Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1694 1694: New Wings

Whoooosh! Whoooosh! Whoooosh!
The Dark Knight didn’t waste any time.
As soon as he dealt with Sarka, he immediately attacked Loargh. Sure, Sarka was still alive, but she had effectively lost both her arms and was exhausted. There was little chance she could land even one more hit on the Dark Knight.
All she could do was watch as the Dark Knight fought the others and wait for him to come and end her life with a single swing of his sword.
“You won’t escape me!” the Dark Knight exclaimed, easily keeping up with Loargh’s speed.
Loargh, who had been moving in a white flash, turned over his shoulder. His face showed only fear and disbelief.
‘How? How did he get so fast? I’m running at full speed!’
It was true.
Loargh’s wings trembled, and all he could focus on was getting as far away from the Dark Knight as possible. He needed to put some distance between them before taking further action, but the Dark Knight wouldn’t let him do it.
In fact, this became a crucial detail for Adam in his analysis of the fight. He knew that sooner or later it would be his turn, and what had happened to Sarka frightened him, but he couldn’t give up before it was time.
‘Sarka and now Loargh… I’m sure he’s gotten stronger and gained some abilities, but none of that matters against his incredible speed.’
Adam’s gaze hardened as he realized one thing:
‘If I don’t find a way to become at least as fast as Loargh, nothing but death awaits me.’
He turned to Vyora, but she wasn’t much help. Right now, out of the four of them, she was the weakest and most helpless. The Dark Knight was the worst opponent for her: strong, fast, and capable of absorbing any attack.
This put Adam in a difficult position. He knew it wouldn’t take even a minute before the Dark Knight knocked Loargh to the ground.
He had to come up with something, and right now.
‘Fuck! Think! Think! Think, or he’ll cut you to pieces!’
Adam recalled all the abilities he possessed in search of an answer.
‘Maybe use the Ancient Energy on my legs? Tsk, that won’t be enough!’
The Dark Energy was only for his one ability. It wouldn’t work either.
But none of Adam’s abilities could make him faster.
The only exception was his Nexus. The Staff of Defeat allowed him to teleport over short distances literally.
‘Tsk, just when I need my Nexus the most, I can’t use it!’ Adam clutched his head. ‘What do you know, Gladius? Was my death part of your plan? How am I supposed to defeat this bastard?!’
Adam’s eyes darted from side to side until they landed on the Dark Knight’s shoulders.
He remembered how he’d inflicted those wounds on him, how he’d learned to use the Imaginary Blades in a different way, and how he’d made that ability stronger through training at the Sky Cube.
“Wait… If I were able to change this ability, even just a little, then I could do the same with the others, right?”
CLUTCH!
At that very moment, the Dark Knight finally caught up to Loargh, grabbing him firmly by the shoulder.
With a pale face, Loargh looked back.
The Dark Knight grinned widely.
“Caught you!”
SLASH!
With a swing of his sword, the Dark Knight sliced through Loargh’s wings, leaving a deep gash across his back.
“ARGGHGHH!!!”
With Loargh’s pained growl, a torrent of blood gushed out as his white wings shattered into hundreds of fragments, slowly drifting before his eyes.
BAM!
The Dark Knight’s fist slammed into Loargh’s jaw, driving him into the ground with such force that a tremor rippled across the entire battlefield.
“Alright, I’ll at least finish you off.” The Dark Knight raised his sword, preparing to pierce Loargh’s heart.
Before the irreversible could happen, a cry rang out from the side:
“NOOOOOOO!”
Vyora cried, clutching her chest.
“Don’t you dare do that! If you need energy… then… then kill me instead!”
The Dark Knight blinked several times. He looked surprised.
“Whoa, so it turns out you have a brave heart? I didn’t expect that from you.”
He waved his hand dismissively. “You do realize I’m going to kill every one of you, don’t you? However, if you want to be first, I’m willing to grant your wish.”
Step.
He stepped forward, intending to appear in front of Vyora and attack her just as he had done with Sarka.
However, something made the Dark Knight stop.
Adam stepped in front of Vyora, staring intently at the Dark Knight.
Unlike Vyora, who was trembling with fear and despair, there was not a hint of defeat in his gaze, and the Dark Knight noticed it right away.
“You.” The Dark Knight pointed at Adam. “You’ve been hiding some kind of trump card, haven’t you? Otherwise, I have no explanation for why you look so confident.”
In response, Adam shrugged.
“Not exactly. Rather, I just came up with my new trump card right now.”
“Hah, that’s only possible in critical situations, isn’t it?”
Adam said nothing as he released his entire aura outward in a single pulse.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The space trembled as Vyora’s knees wobbled from the black-and-white flame emanating from Adam in a powerful surge.
Soon, his aura vanished, leaving in its place two kinds of threads, black and white, that rushed to form wings behind him.
It had been a long time since he’d used this ability.
With the help of the End Bliss, he defeated Vaarh and managed to survive in the Primal Lands. This ability possessed devastating power.
But for that, the target had to stand still, and Adam knew that with the Dark Knight, that was impossible.
That was precisely why he figured out how to use this ability for another purpose.
“I’m counting on you,” he said to himself.
Lone Blaze smiled faintly, controlling all three types of his threads from within: the black, white, and amber ones.
“Don’t worry, I get your idea. Leave the rest to me.”
At that very moment, the wings with black outlines and a white base were ready.
The amber clusters were supposed to fire energy rays at Adam’s target, but now they had a new purpose.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Instead of energy rays, the amber clusters emitted a bright light like the flame from a rocket engine, giving Adam the speed he so desperately needed.
