Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1695 1695: A New Way

Every Phantom, regardless of his talent, was limited in how he could use his abilities.
Unless the ability itself allowed for some freedom of action or multiple options, a Phantom could not significantly alter his ability in any way.
Even when a Phantom learned to freely control his energy, it did not allow him to alter his abilities in any way.
If a Phantom’s ability was to create a fireball, the best he could hope for was that if he put more energy into the fireball, it would become larger and more powerful. That’s it.
A Phantom could not split his fireball, alter its properties, or transform the fire into another form, such as a spear.
This limitation was strict and remained in place for most of the First Circle, for every Phantom from K0 to K4 Level.
But at the K4 level, when a Phantom began to approach true power and unlocked all the locks, revealing the full power of his Evolution Tree, the situation began to change.
Adam felt this fully when he trained with Tron at the Sky Cube and a little earlier when he was experimenting with the Imaginary Cut.
Now that nothing held back his Evolution Tree and he could freely control his energy, he could alter his abilities, though not drastically.
The End Bliss, specifically the wings woven from three types of threads, had so far been his greatest risk.
Adam didn’t simply increase the power of the light rays or change the shape of his wings to make flying easier.
No, he changed the very essence of his ability, forcing the light prepared for destructive rays to become nothing more than fuel for his speed.
“Oh…”
The Dark Knight blinked, impressed. From Adam’s expression, he understood what was happening.
‘So he decided to alter one of his abilities just to stand a chance against me?’ The Dark Knight’s expression grew more serious. ‘Not bad, not bad at all. But still… what the hell are his wings capable of?’
Step.
Adam stepped forward as his wings pressed against his back. The black threads forming the outlines resembled the branches of a dead tree, gloomy and shrouded in the energy of death, while the white threads were so numerous that they became a glowing canvas connecting the black, jagged edges.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
At the same moment, the amber light burst forth from the clusters, creating a bright flash.
In a heartbeat, Adam’s frame surged forward in a jagged blur, appearing right in front of the Dark Knight.
If only for a split second, Adam’s speed surpassed what Loargh was capable of at his peak.
SLASH!
The broad blade flashed in the Dark Knight’s eyes as he hurried to put up a block.
A cascade of sparks flew as the black needle and amber sword collided. But, for some reason, aside from the recoil, the Dark Knight felt something else.
“A-Agh?” His eyes jerked toward his shoulder.
The black needle was embedded halfway into his shoulder, blood flowing from its sharp blade.
“Wait… I didn’t have time to react?” the Dark Knight thought. His mind refused to accept this reality.
Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
The right wing trembled, drawing the Dark Knight’s attention. Two of the six vortex-like clusters on that wing had stopped emitting light outward and were instead concentrating energy at their centers.
“Your amber flame against my amber threads.” Adam lifted his chin, looking down at the Dark Knight. “Which would you bet on?”
Despite Adam’s words, the Dark Knight had no time for that.
The two energy beams were already flying toward him, and he had enough experience to know he couldn’t let himself be caught in that attack.
Unfortunately for Adam, he had forgotten that his opponent hadn’t yet played all his trump cards.
Tremble.
The dark cape, which, after the sword’s transformation, had shrunk to a small scrap of fabric on the Dark Knight’s shoulder, trembled.
In a heartbeat, the dark cape covered the Dark Knight’s entire left arm in thick fabric as two remaining red eyes opened on his arm: one on his shoulder and the other on his forearm.
The red eyes were autonomous. They knew what needed to be done to counter the looming threat, all to help the Dark Knight prevail.
“Wait, wait, wait!”
Shock flashed across Adam’s face as the second red eye opened wide, emitting a cone of black light.
CLASP!
As if they had never existed, the amber rays vanished.
Just like before, the red eye began to twitch from side to side, but it didn’t close. Instead, it managed to snap back into place.
‘Agh? Was that not enough to drain it? SHIT!’
“Huh.”
The Dark Knight smirked as he raised his left arm.
“Let’s see if you can withstand my hit, young Phantom.”
The amber light swirled wildly in his hand, and soon the trembling orb was in the Dark Knight’s grasp.
It was a tiny sun, filled with the frenzied energy the Dark Knight had been absorbing for a long time, waiting until he had enough power to move forward.
“Try dodging this, Adam.”
The Dark Knight lowered his arm as the amber flame rushed to engulf Adam.
Whooooosh! Whooooosh! Whoooooosh!
Suddenly, several projectiles flew in from the side as the crimson fire forced the dark cape to cancel the Dark Knight’s ability and focus on absorbing the fire.
Adam’s pupils narrowed as he realized this was his chance.
Without hesitation, the ancient energy surged through his right leg as he kicked the Dark Knight squarely in the face with all his might.
Crack!
A precise blow to the jaw twisted the Dark Knight’s head to the side as the impact sent him flying dozens of meters away.
“Gha…”
With a heavy sigh, Adam turned around, meeting Vyora’s gaze.
“I’ll help you!”
Adam smiled bitterly, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
“That’s good… But it looks like that bastard is still alive.”
He stared at the cloud of dust behind which a shadow was trying to rise from the ground after the crushing strike.
