Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1740: Inevitable Gaze (Part 2)

Adam had only two abilities that had been altered, and each of them was a trump card capable of turning the tide of battle.
He had very little Dark Energy left, so Adam wouldn’t be able to use these two abilities one after another. Until he became strong enough, he would have to make a choice.
This time, he decided to call upon his spear.
Sure, his path was likely a far more destructive and powerful ability. After all, the power of this ability depended not only on Adam, but on the Silver Weaver, who was the foundation of his Dark Energy.
However, Adam was certain that Zin would find a way to dodge his path. Zin was too fast thanks to his ability to use the sounds around him. Literally everything around them was an opportunity for Zin to escape the area of effect.
“But you won’t be able to dodge this.” Adam’s gaze grew intense, fixing on Zin as if he were a judge passing a death sentence.
Zin felt it bearing down on him. He didn’t know exactly what lay behind Adam’s gaze, but it certainly couldn’t be anything good for him.
’This attack is full of dark energy. No! His ability consists of it! I must do everything to dodge this spear!’
Unfortunately for Zin, he still didn’t know that it was impossible. Not for someone with his power level, anyway.
Click.
The eye signs opened as the red rays fell upon Zin, his sole target.
At the same moment, Adam leaned his body back.
“This spear…” Someone muttered, staring intently at Adam’s grip. “Isn’t it too weak?”
“Yeah, it looks like it’ll dissipate in the next moment!”
The young man on the sidelines raised his nose confidently.
“Ha! He overestimated his strength! He doesn’t have enough Dark Energy to unleash his full power! That’s exactly why the best he can do is this!”
Two spectators exchanged glances. One of them rubbed his cheek. “Maybe I did the right thing by not betting on Adam Vinter?”
Before his buddy could answer, the arrogant young man chuckled.
“You should have bet on Zin the moment he appeared in the arena! He’ll win! Once this Phantom uses up all his Dark Energy, there’ll be nothing standing in Zin’s way!”
In fact, many agreed with him. Most of the monsters still supported Zin, even though Adam had wounded him twice.
They couldn’t place any more bets, but it was important to them that a monster, one of their own, would win, not a Phantom.
However… Zin couldn’t agree with them.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
His heart raced as Adam arched his body and threw the spear.
In a heartbeat, the black spear streaked across the arena, approaching Zin at tremendous speed.
In fact, Zin wanted to block the black spear, but as soon as he saw how fast it was, he had to change his plans.
’Damn it!’ He exclaimed inwardly, throwing his arm out to the side.
With his eyes wide open, Zin snapped his fingers as he moved to the side.
Whoooooosh!
The black spear whizzed past him on the left, leaving not a scratch on him.
’Agh? Is it over?’ Zin was in disbelief. ’I just had to dodge his attack?’
Obviously, Zin couldn’t believe it was that simple, so his eyes followed the black spear as it moved straight toward the wall.
Blink.
Zin blinked as the black spear vanished.
“What the hell…?”
Instinctively, Zin spun around only to see the black spear hurtling toward him from the other side.
Click!
Zin snapped his fingers again to dodge the black spear, but this time the spear was faster than he expected. The spear’s energy grazed Zin, leaving a cut on his side.
“Tsk.”
Click! Click! Click!
Time and again, Zin snapped his fingers to dodge the black spear, which was getting faster and faster with each strike.
“No! I can’t keep this up!” I have to get rid of this spear!’
Zin glanced at his apple and bit his lip. He couldn’t use it to create a shockwave. Its power wouldn’t be enough.
’Right, he’s already used it, so it’s my turn!’
Having made his decision, Zin snapped his fingers once more, moving to the far side of the arena opposite Adam.
The black spear immediately changed its direction to pursue him, but this time Zin was ready for it.
’I should have done this from the very beginning. I didn’t need to dodge it. I just have to destroy this spear!’
Tremble! Tremble!
His aura surged to its limit as the purple energy coursed through his arms, moving toward his palms. These weren’t sound waves, but ancient energy, as was evident from its flaming shape.
“He used it!” someone exclaimed.
“Hah! Yes! Zin, show this Phantom your power!”
Zin ignored them. Now all his attention was on the massive spear moving straight toward him.
’It’s become not only faster but stronger, right? In that case, I mustn’t hold back! I must use everything I have!’
The purple flame flared up as soon as Zin spread his arms wide.
Some of the spectators realized what he was about to do as they covered their ears in advance.
“Gha!” Zin took a deep breath before slapping his palms together.
CLAP!
A deafening clap, filled with all the ancient energy Zin possessed, spread forward, destroying everything in its path.
The solid ground shattered into rocks that flew upward due to the sound wave, while the cracks in the far walls widened.
The entire arena shook from the purple sound wave that raced straight toward the black spear and Adam, who stood in a line before Zin.
’You won’t be able to dodge this!’ Zin exclaimed inwardly.
“Agh?”
In less than a split second, Zin’s expression changed from fierce to bewildered.
Adam and the black spear vanished right before his eyes, though he hadn’t even blinked.
Tap.
At the same moment, a shadow appeared above the arena, shrouded in the green light from the emerald clock.
Meeting Zin’s frightened gaze, Adam gripped his spear tightly, which was now larger than himself, trembling in the crimson energy swirling through the darkness in a wild vortex.
“The sounds won’t help you, Zin.”
Adam’s voice rang out before he, in a sudden movement, brought his spear crashing down directly onto Zin.
