First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2767 - I Understand Your Ignorance

Chapter 2767 – I Understand Your Ignorance
Pu Xuan’s whole body silently went taut.
Mu Qing, Yu Guangjun, and Yang Lingxiao didn’t recognize this new arrival, but their hearts nonetheless quivered.
Everything blurred before their eyes, as if they’d fallen into misty clouds. All of their senses were severed.
All they saw was mist, and they heard nothing at all.
The boy in green was briefly stunned, but then he laughed coldly. “During the End of the Devastation, Six Heavenly Sovereigns lost their lives, and six Eternal Thrones were claimed, including that of Taiwu Grotto. If I’m not mistaken, you’re Ku Xuan, right?”
Ku Xuan came to a halt, then smiled. “That’s right! Since you’ve recognized me, there’s no need to keep up this disguise.”
His features silently transformed. He was now a middle-aged man in Daoist robes.
His face was as smooth as jade, and he wore Daoist robes. A river of stars flowed within their fabric, flickering with radiant starlight.
There was no doubt about it. This was Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s true appearance!
“You’ve finally shown yourself,” whispered Su Yi.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan exclaimed, “You anticipated my arrival, my young friend?”
“If not for you, how could I possibly give up on this sword?” said Su Yi. “Go on and take it. It’s right there.”
Pu Xuan finally understood why Su Yi was in such a rush to give up on this weapon fit for a Heavenly Sovereign.
He wasn’t concerned about the Heavenly Monarchs. He was concerned about this Heavenly Sovereign!
Had Su Yi kept the sword close, only for a Heavenly Sovereign to ambush him, the consequences would have been dire!
“That sword accepted you as its master. How could I seize your good fortune?” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said with a smile. “Of course, if you offered it to me willingly, I couldn’t bear to refuse it.”
Su Yi looked at the boy in green and said directly, “How many people long to serve a Heavenly Sovereign even in their dreams? A wondrous opportunity to do just that stands before you! Hurry up and take it.”
“I’m not a person,” said the boy, staunchly shaking his head. “I don’t care if people dream about it; I’m not interested. I just want to serve you, Your Excellency!”
Su Yi didn’t know what to say.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s eyes flashed. “Interesting!”
But just as he was about to take action, Su Yi said, “Right, there’s something I’ve been wondering. Why not intervene earlier? Why wait until now to step forth? How could a lofty Heavenly Sovereign like you be so cowardly?”
Heavenly Sovereign hooked a finger. “Give me a jug of wine, and I’ll explain.”
Su Yi tossed him a jug.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan threw back his head and drank. Only then did he smile and say, “It’s simple. All of those people who left earlier did so, certain that you’d acquired the sword. In doing so, they effectively resolved one of the biggest problems facing me.
“Going forward, who in the Eternal Heavens Domain will know that I am the one who acquired Great Sorrow?” Ku Xuan grinned. “Everyone’s going to think it’s you!”
Only then did Su Yi understand. He gave Ku Xuan a big thumbs up. “You really are a Demonist Heavenly Sovereign. How insidious!”
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan thought nothing of this. He just smiled. “I quite admire your caution and wisdom, too, my young friend.
“Back in the Huaihuang Empire, I promised to leave you a path to life when we met again. I’ll naturally keep my word.
“Do me one little favor, nothing big, and I’ll let you leave.”
“What kind of favor?” asked Su Yi.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan pointed to the boy in green. “That sword spirit obeys your every command. Tell him to enter Great Sorrow and not to leave or take any kind of action. That’ll be enough.”
The boy in green glowered, then roared, “I’ll fuck your mother, you old bastard!”
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan just glanced at him. The sword spirit’s got quite the temper.
Su Yi pondered briefly, then nodded. “Very well.”
The boy in green froze, then frantically tried to say something, but Su Yi didn’t give him the chance. “You said you wanted to work on my behalf, right? Well, do as he says.”
The boy’s expression shifted erratically.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan smiled at him. He looked at Su Yi, then at the boy in green, his expression calm.
Had Su Yi refused his offer, it would prove that he hadn’t really given up on Great Sorrow, and that all of this was just part of his plan.
Or, perhaps, that he had other means of turning the situation around.
Were that the case, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan wasn’t opposed to just killing Su Yi.
The cruelest aspect of all this was that the boy in green had been hurt by the very master he’d chosen for himself!
Even if the boy in green did as he was told, he’d surely be disappointed, resentful, and displeased.
It was enough. The way Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan saw it, he could use the boy’s disappointment in S Yi to win him over.
When Su Yi didn’t refuse his offer, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan felt reassured. This Unfettered Realm Dao Lord is indeed a clever one. He knows when to let go.
He knows he isn’t worthy of wielding a weapon fit for a Heavenly Sovereign, so he’s chosen to seek life instead!
Yet for some inexplicable reason, part of Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan was disappointed in him. He’s willing to abandon everything just to survive. He even hurt the sword spirit who only just helped him kill his enemies. Is a young sword cultivator like that really worthy of my admiration?
“I…” The boy in green hung his head, then said hoarsely, “I’ll do as you say, Your Excellency!”
He leaped into the sword, then fell silent.
Peach Blossom hovered there in silence, its ferocious aura silently fading away.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan didn’t rush to take the sword. Instead, he looked at Su Yi. “Sword cultivators ought to be fearless in the face of death. Is someone with no bottom line truly fit to call themselves a sword cultivator?”
Su Yi smiled. “I have my own view of what it means to be a true sword cultivator. You’re not my grandson, and I have no time to teach you my principles.”
“Oh,” said Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan. He smiled, but his gaze was noticeably colder. “Take your people and leave.”
Su Yi pointed to Mu Qing. “Shouldn’t you let them go first?”
“I never agreed to that,” said Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan. “If you’re capable of it, go ahead and take them.”
His gaze was playful.
Su Yi sighed. “You’re being far too dishonest.”
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan couldn’t help but laugh. “Each term must be discussed individually. That’s part of a negotiation. Letting you leave here alive is already an act of benevolence. I urge you not to take an inch and demand a mile.”
Pu Xuan’s expression was dark. Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan seemed friendly, casual, and unpretentious, but his words and actions are actually extraordinarily unreasonable. It’s fearsome and frustrating, too.
Su Yi gazed intently at him for a moment, then said, “I have only myself to blame for overestimating you.”
The statement seemed totally out of place.
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan looked at him, stunned, then understood. “Did you mistake me for a pushover based on our exchange in the Huaihuang Empire? If so, you’re far too naive.”
He sighed. “I enjoy reveling in the red dust of mundanity, and I treat the masses equally, but… that’s on the condition that I stand above them all!”
He paused, then looked at Su Yi. “In light of the fact that I once admired you, allow me to take this opportunity to teach you something.
“What is a Heavenly Sovereign? They’re those with power bestowed upon them by the Will of the Heavens, like the incarnations of the Eternal Heavens Domain!
“Do you think the heavens care if you insult them? Or if you think better of them?” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan shook his head. ‘They won’t! Similarly, I can follow my heart and converse with you, but you shouldn’t think that means we’re on a level playing field. To a Heavenly Sovereign, anyone without an Eternal Throne is an ant!
“The heavens are without compassion, and they treat all living beings as stray dogs. I might admire you, but ultimately, you’re little different from the rest of the teeming masses.” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s smile faded, and he asked softly, “Do you understand?”
Formless pressure bore down on them. Pu Xuan found it a bit difficult to breathe.
Su Yi pondered briefly, then nodded. “I understand, but why do I get the sense that your vision is ultimately a bit too narrow in scope?”
He’d met the River Lord and seen Gongye Futu’s magnificent bearing firsthand.
He’d seen Su Wangjun grip her sword and charge into endless time and space with unparalleled majesty.
He’d seen Old Lord Gouchen from the All-Profound Dominion, and his unparalleled ability to turn his enemies into sheep.
He’d heard the heart devil speak of Eternal Thrones and compare them to double-aged swords. They let Heavenly Monarchs preside over everything beneath the heavens, but they were also a form of shackles preventing them from proceeding to the Far Shore of Destiny.
Given the circumstances, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s words naturally had little impact on Su Yi. On the contrary, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s horizons actually seemed rather limited!
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan seemed briefly stunned. Then, he laughed. “An ordinary man looks at an ocean and sighs at the beauty of the waves, but look at you! I painted a picture of the heavens for you, but all you can see is the barest corner of it. How is that any different from looking at the sky from the bottom of a well?”
His interest visibly waned. “I overthought things. Your cultivation is inadequate; discussing such things with you was as pointless as playing the lute for a cow. I understand your ignorance.”
Su Yi seemed to approve wholeheartedly. “Very well said.”
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan shook his head, unwilling to discuss it any further. He stretched out his hand, and Peach Blossom whooshed into his grip.
He glanced down at it. “If I’m not mistaken, you’ve done something to this sword. This is most likely a trap; you’re trying to catch me off guard and kill me.
“But that doesn’t matter.” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan smiled. “To tell the truth, I acquired this sword to destroy it. I want it to vanish from existence!”
Su Yi raised an eyebrow. “Why is that?”
Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s gaze was deep and intense. “Because I have a grudge against its owner. Is that reason enough?”
With that, he tightened his grip.
Peach Blossom wailed, and the blade quivered. Faint cracks appeared on its surface.
More than that, the boy in green cried out in shock and anger from within it.
Su Yi narrowed his eyes and suddenly took a step forward.
“Just as I thought. You really haven’t given up on the sword,” said Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan. “My young friend, your schemes and tricks are ultimately too naive to work on me!”
Boom!
Dazzling silver radiance erupted from his hands, like a blazing river of stars. It bore down ruthlessly on the sword.
At the same time, the tyrannical pressure of a Heavenly Sovereign swept outward like an avalanche, suppressing Su Yi’s movements. He could no longer advance even an inch further.
“Consider that a warning. Keep pushing, and I’ll just have to kill you all,” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said with a faint smile.
As he spoke, Dao Light rose around him like silver flames, shaking the entire stretch of heaven and earth. Oppressive currents of silver light arose throughout the skies of the Blue Peak Continent.
This was the majesty of a Heavenly Sovereign!
He could easily affect an entire continent!
Peach Blossom wailed as if sobbing. The peach blossom insignia on its hilt was as red as blood.
It seemed it might shatter at any moment.
Boom!
Suddenly, the sovereign’s majesty that was suppressing Su Yi shattered.
He took a step forward, only for a red-robed figure to appear in front of him.
“Don’t be angry, my dear brother! Let me cut him first!”
