Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1698 1698: Dark Path (Part 2)

The very moment Adam absorbed all the energy of the black flash, he gained access to the Dark Energy.
He placed a cluster of dark matter at the top of his Evolution Tree, thereby not only granting himself new power but also making the Silver Weaver stronger.
In fact, the Silver Weaver was Adam’s first ability to contain a portion of the Dark Energy, long before he absorbed the entire black flash.
But it was only in the Primal Lands, through a deal with Zargos, that Adam unlocked the full power of the Silver Weaver, which granted him a new needle resembling a black greatsword with a wide, sharp blade.
At the Sky Cube, Tron taught him that he could use his Dark Energy to create a dark version of one of his abilities.
His choice fell on the Future of the Past, which gained the Glare of Final Determination, the dark version of its ability.
It seemed that Adam had reached his limit in using Dark Energy, at least for the time being.
But that wasn’t quite the case.
“Agh?”
Confusion flashed in Adam’s eyes when he heard the Silver Weaver’s voice.
“What the hell are you talking about? I don’t have time for your games!”
The Dark Knight was approaching. He moved cautiously, as he didn’t know what Adam would do now that he had demonstrated his mastery of the Dark Energy, yet he remained as confident in his victory as ever.
Adam had to act here and now. Only [Glare of Final Determination] could give him even the slightest chance of victory.
‘If I have any way to bridge the abyss between us, it’s only with the dark energy!’ Adam exclaimed inwardly.
The Silver Weaver smirked as, in an instant, his ghostly copy appeared beside Adam. Only Adam could see him. It wasn’t the same as when Silvana used her spectral form.
‘I know. That’s exactly why I told you not to waste that precious energy on that ability. Do you really think he won’t find a way to survive the dark spear or somehow block it?”
Adam was speechless. The Silver Weaver was right. Adam wasn’t sure if he had enough strength.
“We couldn’t even destroy the energy layer emanating from his cape. Even if the power of the dark spear is enough, it definitely won’t kill him. He’ll suffer a serious wound, writhe in pain, and then rip your head off and devour that shard.’
Clutch.
Adam gripped the hilt of his needle tighter, ready for battle.
‘What do you suggest?’
The Silver Weaver smirked, directing his gaze toward the dark blade.
‘Isn’t it obvious? Use my power to its fullest. Your needle turned black under the influence of the dark energy. Why did you decide your path remained the same?’
For a moment, Adam froze as the realization hit him.
If his spear had a dark version, and he held the black needle in his hands, what was stopping him from going further?
Step.
The Dark Knight was about to attack when Adam shifted his stance.
He gripped his needle with both hands, pressing the hilt against his chest while the tip was aimed at the Dark Knight like a deadly spear.
A black blur flashed before Adam’s blue eyes as thick darkness engulfed everything around him.
Tremble! Tremble! Tremble!
Usually calm and mysterious, the dark energy was now in a wild roar, emanating from Adam while his expression remained calm.
Shiver!
For the first time in the entire battle, a shiver ran down the Dark Knight’s spine. He felt fear, for even he could not ignore the dark energy.
“So this is your answer?!” the Dark Knight exclaimed, gripping his sword tightly. “Great! Let’s end this in one attack! Right here, right now!”
The crimson darkness burst from his sword in a violent surge, as all the power of his cape surged into the amber blade.
They both knew this was the final move, and only one of them could walk away alive.
‘I’m counting on you, bastard,’ Adam thought to himself. ‘If you’re wrong, we’ll both die.’
The Silver Weaver lifted his chin, gazing haughtily at Adam.
‘Huh? When was the last time I was wrong? We’ll win, do you hear me? We’ll win! We’ll do whatever it takes!’
Step.
Simultaneously, they both stepped forward as Sarka came to her senses.
‘Argh?’
With difficulty, she raised her head, looking at the two figures shrouded in darkness. Two forces that, in an instant, collided in the middle of the battlefield.
Like two domes, two trembling fields, the dark and crimson energy clashed, causing the sword field to tremble.
Adam’s needle tip collided directly with the amber blade, becoming the epicenter of their clash.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Their hearts pounded rapidly. Each had poured everything into this attack.
“RRRRGGGGHHH!!!” Adam clenched his teeth. His veins bulged, and streams of blood flowed from his eyes.
His body was at its limit, but his field didn’t begin to tremble first.
Thrust!
A surge of Adam’s darkness swept through a gap in the Dark Knight’s field, slamming into his shoulder. Blood gushed out, causing a searing pain to flash across his face.
He was losing. His crimson darkness was yielding to Adam’s dark path.
Perhaps he should have started to panic or finally felt the fear of imminent death and accepted his fate.
But, for some reason, the Dark Knight wasn’t looking into Adam’s eyes. He was staring at the trembling veins on Adam’s neck, at the blood running down his face.
‘This blood…’ He glared at his sword. ‘You feel it too, don’t you? Something about this blood isn’t right! Something… or maybe it’s…?’
Thrust!
A stream of blood gushed from the Dark Knight’s left leg.
Very soon, Adam would shatter his field, and then Adam’s darkness would turn him into nothing.
Run.
He had to run.
STEP!
The Dark Knight stepped forward, looming over Adam.
‘NOW!’ Adam cried inwardly, ready to deliver the final thrust.
Suddenly, the Dark Knight opened his mouth wide.
THRUST!
His human teeth sank straight into Adam’s neck, with enough force to tear off a substantial chunk.
