Desolate Devouring Art - Chapter 1628 - Mad Demon Ancestors

Chapter 1628 – Mad Demon Ancestors
Given Liu Wuxie’s standing, he wouldn’t start slaughtering people without cause. The blood feud between the Elven Race and the Faceless Clan had run for ages, rooted so deep it had become part of their history.
He had come mainly to accompany Vanya, and the battle had already tilted in the Elven Race’s favor. If anything, he was the only one on the field with nothing to do with this war.
“Vanya, this is your chance to temper yourself. Go on,” Liu Wuxie said. As the Elven Race’s saintess, Vanya couldn’t just be a bystander.
“Okay!” Vanya answered. She had been itching to test her strength after fusing light and dark magic, and the moment she moved, everyone turned their attention to her.
She unleashed Doom Tempest, and a black gale howled out, sweeping across the planet. Countless Faceless Clan members spun into the air, and the storm shredded their bodies into fragments.
Tian Can stayed behind Liu Wuxie, guarding him against any sudden ambush.
Makurat and the Faceless Clan’s patriarch remained locked in a stalemate, neither gaining the upper hand.
The clash stalled into a deadlock, and although the Elven Race held the momentum, they still couldn’t wipe out the Faceless Clan easily.
“Mad Demon Ancestors, help!” the Faceless Clan’s patriarch roared, bellowing into the depths of his clan.
The instant his shout fell, two crimson figures appeared overhead. They unleashed boundless quasi-immortal pressure that rolled outward like a tidal wave.
With a deafening boom, that shockwave hurled a large number of elves away, Vanya included.
Vanya had only reached the lower levels of the Heaven Gaze Realm, so she stood no chance against a quasi-immortal’s strike, and she spat out blood.
Fury detonated inside Liu Wuxie. He had already used Ghost Pupil to sweep the planet, but had only sensed the Faceless Clan’s patriarch. So where had these two quasi-immortals been hiding?
After stepping into the Quasi-Immortal Realm, one could conceal portions of heaven’s secrets. Those two must have suppressed and hidden their cultivation, which explained why Liu Wuxie hadn’t discovered them earlier.
“Damn it!” Liu Wuxie flashed forward and caught Vanya as she fell, her internal organs already damaged by the impact.
Fortunately, Vanya’s physique was strong enough to withstand it. Anyone else at the lower levels of the Heaven Gaze Realm would have died the instant that blow landed.
The rest of the elves fell into chaos, scattering and tumbling through the air, and the advantage they held moments ago evaporated on the spot.
Makurat’s expression darkened with the sudden appearance of two additional quasi-immortals.
“You actually invited the Mad Demon Ancestors!” Makurat roared in fury. It was apparent he recognized them.
The Mad Demon Ancestors had become infamous over the years. They were twin brothers who had always stayed together since childhood, and it was even rumored that they shared their wives. Whether they ate or slept, they clung together like shadows.
They moved as one at all times, and people said their minds were linked, each able to sense the other’s thoughts.
The Faceless Clan’s patriarch sneered. “Today, I’ll make sure you don’t leave this place alive!”
He had clearly predicted the Elven Race’s invasion and had invited the Mad Demon Ancestors days ago, preparing this counterstrike in advance.
The Faceless Clan would have dared to fight the Elven Race alone, but they couldn’t gamble once they learned Liu Wuxie was present. That had forced their patriarch to pay an enormous price to bring the Mad Demon Ancestors here.
“Tian Can, help me restrain one of them!” Liu Wuxie said as he handed Vanya to an Elven elder. He had already stabilized her injuries, but she could no longer remain on the battlefield and had to withdraw.
Tian Can flashed forward, charging the crimson figure on the left. The twins looked identical, and even those closest to them struggled to tell them apart.
Before Tian Can could land his strike, both Mad Demon Ancestors lunged straight toward Liu Wuxie. They hadn’t agreed to this invitation for resources alone. They wanted Liu Wuxie dead as well.
They had long heard that Liu Wuxie was “the chosen one,” overflowing with fortune, and they intended to seize that fortune by killing him. On top of that, Liu Wuxie had refined the Heretic God’s remains, and that alone was enough to make countless quasi-immortals covet him.
If anyone killed Liu Wuxie, they could pry out the secret of reaching the Immortal Realm, and such a secret could drive any quasi-immortal mad. That was why the Mad Demon Ancestors had rushed over after hearing his name.
The moment they closed in, the twins split apart. With their linked minds, they could swap positions at will, but that wasn’t even the most terrifying part. Their combined techniques could erupt with power comparable to three to five experts striking together.
That meant Liu Wuxie wasn’t truly facing “two” quasi-immortals. Under certain conditions, one plus one did not equal two, and that was exactly why the Mad Demon Ancestors had dared to come even after hearing Liu Wuxie had killed Chu Zhongtian.
They believed they could kill him here. However, they missed one crucial fact that Liu Wuxie had just stepped into the second-level Heaven Gaze Realm, and he had already pushed the Heavenbound Immortal Finger to the level of an immortal art.
Tian Can hadn’t even reached them when an invisible force slammed into him and sent him flying back with a thunderous rumble.
Tian Can had followed Liu Wuxie for a long time, and his strength had risen sharply during the refinement of the Heretic God’s remains. Ordinary quasi-immortals couldn’t match him, but a crimson figure had sent him flying in a single exchange.
Liu Wuxie narrowed his eyes. The Mad Demon Ancestors were more troublesome than he had expected.
“Young Master Liu, they’ve mastered the Nine Palace Secret Diagram. It lets them form the Nine Palace Divine Array, and it can even trap a quasi-immortal,” Makurat transmitted his voice.
Even without Makurat’s warning, Liu Wuxie could tell their cooperation ran with eerie precision. Even he would struggle to find a flaw if he fought them head-on.
Liu Wuxie activated Ghost Pupil, piercing through layers of distortion, and he quickly realized the Mad Demon Ancestors also excelled at concealment. They relied on spatial refraction. What looked like multiple bodies were only refracted shadows, lacking true offensive force.
Even divine sense would struggle to distinguish their true forms from illusion, which told Liu Wuxie at once that they weren’t ordinary opponents. Still, they couldn’t fool him for long, and Ghost Pupil soon dug out a weakness in the Nine Palace Secret Diagram.
“The Nine Palace Secret Diagram already rivals an immortal art. The Mad Demon Ancestors aren’t ordinary figures. Why would they willingly step out for the Faceless Clan?” Liu Wuxie murmured.
A crimson figure had already swatted Tian Can away and now appeared directly in front of Liu Wuxie. He treated Liu Wuxie as the true target and didn’t bother taking Tian Can seriously.
As a quasi-immortal, how many ages had he lived? In the blink of an eye, countless figures filled the sky, forming a massive cage that sealed Liu Wuxie inside.
“Divine Mad Demon Palm!”
A gigantic palm shot out and pinned Liu Wuxie in place.
Tian Can tried to intervene, but the overwhelming force blasted him back again.
The Faceless Clan immediately launched a counterattack. Many elves were flung away earlier, and their injuries had weakened them. They now fought with far less strength than before.
That only ignited Liu Wuxie’s anger.
The feud between the Elven Race and the Faceless Clan had nothing to do with him, but the Faceless Clan’s helpers had injured Vanya. How could it not ignite murderous intent that threatened to burst through his bones?
“Great Five Elemental Immortal Art!” Liu Wuxie had no choice but to unleash it. The strike sent the Divine Mad Demon Palm flying, shattering it into fragments.
The difference between those two palm techniques was obvious. Although Divine Mad Demon Palm brushed the edge of immortal arts, it couldn’t compare to a true immortal art, and the Great Five Elemental Immortal Art had already crossed that threshold.
Violent ripples tore outward in a gale, blasting the Mad Demon Ancestors away.
The twins stared in disbelief. “This is impossible! How did you survive our attack?!” They had underestimated Liu Wuxie, assuming he could only contend with a quasi-immortal at best, yet he still surpassed their expectations.
“I want you dead!”
Liu Wuxie’s killing intent surged, and an axe imprint appeared behind him. The instant it manifested, horror flashed across the Mad Demon Ancestors’ faces.
“What a terrifying domain!” Their domains could only imprison and suppress, but Liu Wuxie’s domain brimmed with destruction, as if it could cleave heaven and earth with a single fall.
Even Liu Wuxie couldn’t fully explain what the axe imprint truly represented.
“Attack!”
The Mad Demon Ancestors moved again, and Tian Can rushed to suppress one of the twins on the left.
“Tian Can, hold him off!” Liu Wuxie’s order carried iron certainty. He knew he couldn’t afford to face both at once.
With one twin pinned, Liu Wuxie could kill the other by relying on the Heavenbound Immortal Finger, the axe imprint, and astral domain force.
Once one of them fell, the Mad Demon Ancestors’ overall power would plummet. They relied on the Nine Palace Secret Diagram, and Liu Wuxie had already found its weakness, so he would never allow them to reunite and regain their full formation.
“Master, don’t worry. He won’t escape!” Tian Can answered. Faith had changed his allegiance, but it hadn’t dulled the brutality carved into his bones.
He unleashed strike after strike, and the immortal runes he had gained from the Heretic God’s remains fused into a pinnacle blow.
At the same time, Liu Wuxie struck as well. He knew Tian Can couldn’t restrain his opponent for long.
The Mad Demon Ancestors far surpassed ordinary quasi-immortals. If they were only two normal quasi-immortals, they would never have forced Liu Wuxie into such a hard fight.
“Liu Wuxie, damn you!” With one twin restrained, the other burst forward like a comet, appearing right in front of him. The sonic boom from that surge shattered space, making the entire planet tremble.
One of the Mad Demon Ancestors attacked. “Divine Bliss Fist!”
Liu Wuxie felt as if his face would explode under the pressure, and that alone proved the terror packed inside that fist.
He had poured quasi-immortal laws into the punch, and the strike became even more devastating.
The fist force rippled outward, tearing through spatial resistance as it shot toward Liu Wuxie’s face.
Liu Wuxie commanded the axe imprint behind him to chop down.
The instant the axe imprint descended, the Mad Demon Ancestor’s heart jolted. He instinctively stepped back, and the power of his punch weakened by a fraction.
The axe imprint had no physical body, yet space hissed the moment it fell. It violated all logic, and nothing about it made sense.
The axe fell twice as fast as the Mad Demon Ancestor could react, striking him cleanly. The imprint carried a sliver of soul force, and the victim let out a scream of agony.
At the same time, the Divine Bliss Fist still reached Liu Wuxie.
“Heavenbound Immortal Finger!” Liu Wuxie unleashed his newly forged immortal art before the strike could touch him.
