Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1699 1699: Blood Plan

It was not uncommon for a fight to end with a single powerful attack from two fighters at once.
This was a logical conclusion to the battle, given that it had already been going on for some time and both fighters were roughly equal in strength.
If the first fighter poured all his remaining strength into a final attack, the second simply couldn’t ignore it. It was impossible.
Even if the second fighter was in a better position, as long as the first fighter could kill him with his final attack, the second fighter had to respond in kind to avoid death.
Sure, if the difference in strength had been significant, there would have been no need for a final attack. But in that case, the fight would have ended quickly from the start. It simply wouldn’t have come down to final attacks.
Thus, when Sarka woke up and raised her head, she immediately understood what was happening here. She saw the Dark Knight and his crimson energy, and Adam with his darkness.
They stood on opposite sides of the arena, and the next time she blinked, their frames trembled, and they collided right in the center of the sword field.
‘Agh?’ Sarka watched in disbelief as Adam’s darkness tore through the Dark Knight’s field. ‘Is he winning?’
In fact, that was exactly what was happening.
The Dark Path turned out to be a far more powerful ability than Adam or the Dark Knight had expected. Even the Silver Weaver, deep down, was impressed by the power emanating from its core.
Adam’s White Path, the original one, aimed to reach a distant point and destroy every obstacle in its path.
The Dark Path was similar. They were two sides of the same ability, but thanks to the Dark Energy, they differed in some ways beyond just firepower.
Its goal was not to reach a point, but to destroy the designated target. The Dark Knight’s death and total victory were that very point for the Dark Path.
So, if the Dark Knight wanted to win, he had to possess something commensurate, whether it be defense or attack.
His sword and crimson energy were a formidable force, but that clearly wasn’t enough.
Then… then something happened that Sarka could never have expected.
Instead of trying to run away, dodge, or strike Adam with his aura, doing anything to win and avoid certain defeat, the Dark Knight opened his mouth wide and bit Adam right in the neck.
THRUST!
His teeth sank deep into Adam’s neck, but it immediately became clear that his goal was not to kill Adam with such a feral attack. His goal lay elsewhere.
Adam’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He might have expected such an attack from Sarka or someone like Alexia, but the Dark Knight was certainly not the kind of opponent who would resort to such measures, even in the face of death!
“RGGHHH!!! What the hell are you doing?!” Adam roared in pain, making one final thrust.
A wave of darkness crashed into the Dark Knight, shattering his field and unleashing the full might of the Dark Path upon him.
A hail of energy blades sliced through the Dark Knight’s chest, leaving a dozen deep gashes. A searing pain flashed across his face, but his jaw only clenched tighter.
BLAST!
The impact of the dark path hurled the Dark Knight aside, forcing him to slam into the ground again and again until he came to a stop next to one of the giant swords.
“Gha… Gha… Gha…”
Adam was breathing heavily as he fell to one knee.
“Shit,” he cursed, touching his neck. With his cold hand, he felt hot blood flowing from his neck in a powerful stream.
The only thing that made Adam smile was that the Dark Knight’s situation was significantly worse.
‘His aura,’ Adam noted, seeing the crimson flame billowing from the Dark Knight. ‘It’s getting weaker. Does that mean he’s finally reached his limit?’
Tap.
Adam sensed something.
He turned around only to see the Silver Weaver’s hand on his shoulder.
‘We did it. I don’t know what that wild last attack of his was, but it didn’t help him win, nor survive.’
The Silver Weaver narrowed his eyes, staring at the Dark Knight.
‘His wounds are too severe for someone like him. After this, there’s no turning back.
“GHA!”
Suddenly, the Dark Knight coughed as a piece of Adam’s flesh, part of his neck, fell into the Dark Knight’s hand.
He smiled bitterly, pressed the sword to his chest, and looked at Adam one last time.
Adam was ready to devote this time to the Dark Knight, the last few seconds of his opponent’s life.
‘Very soon…’ He thought. ‘Very soon the light will fade from his eyes, and it will all be over.’
Whooooooosh!
Suddenly, the Dark Knight swung his left arm as his cape fluttered. Darkness once again enveloped his hand in thick black fabric as all three red eyes appeared on his hand.
Their pupils darted frantically from side to side until they came to a stop.
“What the…?” Adam muttered, since the target of the red eyes was not him, but the Dark Knight himself.
Soon, a cone of black light emerged from the three eyes, engulfing the Dark Knight.
Adam’s eyes filled with shock as he realized what his opponent was about to do.
“Hah.”
The Dark Knight chuckled.
“Good luck, Adam.”
At the same moment, the cone of light engulfed the Dark Knight.
He vanished from the battlefield, along with his cape, sword, and a piece of Adam’s flesh.
Adam and Sarka exchanged glances as they blinked in disbelief. They were speechless, for neither of them believed that even in his escape, the Dark Knight had any chance of survival.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
As soon as the Dark Knight fled the battlefield, a violent quake sounded from the distance, causing Adam to turn around.
The Frenzied Shard was radiating its energy outward in the hope of finding a new servant, someone who could protect it from Adam.
Adam sighed heavily, struggling to get up from the ground.
“Either way, it’s just you and me here now, right?”
