done!”
Makurat drove his assault harder.
Magic filled the sky. It was no longer pure light or pure darkness, but the fused power of both. In a single exchange, the Faceless Clan suffered crushing losses.
Liu Wuxie watched with cold indifference. He held no goodwill toward the Faceless Clan, infamous for their sinister nature. Back at the Myriad Race Ceremony, he had nearly died because of them more than once.
