First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2733 - Demanding an Explanation

Chapter 2733 – Demanding an Explanation
Over on Heaven’s Viewpoint, Eldest Prince Qin Shangque watched solemnly.
Over on the shore of the lake, Second Prince Qin Liuhe furrowed his brow. He’d lost all interest in fishing.
Over on the roof of the pavilion, Eldest Princess Qin Suqing looked dazed. Tidal waves of shock coursed through her heart.
Throughout the imperial city, everyone watching from the shadows looked stricken. Their scalps went numb with fright.
The old man in Daoist robes was called Nie Song, and he was a Silent Realm retainer of the Great Qin Empire’s imperial family. He typically watched over the Pavilion of Sages.
The Great Qin Empire was home to billions of people, and its cultivation world was flourishing, but it still had only a few hundred Eternals in total.
Its mightiest experts were Immeasurable Realm Dao Lords, but they were the rarest.
Silent Realm experts were just one notch beneath them. They, too, were top experts in their own right!
Nie Song was one of them, and his position was so lofty that even scions of the imperial clan had to greet him respectfully as their senior.
As a Silence Realm expert, Nie Song was a terrifying, lofty existence known throughout the Blue Peak Continent!
Yet now, he’d been forced back. A young Unfettered Realm cultivator was suppressing him!
Who wouldn’t have been surprised?
The Golden Halo Dragon Formation rumbled and boomed, scattering a rain of golden light. It, too, felt the impact of this battle.
Nie Song’s face was already black, blue, and swollen. His whole body was covered in wounds, and his Daoist robes were in tatters. He looked wretched to the extreme.
This was in stark contrast with how domineering he’d acted earlier.
In truth, he was really on the verge of losing his mind. Fighting all out didn’t cut it. The divine ability he kept in reserve wasn’t doing the trick, either.
Even his Eternal weapon… wasn’t enough!
In this head-on confrontation, he was at a complete disadvantage. He looked utterly unseemly!
Nie Song had lived for countless years, and he’d seen countless geniuses and proud chosen of heaven in his time.
But he’d never seen someone as monstrous as Su Xuanjun.
It was impressive enough that he’d beaten Divine Wandering Realm Eternals with such ease. Now, he fought with such ferocity that even an old-timer of the Silence Realm like him could barely fight back!
Moreover, Nie Song could say with certainty that Su Xuanjun really was in the Unfettered Realm.
Experts at each of the Five Realms of Eternity had starkly different powers of the Grand Dao and starkly different auras. It was all but impossible to fake in battle.
But that was why Nie Song found this so bewildering. He couldn’t even imagine where a monster like this had come from.
Boom!
In the blink of an eye, Nie Song took yet another blow. The impact slammed him into the dirt, creating a massive crater.
He saw stars and coughed up blood repeatedly. He was now badly injured, and he struggled to get back to his feet.
But Su Yi was already descending from the heavens!
Nie Song visibly panicked, but it was already too late to dodge.
If he couldn’t block this, he might well die. At the very least, he’d lose all ability to fight back!
Boom!
It was then that a glinting blue spear appeared out of nowhere and thrust at Su Yi’s head with unbelievable speed.
Su Yi shifted, dodging by a hair, but this gave Nie Song an opening. He fled further away.
Meanwhile, a thin man in black appeared holding a blue spear. He was the one who’d intervened earlier, saving Nie Song at a critical juncture.
When the experts watching from the shadows saw this, they sighed in relief. Earlier, their hearts had been quivering with fright; they’d almost thought Nie Song, a Silent Realm senior, was doomed!
“Thank you, Brother Mo,” said Nie Song, both ashamed and grateful.
The thin man in black was called Mo Ruzhen. He was the chief retainer of the Great Qin Empire’s imperial family, as well as one of the five strongest experts in the imperial city!
“Step back and tend to your wounds. With me here, you can rest assured,” Mo Ruzhen said calmly.
“Understood!” Nie Song stepped back.
Mo Ruzhen, meanwhile, looked at Su Yi and said calmly, “Lower your head and come quietly. If you do, I guarantee you an opportunity to explain yourself. Even if you die in the end, I’ll make sure you’re convinced of our justice!”
His black robes swayed around his tall, thin frame, and his bearing was imposing. When he looked at Su Yi, his gaze was utterly cold.
“Is that so?” A handsome, elegant figure in white appeared out of nowhere. No one knew when he’d arrived, but they recognized him. This was none other than Pu Xuan.
Mo Ruzhen’s pupils constricted, and he was just about to say something when Pu Xuan seized him by the throat and held him aloft, his face flushed red.
Pu Xuan said with a smile, “I respect Fellow Daoist Su like a father. Who do you think you are to talk to him like that?”
The corners of Su Yi’s lips twitched. You respect me like a father? Only you would be able to say something like that in front of a crowd!
Mo Ruzhen was overcome with shock. This has got to be an Immeasurable Realm expert!
“Fellow Daoist Su, should I kill him?” asked Pu Xuan.
Su Yi glanced at the pavilion Qin Suqing was standing on, then shook his head. “No need to argue with fools.”
Pu Xuan mulled that over, then sighed. “Fellow Daoist, when I see your magnanimity and compassion, I cannot help but sigh over my own inferiority. It’s much like how a towering mountain evokes awe and reverence.”
Bang!
He tossed Mo Ruzhen away.
Su Yi rubbed his forehead. “Why do I get the sense that you’re actually insulting me?”
Pu Xuan looked stunned. He pointed to himself, then said with the utmost certainty, “I meant every word, I swear it. Heaven and earth can serve as my witness!”
Su Yi didn’t know what to say.
Meanwhile, Pu Xuan’s arrival astonished the experts watching from within the imperial city. All of them were surprised. An Immeasurable Realm expert!? This means trouble!
In the Blue Peak Continent, Immeasurable Realm Dao Lords represented the pinnacle of power. They could go where they wanted and act with abandon, shaking the entire cultivation world at whim.
“Is that Pu Xuan? Wasn’t he supposed to have been surrounded in that courtyard?” exclaimed Second Prince Qin Liuhe. He hurriedly shifted his floating mirror’s view so that it displayed the courtyard.
When he saw the situation outside the residence, Qin Liuhe couldn’t help but gasp.
The ground was covered in bodies! Figures were strewn all over the place. He couldn’t tell whether they were alive or dead.
“Seriously, Big Sister? Why didn’t you tell us that Pu Xuan was an Immeasurable Realm Dao Lord? You sure set us up for trouble,” grumbled Qin Liuhe.
It had been two weeks since Qin Suqing had returned to the imperial city, but she’d refused to divulge anything about her companions’ origins.
Thus, it wasn’t just Qin Liuhe; the others hadn’t had any idea that the injured man in seclusion was actually a deeply hidden Immeasurable Realm expert!
The Immeasurable Realm!
It wasn’t just the Blue Peak Continent. Immeasurable Realm experts were the mainstays of the Eternal Heavens Domain’s cultivation world. They were far beyond Eternals of the first three realms of Eternity.
“We’re in for big trouble this time,” grumbled Qin Liuhe. He enjoyed a spectacle, it’s true, but not when it meant trouble for him.
Meanwhile, an old man in black appeared on the battlefield, seemingly out of nowhere. He held a white jade disc and gazed intently at Su Yi and Pu Xuan. “You two, this is the imperial city of the Great Qin Empire. Not even Immeasurable Realm experts can act wantonly here!
One figure after another appeared out of nowhere, filling the surrounding skies. They came from all different directions.
Soon, there were several dozen of them!
Their terrifying, murderous intent swept forth like the tides, filling heaven and earth. It sealed Su Yi’s escape routes off completely.
Over on the pavilion, Qin Suqing’s eyes widened, and chills coursed through her entire body.
Those were the old-timers who watched over the Great Qin Empire’s imperial family!
Some of them hadn’t made an appearance in a long, long time!
Over on Heaven’s Viewpoint, Eldest Prince Qin Shangque had a complicated look on his face. He murmured, “They singlehandedly caused such a huge commotion that they forced those old-timers into the open. Pu Xuan and Su Xuanjun… sure are something!”
Heaven and earth were brimming with murderous intent. The atmosphere was utterly oppressive.
Pu Xuan gazed into the dome of heaven. “If they circulate this formation at full power, it really will be strong enough to trap an Immeasurable Realm expert.”
But then, he retracted his gaze and looked at Su Yi. “But it can’t stop us.”
“Care to prove it?” the old man in black said coldly.
Pu Xuan suddenly sneered. “You haven’t even paused to confirm our guilt, yet here you are, attacking us like this even after we’ve repeatedly shown you mercy. We’ve been polite, but instead of treating us with kindness in turn, you’re trying to walk all over us.”
He swept his gaze around the group, his smile broadening. “You really don’t want to talk things over?”
Qin Suqing’s beautiful face was increasingly pale. Her heart was full of grief, bitterness, and pain.
She naturally understood that Su Xuanjun and Pu Xuan had refrained from killing anyone out of consideration for her.
Her benefactors were on one side, the retainers of the imperial family, and Sky Profound Court on the other. She could neither advance nor retreat!
“The Great Qin has stood for countless years, weathering all kinds of adversity. We aren’t so easily intimidated, nor do we fear any kind of threats!” The old man in black said coldly and firmly, “If you want to talk, lower your head. Otherwise, we’ll just have to fight!”
Pu Xuan furrowed his brow.
Su Yi took out a jug of wine, had a sip, and was just about to say something when Qin Suqing took a deep breath and bellowed, “Enough!”
Her gaze was now utterly emotionless, and she spoke slowly and clearly. “It’s obvious that you’ve raised such a massive force and leveled such accusations at my benefactors simply because you don’t want me to become the crown princess.
“Very well! So long as you agree to leave Fellow Daoist Su and Senior Pu Xuan alone, I’ll withdraw from the competition for the throne! Are you happy now?”
Silence descended over the area. Everyone’s expressions shifted.
Eldest Prince Qin Shangque sighed, a complicated look on his face.
Over by the lake, Second Prince Qin Liuhe pouted his lips. Big Sister, you’re far too willful. Was it really worth going to such lengths for two outsiders?
“Eldest Princess, this has nothing to do with the competition for the throne!” Yin Mu said gravely. “Su Xuanjun is highly suspicious, while Pu Xuan is an Immeasurable Realm expert. They obviously approached you with malicious intentions. If we don’t get rid of them now, we’ll be in for endless trouble later!”
His voice boomed throughout heaven and earth.
Qin Suqing’s eyes bulged. “Martial Uncle! I’ve already withdrawn from the competition for the throne. Why keep pushing? Can’t you take even a single step back?”
Yin Mu’s gaze remained cold and indifferent.
Here, Su Yi interjected, “Miss Suqing, even if they stopped now, it wouldn’t be enough. Pu Xuan and I aren’t leaving until we get a satisfactory explanation for what happened here today!”
Pu Xuan nodded. “That’s right!”
“Hah!” The old man laughed coldly. “Fine, remain stubborn. We’ll just have to see if you manage to survive this!”
As he spoke, he raised his formation disc into the air.
The several dozen old-timers gathered nearby seethed with murderous intent. All of them were ready and raring to go.
Qin Suqing bit her lip, her expression bleak.
She’d done her utmost to quell this conflict, but now, she realized that her title of “eldest princess” was nothing but empty posturing.
But just as a grand battle was about to break out, a dignified voice went off like a thunderclap, booming throughout heaven and earth.
“Fellow Daoists, please quell your fury. As the ruler of the Great Qin Empire, we shall naturally give you an explanation!”
