Chapter 611: That’s Not How A Gentleman Should Treat A Lady
The clock had just struck midnight when Alex and his group’s airship landed in the City of Harmonia.
Walking along the nearly empty streets, Alex held Fran’s hand with his right hand and Dim Dim’s sleeping basket with his left.
Tired from playing pirate the entire day, the little bun had fallen into a deep, peaceful sleep. Earlier, it had climbed the mast of the airship and jumped on its sails, scaring some of the sailors tasked with keeping things in order.
Poppy and Dewdrop also slept in Dim Dim’s basket. They were just as tired from being stared at by countless people during the trip. Fairies weren’t usually seen in towns, so some people struggled to pull their gaze away.
The night air was cold. Fran leaned on Alex’s shoulder, taking this nice long walk in stride.
Finn walked hand in hand with Francesca and Lyla while Sylphy lagged a few steps behind them.
The three had already made an arrangement beforehand to ensure the dwarf wouldn’t feel stressed with the three of them around him.
The guards recognized the students, but they had to ask Francesca, Lyla, and Sylphy about their identities.
Fran told the guards that they were special transfer students and would have an audience with the Headmaster in the morning.
Although still in doubt, the guards allowed the three ladies entry. After all, the ladies were with Fran and Dim Dim, whom the guards had a good impression of.
They were more willing to bend the rules for those who often gave them snacks whenever they were on duty.
Francesca and her two sisters didn’t forget to thank the guards politely, knowing that first impressions last.
Alex escorted the group to the farm where they would stay. Finn and the Dryads entered first while Fran stayed behind with her boyfriend.
“Good night, Fran,” Alex said
“Good night, Alex,” Fran replied before motioning for him to lower his head.
Alex obliged, and the two of them shared a kiss on the lips. It lasted for a few seconds before they reluctantly pulled back.
“Take Dim Dim for now,” Alex said. “Poppy and Dewdrop might feel anxious if they wake up surrounded by strangers. It’s best that they stay with you tonight.”
“Understood.” Fran nodded. “Rest well, okay?”
“I will.” Alex bade her goodbye before walking back to the dormitory. But when he was already halfway there, he changed his mind and headed to the clock tower.
Although he believed Latifa was already asleep, he suddenly had the strong urge to see her.
Of course, he also wanted to see Lotte and Lumi.
When he arrived at the clubroom, the first thing he noticed was Latifa’s empty bed.
The young lady had been training a lot recently, but the young man believed she wouldn’t sacrifice proper sleep.
Feeling a little worried, Alex went to the secret room of their clubroom, which they had repurposed into their training ground. Latifa and her Alters often sparred there with Renard, Charles, and Nessia.
But even that room was empty too.
“Where could they have gone?” Alex muttered as he started searching for them.
However, as soon as he turned around, he froze.
Before him was the adult version of Latifa, except that it was Lulu.
A sense of dread immediately washed over Alex’s body as he summoned Everguard and Sacrament.
But as soon as he gripped their handles, he almost dropped them. To his surprise, their weight had suddenly increased.
“Oh… that’s not how a gentleman should treat a lady, Alex,” Lulu said with a smile.
“Where’s Latifa and the others?!” Alex growled, doing his best to not show any kind of weakness. “Where did you take them?!”
Lulu didn’t answer. She simply smiled at the young man, who was struggling to lift his shield and weapon off the ground.
“Is there something wrong, Alex?” Lulu asked. “Seeing you weakened like this makes me want to cuddle you.”
“Lulu, I’ll ask you one last time.” Alex glared at the beautiful lady in front of him. “Where is Latifa?!”
Lulu was his favorite among Latifa’s Alters. But after his recent experiences, he found it hard to find her lovable.
Even her womanly charms failed to move him. His mind was too worried. What if his lover had been taken hostage, just like Fran back in the Shadow Forest?
An evil smirk appeared on Lulu’s face as she moved closer to Alex.
“You want to know where she is?” Lulu teased. “Then pay the right price to get this piece of information.”
Alex finally snapped and tried to attack Lulu with his warhammer. But since he couldn’t use his full strength, he looked like a desperate man trying to swing a hammer that was way too heavy for him to lift.
“Oh dear. You’re not hitting anyone with that strike, Alex.” Lulu giggled. “Do you want me to help carry your hammer for you?”
“Screw you!” Alex raised Everguard and took a step forward. “Shield Charge!”
Faint sparks burst out from the surface of the shield as it tried to manifest the power of Alex’s Shield Charge.
Unfortunately, that didn’t work. Instead, he stumbled and crashed to the ground.
Fortunately, Lulu grabbed his clothes, preventing him from hitting the floor face first.
“Okay, please calm down,” Lulu said, anxiety creeping into her voice. “I don’t want you to hurt yourself.”
“Where is… Latifa?” Alex seemed to have suffered a backlash after trying to forcefully activate his skills. “Where is… s…”
Alex’s words halted when he felt warmth envelop him from behind.
“I’m here,” Latifa said softly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were hurt.”
Lotte and Lumi also appeared and crouched down to help support Alex. Both of them looked anxious. They had never seen their lover look so weak.
Alex looked at the three ladies in confusion before shifting his gaze to Lulu, who seemed just as concerned
As if reading his mind, Latifa held him tighter and whispered in his ear.
“This Lulu is different from the one you met,” Latifa whispered. “I also ranked up, Alex. I have four tails now.”
The feeling of relief and exhaustion washed over Alex after hearing that the Lulu in front of him wasn’t an enemy.
However, as if what little spark inside his body had been snuffed out, the young man closed his eyes and slipped into a deep slumber.
