Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1739 1739: Inevitable Gaze (Part 1)

Just moments ago, Zin was in grave danger. He had to severely damage his apple to fend off Adam.
However, despite what had happened and the fact that Zin had to use one of his trump cards, his current situation was far better than Adam’s.
Apart from two fairly serious wounds, Zin had everything under control. He could use his apple a few more times and then wait for it to recharge.
Obviously, this wasn’t a common apple, but Zin’s weapon. He needed time and a lot of energy to recharge his apple, which was impossible to do during a fight.
Adam wouldn’t give him even half a minute, let alone anything longer.
He could keep fighting, especially now that Adam had spent all his ancient energy, and Zin still had plenty of resources he could use. Including his ancient energy.
But soon, everyone held their breath when they saw the veil of darkness covering Adam’s hands.
The two spectators exchanged glances, confused.
“Is that his energy?”
“Yeah, looks like it. Maybe it’s some kind of ability? But… even if that’s the case…” He shrugged his shoulders. His teeth were chattering. “Why am I so cold, then?”
Many of the Black Threat Level monsters had a similar reaction, including both unranked ones and Fangs.
As on any land, only a small portion of the Black Threat Level monsters could use the Dark Energy. Like the K4-Phantoms, to do so, they needed to be on the border of the First Circle, that is, directly in front of the Lord Level and the Second Rank in the Phantoms’ case.
Unlike the K4-Phantoms, the monsters here knew about the Dark Energy, so no one questioned what kind of power was enveloping Adam’s hands.
However, no one could understand where Adam had obtained the Dark Energy.
Only Sarka, Loargh, and Vyora, the monsters who had gone to the Pit with Adam, knew about this. To some extent, it was this very power that allowed them to survive the battle against the Dark Knight. If Adam had lost, a quiet death would have awaited them all.
“The Dark Energy…” The woman muttered, her face turning pale.
The young man next to her frowned, his face red with anger.
“Damn it! Why did he decide to reveal this only now? I can’t take any more risks!!!”
It wasn’t just the common monsters who were shocked, but also someone like Es’aha.
With a frozen expression, she slowly turned to Kaerno, who was already staring at her with a sly smirk, waiting to see her reaction.
‘He knew… He knew that Adam Vinter possessed the Dark Energy. But where from? How did he do it? I couldn’t find out anything about him after he went to the Primal Lands!’
Even Es’aha couldn’t find much information on Adam. After all, in the Primal Lands, he had met someone very important. Someone who loved peace and quiet above all else.
‘Shit!’ She cursed inwardly. ‘So that’s why he’s so confident in his victory? No, it can’t be that simple! Even if Adam Vinter has the Dark Energy, Zin still hasn’t lost. Kaerno isn’t stupid enough to be confident in his victory just because of that one trump card!’
Suddenly, loud laughter, like a rumble, echoed from behind.
“Hahahahahah! Now that’s a twist!” Garzo laughed, slapping his knee.
Es’aha spun around sharply, a grimace on her face.
“What’s so funny, Garzo?”
In response, he leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand.
“Nothing. But aren’t you curious to see how Zin handles this? Look, unlike everyone else, he isn’t scared. I haven’t seen him react like this in a long time.”
Wanting to know what Garzo was talking about, she turned her gaze to the arena, to Zin.
Zin gulped, staring at the dark flows rushing past Adam.
“So that means the First Star, even though you are a Phantom…”
Step.
Zin took a few steps forward, not to attack, but to hear the Dark Energy better.
Sure, it wasn’t the first time Zin had seen the Dark Energy. In the Hollow Lands, there are quite a few monsters that exist just below the Lord Level barrier.
However, he had never before seen a K4-Phantom possess the Dark Energy, especially one like Adam, who had not yet reached the end of his evolution.
As if forgetting the battle, Zin closed his eyes, concentrating on the sounds surrounding him.
One by one, he filtered everything out until only Adam’s heartbeat and a faint, eerie ripple emanating from the dark flows remained.
A faint smile appeared on Zin’s face. This sound vaguely resembled what he had been searching for at the cores in the far reaches of the Pit.
‘Good. This was an unexpected discovery, but I haven’t heard this sound before…’ He nodded inwardly, listening intently to every detail. ‘These flows are so calm, yet unshakable. What else would one expect from the First Star, right? Ah… How I wish I could stand before it, before the real First Star…’
Unfortunately, even the most powerful beings in this world could hardly have fulfilled Zin’s wish.
‘Alright, I didn’t come here for that.’
Zin gripped his apple tighter and slowly opened his eyes. He stared at Adam’s chest, at his heart, which right now must have contained Queen Elisa’s blood.
“Hey, Zin.” Adam’s deep voice rang out, causing him to lift his gaze. “It seems the Dark Energy wasn’t your goal, though it turned out to be a pleasant surprise for you, didn’t it?”
In response, Zin smiled bitterly.
“I won’t hide it from you. You’re right. But, as I said earlier, I can’t tell you what my goal is.”
“I see.”
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Adam’s aura grew stronger as the Dark Energy transformed into the gloves covering his hands. On each glove was the red eye symbol, which was now staring directly at Zin.
“From the very start of the battle, I was your only target, so it would be fair if I return the favor.”
Clutch.
Adam clenched his fist as a long black spear of trembling energy appeared in his grasp, and the red eyes on his gloves shone brightly in a terrifying crimson light.
