Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1878: Part 2: A Helping Hand

Chapter 1878: Part 2: A Helping Hand
Stone House
“It’s not safe for her to be here,” I thought.
The old man is silent. But I think the people behind the brown-haired, middle-aged man would notice his disappearance.
It’s possible for them to send back another team. My eyes gleamed with a twinkle; I should not take the old man’s words right away. I think I should do the investigation myself.
“Old man, do you have a map of the place?” I asked him.
Though I have a map with me, it was not detailed. I believe the old man has an important one.
The old man was not surprised. He was glad that the young man was asking for details. It showed that the young man was interested in staying here and was not thinking about leaving.
“Yes, I have a map with me. It’s a digital one.” After saying that, the old man shared the file with me.
Buzz!
I received the map on my device. Then, I began to access it. I noticed the current location was marked with details, including a mountain range located a few miles away from here.
The mountain range is called Granite Crest. It’s the mountain range the old man was talking about. Then, my gaze fell on the other side of the mountain range: the territory of a vast country.
The name of the country is Verdantwood. Like its name, the country is filled with lush green vegetation. There is a capital city called Verdant Capital.
There are many cities surrounding the capital, and many important places are marked on the map.
Then, my gaze fell on one particular spot. The name was written in the native language, but I was able to read it.
“Teleportation service,” I uttered.
The old man heard the words. He turned towards me and said, “I told you so. It’s located in the Capital City. I have an acquaintance there. They can help send you to your destined location,” he added.
My heart was stirred. The old man was not lying. So, this country is not some backwater region, but a technologically advanced one.
It’s similar to the Magic City. I heaved a sigh of relief. Maybe I don’t have to travel that long.
A quick gleam appeared in my eyes. My gaze then turned towards the dead body outside. I walked out of the house and approached the corpse.
I wanted to find information in his valuables. I checked the corpse and the fallen staff around the area.
He had emptied his storage bracelet before dying.
My gaze swept across the ground before finding a notebook. It appeared to be a diary. Seeing that, I picked up the notebook and put it inside the system space.
I didn’t want the old man to know. Just as I was going over the area, the old man came to my side.
“Did you find anything?” the old man asked. Now, his tone sounded serious.
“No, I’m just looking at the black armor. Did anyone raise such a private force?” I asked him.
The old man raised his eyebrows. He did hide a few things from the young man; he was afraid that the young man would leave after knowing too much.
After all, the young man is still a Supreme Wizard, while Magic Lord and Forbidden Level existences are involved.
“I don’t know,” the old man lied.
This time, the system saw the lie and informed me. Now I’m sure that the old man has been hiding something from me. But it doesn’t matter now. Since I know the existence of the teleportation facility, I should use it.
I thought of a plan before turning toward the old man.
“Okay, old man. I’m going to take the corpse with me. It will be helpful in my investigation,” I said.
Barry was taken aback. He did see the black armor; it could provide clues. He decided to let the young man have it.
“Okay,” Barry said.
The next second, I put the corpse inside my storage bracelet.
“I’m going to check out the place then,” I said to him.
The old man hesitated. He feared that the young man, Frank, might escape. Then he shook his head; he could tell the young man needed the teleportation platform.
“You can go. But don’t forget this place. We will be staying here,” the old man said.
Hearing that, I nodded to him. Then my gaze turned towards the little girl. Once again, I used the system to probe her condition.
The system says that she still has half a month left. I needed to find the culprit before then.
“I’m leaving then.” After saying that, I left the place.
I moved through the air, following the map route to the Granite Crest mountain range. I plan to stay near the mountain range until the system completes the update. Then, I will enter the city.
The old man watched the young man leave. Once the young man was gone from his sight, he entered the stone house.
It’s not like he didn’t have ways to save his descendant, but for that, he would need to take drastic steps, including causing chaos in the city.
However, he believed that with the young man’s help, he could save his descendant much faster. So, he made a bet on him.
Swoosh!
On the other hand, I left the area in the blink of an eye. I was supposed to head towards the end of the land, yet here I am going towards an unknown location.
But this is what’s called an adventure. I unexpectedly came across a relic here, and it’s useful for updating the system.
Time passed.
I don’t know how long I flew, but that evening I saw the silhouette of the mountain range. A hint of relief flashed in my eyes.
Finally, the mountain range was in sight. I could already feel the cool, rich mana in the environment.
If there were anyone with Elemental magic here, they would call this place paradise for sure. When I got closer, I could see the movements of monsters.
It’s been a long time since I came across monsters. There are not only lower-order monsters here, but higher-order ones as well.
