Chapter 311: Chapter 311: A Dying Graham
“What is that? A giant dragonfly man?”
One of the talented candidates spotted the scene and shouted in alarm.
Graham whipped around. Just one look was enough to make his face turn deathly serious. He roared,
“It’s the Swarm!”
“Run! Scatter and run!”
Even from this distance, Graham could feel the terrifying power radiating from those two the Swarm creatures.
“They’re incredibly strong. Their power is almost equal to Robert’s!” Graham’s pupils widened to their absolute limit, and every hair on his body stood on end.
He never expected to meet the Abyss creatures here. Not just one, but two!
“Cassian, buy us time to escape!” Graham turned to shout. But then he saw Cassian. A pair of red, fiery wings had suddenly burst from his back.
“What are you doing?” Graham demanded angrily.
Cassian glanced at Aiden and said quickly, “Don’t be stupid. Both you and I are Level 70+ Reclassers. We can’t stop them. Just run! When this happens, there’s nothing we can do!”
“Surviving is the only thing that matters.”
Without a second of hesitation, Cassian activated the flames on his wings. He skimmed low across the ground, leaving all the candidates far behind.
The gap in power between high-level Reclassers is massive. A Level 70+ Reclasser facing an Abyss creature as strong as Robert would be destroyed in an instant.
Seeing this, Graham was furious. He took a deep breath, pulled out a fist-sized piece of black dried meat, and shoved it into his mouth.
“Aiden, why are you just standing there? Run!” Black patterns flashed across Graham’s skin once more.
Aiden shook his head. Unless it was a divine powerhouse or an Abyss Demon God attacking him, he’d be safe.
Besides, this situation didn’t necessarily mean they had to run.
“Those two the Swarm creatures look like they’re fleeing for their lives,” Aiden said quickly.
Graham blinked in surprise and immediately looked behind the creatures.
Sure enough, two red chains were streaking through the air at blinding speed, chasing them down.
As soon as he saw the red chains, Graham let out a huge sigh of relief and whispered, “That must be who made that noise just now.”
“We still need to be careful. What if those Swarm creatures try to use us as leverage…?”
Graham didn’t finish his sentence. The two Swarm creatures suddenly sped up, moving like lightning as they flew straight toward them.
“Damn it! That’s exactly what I didn’t want to happen!” Graham cursed.
He was only a Level 70+ Mythic Rank Reclasser. Against Abyss creatures as strong as Robert, he was practically helpless.
Still, compared to the other talented candidates around, he was the strongest.
So, Graham didn’t think about retreating. Instead, he prepared to fight to the death.
If he could just hold them off for a few seconds, the pursuers would catch up, and all danger would vanish.
“Captain, let’s go!” Victor shouted, taking a deep breath.
He and Nellie, Jenna, Jade, Jordan, and Cici hadn’t run away immediately. They were waiting for Aiden.
Aiden took a deep breath. He knew he could escape, but he wasn’t sure about Jordan or Cici.
Plus, facing those panicked Swarm creatures, even Nellie and Jenna might be in danger.
“I’ve got your back,” Aiden whispered softly.
To Graham’s astonishment, Aiden’s Psychic Bracelet suddenly flared with light.
One of the Swarm creatures suddenly halted. Confusion flashed in its massive compound eyes.
But it only lasted a split second. The creature shook it off and returned to full speed.
“Damn it! Why are you slowing down?” the other Swarm creature roared.
In the middle of a desperate escape, even the slightest hesitation could be fatal!
As if on cue, the Swarm creature in the rear was instantly wrapped up by the red chains.
Zzzzt!
A terrifying, scorching sound erupted immediately. The chains were burning hot, piercing straight into the Swarm creature’s body in the blink of an eye.
“Damn it! You haven’t seen the last of me!” the remaining Swarm creature screamed. Without hesitation, it turned and dove straight toward Aiden and the others.
Graham’s eyes flashed with desperation. His legs bent sharply, and the ground beneath his feet caved in with a crunch.
Boom!
The roar shook the air. Graham launched himself from the ground, tucking his head back and raising his elbows as he charged straight for the enemy, risking everything.
“Mountain Shatter!” Graham bellowed.
Just then, Aiden’s smoky black wings spread wide. He plunged straight into the shadows while still mid-air.
Watching from above, Cassian sneered, his lips curling into a disdainful smile. “Thinking about running now? It’s too late.”
“Still, that’s strange,” he muttered to himself. “Why is Aiden running toward the front?”
Before Cassian could ponder it further, Graham had already reached the air.
“Overconfident!” the Swarm creature scoffed. It moved like lightning, swinging a fist loaded with terrifying Strength straight at Graham’s elbow.
Boom!
A massive shockwave exploded outward, and splashes of bright red blood flew everywhere.
Graham’s body felt like it had been hit by a speeding train. He bent double, flying backward through the air and crashing straight into the ground.
Boom!
Squelch!
He was embedded deep into the earth, his bones shattered and internal organs ruined. Blood gushed from his mouth.
Yet, even in this state, he refused to give up. He tried to lift his body with his twisted arms.
“Run… run fast!”
“Aiden… has he escaped?”
“Good…” Graham groaned. Every time he breathed, huge amounts of blood poured out.
This was the gap in power between a high-level Reclasser and a high-level Abyss creature. Just one hit had left him dying.
“But it was all worth it,” Graham thought to himself.
Just then, the Swarm creature locked onto Victor, Nellie, and the others. It flapped its translucent wings behind it and shot forward like lightning again.
Fear flashed in Victor’s eyes, but it vanished instantly. He gripped his weapon tight and raised it high.
Nellie and Jenna didn’t want to just sit there and wait for death, either. They were ready to fight back.
Suddenly, a spatial rift tore open directly in front of the Swarm creature!
The fast-moving Swarm creature sensed the danger. It snapped its wings backward, hovering instantly in mid-air.
In the next moment, Aiden, who was still hidden in the shadows, suddenly felt a cold, killing stare fixed on him.
His soul stabbed with intense pain.
Without any hesitation, Aiden activated his skill, Smoke Form, and prepared to trigger the blessing of the Supreme Miko.
Even a Mythic Rank Shadow Stealth skill felt too easily exposed when facing an enemy with such terrifying power.
But what surprised Aiden was that the expected attack never came.
Thanks to the delay caused by Aiden and Graham, the red chains had finally reached the Swarm creature.
“Damn it! It’s all your fault, you trash!” The Swarm creature’s face twisted in fury.
He had a perfect plan: capture these humans to use as leverage. Even if he couldn’t trade for his companion, it would give him enough time to escape safely.
But these two weak humans had actually managed to hold him back!
“Humans, if you dare kill me, the Great…”
Before he could finish, the red chains sliced through the air with a sharp hiss. A flash of red light passed by.
Instantly, the Swarm creature’s neck was wrapped tight by the chains.
Zzzzt!
“Aaaaaah!” A piercing scream tore through the air.
Standing up with bones shattered and pain beyond imagination, Graham watched this scene and finally let out a huge sigh of relief.
His legs gave way, and he collapsed toward the ground.
Fortunately, Nellie quickly used her Radiant Thorns whip to catch him and keep him from hitting the dirt.
Then, under the gaze of Aiden and the others, the fire-red chains suddenly tightened. The two helpless Swarm creatures were slammed hard into the ground, sending clouds of dust flying everywhere.
As the dust settled, a man surrounded by countless drifting red chains slowly emerged.
His hair and eyes were red, glowing with an eerie light that made it hard to look at.
“Graham,” he said calmly, “if your body’s durability had been any lower, you’d be nothing but meat paste right now.”
Graham managed a tired smile. “Can’t help it. I’m weak. But you weren’t that great either. If you were just a bit stronger and faster, I wouldn’t have had to charge in like that.”
He rolled his eyes. He had already used his full speed.
He was close to catching the two Abyss creatures that had broken into the Golden Great Wall. If only he’d had a little more time.
But fate had a twist. Right there, he bumped into Graham, the one leading the genius candidates into the Golden Great Wall.
Slowly turning his head, he stared into the shadows behind him.
Aiden stepped out from the darkness, sheathing the Abyssthe Flame Demon staff.
“Good job. Your strategy was solid,” the man said. “You just underestimated your enemy. Otherwise, the enemy would have slipped right into the spatial rift you created.”
“What’s your name?” he asked.
Aiden replied calmly, “Aiden.”
Hearing that name, the man’s eyes narrowed. The fire-red chains surrounding his body vibrated violently.
“Is that Mysterious Treasure Map fragment on you?” he asked, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked at Aiden.
