Endless Leveling Done Right! - Chapter 610: A Promise For The Future

Chapter 610: A Promise For The Future
“Please come and visit us again!”
“We’ll be waiting!”
“We will look after the graves for all of you!”
The Dryads and the Fairies bade goodbye to Alex’s group at the outskirts of the Shadow Forest. Although there had been quite a few mishaps along the way, the trip had finally come to an end.
“We’ll come back with our babies next time!” Francesca waved at her sisters.
“That’s right!” The other Dryad, Lyla, flashed a cheerful smile. “By then, the little ones will already be walking. The forest will surely become livelier.”
“My baby will be the cutest of them all!” the third Dryad, Sylphy, shouted. “I’ll work hard to bring two of them back!”
As if on cue, the three Dryads hugged Finn from his left, his right, and behind.
The Fairies and the Dryads all cheered, some of them even whistling as if congratulating their sisters for finding their special someone.
Meanwhile, Finn averted his gaze. But his face was already beet red from all the attention that he was getting.
Even Alex and Dim Dim grinned mischievously, amused by this side of Finn they rarely saw. Fran also smiled faintly, happy to see her brother finally opening up to other people.
Poppy and Dewdrop also waved at their friends, wishing them well until the next time they saw each other.
With this kind of promise, it seemed that Alex and Fran would have to return to the forest with Finn, the two Fairies, Francesca, Lyla, Sylphy, and their kids… hopefully.
“Work hard, Finn.” Alex patted his brother-in-law’s shoulder, while giving him a thumbs up.
Finn didn’t reply, feigning deafness. This kind of gesture from Alex would have been enough to anger him in the past. But now, he could take it in stride.
It wasn’t just Alex and Fran who had grown up a bit on this journey. Finn had done the same and might have accidentally taken the lead with Alex, who was still in the initial stages of his relationships with his lovers.
The trip back to the Town of Ambertrail was a bit embarrassing for Alex. They had originally traversed the rough terrain by running, since going there with a carriage would have taken them a longer time.
As such, they decided to return by taking the same route.
But Alex had yet to regain his strength and couldn’t manifest his skills. So… Fran had to carry him to their destination.
“I’m sorry, Fran,” Alex said. “I’m such a burden.”
“You’re not a burden,” Fran replied. “Also, I’ve grown stronger on this trip. You actually feel a bit lighter.”
Fran wasn’t lying. She had become a Rank 5 Dwarven Berserker. This should have taken her a few years to achieve, but it seemed like the Shadow Forest had given Fran some kind of power boost to help her rank up easily.
Alex and Finn remained at Rank 3. However, they didn’t feel envious or jealous of Fran’s progress. They were even happy for her. After all, the stronger she was, the less she needed their protection.
In fact, Fran had grown strong enough to single-handedly protect Alex and Finn if they were in trouble.
Dim Dim traveled while riding on a magical shield. Poppy and Dewdrop traveled with him and held on for dear life as they traveled at high speeds.
The Dryads followed behind Finn, allowing him to take the lead. Even though they could travel faster than him, they decided to watch his valiant effort. They would even wipe his sweat and give him some water to drink during their short breaks.
Clearly, Finn was receiving the VIP treatment. He was still not used to it at all.
But since they traveled in a straight line, they managed to arrive at their destination within a few hours.
Before entering the city, Francesca and the Dryads changed their appearances to look more like humans. Dim Dim even gifted them some traveling clothes that fitted them automatically.
Alex already predicted that the moment they stepped inside the Town of Ambertail, all the guys would be staring at Francesca, Lyla, and Sylphy due to their beauty.
Francesca felt like spring personified, while Lyla had summery vibes.
As for Sylphy, she was a cold beauty that represented winter. A beauty whose face and heart only melted when she was with Finn.
And just as Alex expected, the guards managing the Town’s Gate used an inspection as an excuse to strike a conversation with the three ladies, making Finn frown.
“He’s already being overprotective of them,” Alex whispered to Dim Dim. “How manly.”
“Kukuku!” Dim Dim chuckled.
Fortunately, the guards weren’t the boorish kind. After paying the entrance fee, Alex and his companions managed to enter the town without any form of harassment.
“So this is a human city.” Lyla looked around, taking in the sights and sounds.
Even Sylphy had a very curious look on her face as she surveyed her surroundings.
Among the three Dryads, only Francesca remained calm. She simply walked a few steps behind her excited sisters, making sure they wouldn’t do anything reckless.
Alex walked beside Fran, Dim Dim perched on top of his head like usual.
Poppy and Dewdrop sat on Fran’s shoulders as they headed to the Flying Port, where they would buy their tickets for a flight back to the City of Harmonia.
After doing so, the group boarded an airship and rushed to the taffrail, eager to see the city from above when ascending.
Because of this, several men approached the Dryads.
“My lady, meeting you here must be fate,” a handsome noble said with a smile. “May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?”
“I’m sorry, but I’m already married to this wonderful man,” Francesca replied before hugging Finn from behind. “Please, look elsewhere for your fated one. Oh… the two ladies over there are also his wives. Please don’t approach them either, okay?”
After hearing that Francesca, Layla, and Sylphy were already married to a dwarf, all the men clicked their tongues and glared at Finn hatefully.
This time, Finn stood his ground and glared back at them. He had honed his glaring skills through Fran’s suitors, so his glare was actually very intimidating.
The nobles flinched and reluctantly backed off.
Dim Dim pondered a bit before also glaring at the nobles. Alex and Fran chuckled at the sight.
No matter how hard Dim Dim tried, people would just think that it was adorable for trying to look intimidating.
Poppy and Dewdrop also giggled after seeing Dim Dim’s attempt to look scary.
Half an hour later, the airship finally took flight.
Alex and Fran looked in the direction of the Shadow Forest while holding each other’s hand.
“When we return… let’s go with the three of us,” Fran said without even glancing at Alex.
Her face was flushed, as if she had said something truly bold.
Alex didn’t understand what Fran meant right away. But when he saw how red her face was, it finally dawned on him that she wasn’t talking about Dim Dim or Finn.
She was talking about going back to the Shadow Forest with their child.
“Yes,” Alex replied as he gave Fran’s hand a light squeeze. “Let’s do that.”
“Mmm.” Fran nodded.
Although the future she saw was filled with difficulties, Fran believed that the young man beside her could overcome all obstacles and give her the happiness that would make up for the loneliness she had suffered in the past.
