Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Aiden’s Tactics and Everyone’s Reactions
Outside the trial of the broken weapons infused with killing intent, the talented contestants were plunged into silence.
This was the first time they had ever witnessed such a brutal battle. There were hundreds of warriors out there, but less than fifty remained alive.
Moreover, the words of the deceased, nameless General, and the mention of reinforcements by the soldiers had left all the talented contestants with a heavy heart.
What kind of crisis was Earth facing to reduce women, children, and the elderly to being the last line of defense?
Finally, someone couldn’t hold back and asked in a low voice, “Is all of this really happening?”
“But why didn’t I know anything about it before I came here?”
Graham slowly turned his head to look at that talented contestant, sighed, and replied:
“It is real. Countless battles have taken place right here in this place. Even the Divine Powerhouses cannot estimate exactly how many human warriors have died and been buried here.”
“You didn’t know because it happened too long ago. The earliest battles should be traced back a thousand years.”
A thousand years?
The crowd present couldn’t help but widen their eyes in shock. Their expressions were filled with stunned disbelief.
Graham lowered his head slightly. True peace for humanity has only lasted for less than a hundred years.
Of course, this figure also included times when the Abyss creatures hadn’t invaded on a large scale. Matters like the Abyss invading a city within the Great Shaw Empire were almost negligible.
According to what his teacher had mentioned, the various recent events were signs that the war between Earth and the Abyss was about to begin again.
“The experience Aiden just went through was likely just the beginning. The strongest trial of the broken weapons infused with killing intent is by no means simple,” Graham muttered with a heavy sigh.
The unknown was the most despairing thing of all.
He had no idea how many Abyss creatures would appear in the trial. Maybe all the warriors would die in the upcoming battle, leaving only Aiden.
“Alright, get ready,” Graham thought to himself. “The moment Aiden fails in the trial, I’ll be there instantly to stabilize his soul damage.”
Cassian scoffed, sneering with extreme mockery, “As I said before, a Reclasser like Aiden isn’t worth BellaLord’s attention at all.”
“Maybe BellaLord made a wrong judgment about him in some way.”
Cassian spoke from the bottom of his heart. Human geniuses come in different strengths. The strongest were naturally students from divine powerhouses like his own.
That’s why, whether facing Aiden or any other talented contestant, Cassian always kept a lofty, superior attitude.
“Look! Aiden is arranging his tactics!” one talented contestant suddenly shouted in surprise.
In an instant, everyone’s eyes snapped back to the trial of the broken weapons infused with killing intent.
There, Aiden stood calm and collected, quickly whispering orders to the remaining warriors:
“The new enemies will be here soon. We’re running out of time. From now on, listen to my commands!”
The warriors nodded vigorously.
They had just seen Aiden’s performance in the fight, and since the General had appointed Aiden as his successor before dying, not a single warrior felt the slightest complaint.
After a brief thought, Aiden ordered the remaining fifty warriors to form a unique formation.
From afar, their positions looked like an arrow, only missing the sharpest tip.
“What kind of formation is that? Will it even work against those Abyss creatures?” one talented contestant asked his neighbor, unable to hold back.
“Sigh, it probably won’t have much effect. It doesn’t even look complicated.”
“With less than fifty warriors left, no formation can really handle the coming enemies, in my opinion.”
“If I were in their shoes, I’d be thinking about giving up right now.”
“The enemy numbers are just too far away, and there’s no other choice. The final outcome is probably total annihilation.”
Victor muttered, hearing the nearby gossip. He took a deep breath, clamped his fists tight, and spoke with determination:
“The Captain must have a reason for this!”
Nellie watched the formation formed by the warriors, instinctively frowning as she wondered:
“It doesn’t feel simple. This is clearly an Arrow Formation. Normally, you’d place a mighty general at the very front to take the heavy pressure, break the enemy lines, and shield the others.”
Just then, Jenna, who also belonged to a hidden family, took a deep breath and spoke up:
“Aiden… is the arrowhead!”
The moment she said it, Aiden began to move within the trial of the broken weapons infused with killing intent. He walked slowly forward, taking his place right at the front of all the warriors—directly in the arrowhead position!
This sight made both Nellie and Jenna gasp in shock.
“The Captain is being too reckless!” Nellie swallowed hard.
At that moment, Victor also realized what Aiden was thinking. His tactical skills weren’t bad at all; he had just been too worried and missed some details.
This Arrow formation had its pros and cons.
If the warrior at the arrowhead was strong enough, they could strike like a real arrow, dealing massive damage and diving deep into the enemy ranks.
But if that arrowhead warrior got trapped or killed, the soldiers behind them would be swallowed up by the overwhelming number of enemies.
To Victor, Aiden’s move right now seemed extremely dangerous.
Aside from doing this, there didn’t seem to be any other good options.
When Victor tried to put himself in Aiden’s shoes, he felt a deep sense of despair.
“There’s no way out except to die fighting. Is this the cruelty of war? Knowing death is certain, yet charging bravely into battle, with no one running away?” Victor whispered to himself.
Suddenly, a piercing sound of mockery drew his attention.
Cassian threw his head back and laughed so loudly that he had to clutch his side with one hand.
“So stupid!” he shouted, his voice dripping with mockery. “A Re-classer, especially a magic user, trying to fight like this? He’ll be taken down in a single exchange. All the rest of the warriors will die too.”
“Man, Aiden has definitely lost his mind.”
Cassian remembered the first battle clearly. Aiden had managed to kill quite a few enemies in the chaos. Yes, he had strength.
But that was only because so many warriors were still alive, drawing the majority of the enemy’s fire, giving Aiden a chance to sneak in.
The situation was different now. With fewer than fifty warriors left, Aiden was going to fail. That was certain!
“You’re the idiot!” Victor snapped, his anger bubbling over. He turned to Cassian and demanded, “Tell me, if you were in this situation, what would you do?”
The smile vanished from Cassian’s face instantly. His eyes turned dark and cold as he stared straight at Victor.
“Are you talking to me, boy?” Cassian’s voice was ice, filled with a sharp warning.
Victor opened his mouth to reply, but Nellie stepped forward suddenly. She gave Cassian a cold, dismissive glance and said:
“Seems like the Captain was right. Your hearing is truly terrible.”
Without hesitation, Jade, Cici, and Jordan all stepped forward, just like Nellie, facing Cassian directly.
The rest of the talented contestants exchanged a quick glance, then all stepped forward together in unison.
Only the contestants from the Azurecloud Empire and Rowan’s team from Aurelia stayed where they were, unmoving.
“Shouldn’t we join them?” one Azurecloud Empire contestant whispered to his teammate.
His partner shook his head and replied, “No. Let it go. Miles, our captain, died under mysterious circumstances during this Global Re-classer Exchange Tournament.”
“And Liam? He voluntarily gave up his spot in the Golden Great Wall for some unknown reason. If we make enemies of divine powerhouse students now, it wouldn’t be worth it.”
“Besides, I don’t think Aiden will pass this trial either.”
Rowan narrowed his eyes, glancing left and right at his teammates before speaking calmly.
“What’s your choice?”
An Insect Valley contestant hesitated, lowering his voice. “Aiden at least saved us. It doesn’t feel right to just stand here and watch.”
“And Cassian is really annoying.”
Hearing this, a faint smile appeared on Rowan’s face, and he nodded.
He didn’t like Aiden, and he certainly didn’t like Cassian either. But without Aiden, his teammates wouldn’t have been able to safely leave the front line.
Rowan took a deep breath and suddenly stepped forward. His voice rang out loud and clear:
“Even if you are a divine powerhouse student, you are not better than Aiden!”
Whoosh!
Several Insect Valley contestants immediately followed Rowan, locking their gazes on Cassian.
Cassian’s expression shifted to pure shock. He never expected that a few words would cause such an uproar.
“W-wait… did I say something wrong?” he stammered.
“It seems you don’t care about entering the Golden Great Wall then!” Cassian couldn’t stand this anymore.
Why do you guys support Aiden so much?
Did he brainwash you?
Cassian was utterly confused.
He admitted that Aiden was stronger than average talented contestants, but surely not to the point of shocking him this much.
“Just keep watching to see if I’m right. If Aiden truly passes this trial, I’ll apologize to all of you!” Cassian took a deep breath and took a slight step back.
He quickly turned his head to look at the trial of the killing intent remnants.
And the moment he saw it, his eyes instantly lit up.
