- Chapter 331 - 331: Friends Talk, Enemies... Bang?

Kyle wasn’t surprised when he heard this because their relationship had taken a turn for the worse, and there was one common factor.
Kyle blamed himself because if he had just said no when she asked him to drop her off, none of this would have happened.
Kyle knew they would have fought about something else, but at least he wouldn’t directly be involved in this drama.
Kyle did his best to comfort Jones, but there was something broken in him that he instinctively knew he was too far gone.
Aiysha had lost the respect she had for him, and there was no coming back from that.
Kyle looked over his shoulder and noticed there was nothing he could do right now.
This marriage might be past the point of no return because Jones had done everything he could do.
But then it hit him—there was no doubt Aiysha was attracted to him; this much was established, but this didn’t mean she would act on that attraction.
“Jones, I think you need to give her some space. Let her decompress and remember why she is doing this to begin with,” Kyle advised him, because pushing himself on her would only push her away.
“I don’t know what to do, man! I have tried my best!” Jones was getting desperate, and Kyle wondered what love was.
This couldn’t be it, or they wouldn’t be giving up on each other.
“Sometimes your best isn’t enough, and this is what you need to accept. You betrayed her first, Jones,” Kyle was giving him a reality check because he was surprised she even stayed with him in the first place.
Betrayal was usually the cue to end any relationship, so he doubted she was going to leave this time, especially with their daughter in the picture.
But Kyle meant it when he said she needed time to herself to rediscover what she wanted.
Kyle found it funny he was basically in the middle of an underground struggle for power, but this was what he had to deal with.
It was a nice change of pace from all of that violence and blood; it reminded him that there was normalcy in his life.
“Thank you a lot for everything you have done for me and my family, Kyle,” Jones showed his appreciation.
Kyle had shown up for him more times than he could remember and didn’t need to have to, but Kyle was forever indebted to Jones because he wouldn’t have made it this far without his help.
If he threw him out on the street, Kyle would have taken his life a lot sooner, and the condition for his rebate system would never have been met.
It was funny how one moment could ultimately shape one’s life—just a single moment.
“I should be the one thanking you. I have been in a bad place for as long as I remember, and you always sacrificed to make sure I didn’t give up,” Kyle confessed.
“I have never told anyone this, but Jones, I would have taken my life a lot sooner if you weren’t here,” Kyle confessed, but Jones picked up on the usage of his words.
“What do you mean you would have done it a lot sooner? Does that mean…” Jones stopped himself from uttering the complete sentence.
Kyle paused for a second, staring right at him before a smile creased his face.
“Of course not!” Kyle blurted out, and Jones was visibly relieved to hear this.
“You had me for a second there,” Jones admitted.
Kyle had offered earlier to help them with their marriage; he wanted to try his hand at being their counsellor.
However, the situation in his life right now didn’t allow for it, and before the conversation could go on further,
the doorknob to his apartment jiggled. Someone was trying to gain entry, but Kyle knew there was only one person this could be.
“Are you living with someone?” Jones questioned, and Kyle nodded to confirm this.
He quickly walked to the door but made sure not to make any noise. Jones watched Kyle quietly as he had no idea what he was planning.
Kyle placed a finger above his lips to signal for Jones not to make a sound.
The door opened, and Kyle immediately jerked forward, being the first thing she saw. But instead of Ella freaking out—
“Ahhh!” Ella screamed out of fear before she punched him right in the face on reflex, and it was a perfect hit. Kyle instantly fell to the ground, clutching his face.
“Y-You idiot! Why would you do that!?” Ella questioned, crouching to make sure he was okay.
“You beast! Why was your first instinct violence?” Kyle fired back right away.
Jones was surprised to see this side of Kyle—the way he walked to the door with purpose and such a serious face.
Jones thought someone might be breaking in, but seeing Kyle being normal brought a smile to his face.
“You really did try to end it all, didn’t you?” Jones thought to himself.
He could tell by the eyebags that had permanently formed beneath his eyes that his man was having sleepless nights, but this never crossed his mind.
He watched Kyle and Ella argue like a married couple, and this reminded him of him and Aiysha during the beginning of their marriage, even though she wasn’t nearly as violent as this redhead.
Because Ella kept on hitting him after discovering he was alright enough to take a few more punches, with Kyle barely defending himself.
The truth was, Kyle could have easily avoided the punch, even if it was a surprise attack, but he allowed it to hit intentionally to break the long-standing tension between them.
Kyle understood his situation and knew he had to fix things with her because with the way things were going, Ella could be dragged into this even if he had to make an exception for her.
But Kyle also knew if she moved in with the others, she could potentially put them in danger.
He had to make a decision and fast.
