I Only Summon Villainesses - Chapter 361: I Will Protect You

As breakfast continued, one of the elders spoke boldly, even after the declaration White Feather had made.
“Matriarch, with all due respect… the Black Snow Company — yes, recently I have heard things about them — but compared to the disposable resources in our hands, they’re mere children. Sect Matriarch, trust us greater families. Let us take this matter into our own hands and eradicate the Crystal Deep Clan along with the Water Moon Clan!”
Another elder added to what the old man with black and white beards had said. The one who spoke looked quite young, although he had grey hair.
“Matriarch, I agree with Elder Black River… these things are not something we need outsiders for. We can take this matter into our own hands if you let us act freely.”
White Feather did not say anything while they spoke. And Shuǐyáo, who had been glaring at me, seemed to have found another target for her glare. It was the elders she was glaring at now.
“If you trust me with the Thousand Waves Artifact, I will undoubtedly bring home victory.”
The person who spoke now got on my nerves. Not because he was anything special, but because he was not deserving of being here. By all the qualities required for someone to be an elder, he was undeserving of such a place.
’And what the hell is that handsome face? I thought we were on an eastern-themed continent. Why does he look so freaking Western?’
He had blonde hair and blue eyes. His hair was properly groomed, with only one strand falling in front of his face. His eyes were striking and carried a radiant light. He looked like a damn protagonist. Even Kai was greatly lacking when placed beside this guy.
And the disturbing thing was that, before now, I hadn’t noticed his presence. With how handsome he was, one would expect him to always stand out. But this damn bastard didn’t stand out at all, and there was something about that which unsettled me.
’Suddenly I’m here thinking about that pretty boy templar again. Gosh, handsome people disgust me the most. Very annoying faces!’
The man with black and white hair looked at him.
“Elder Fairywind, that’s very ambitious of you. Is your family looking to take custody of the Thousand Wave Artifact because of its uniqueness?”
The blonde-haired, blue-eyed elder looked at the black-and-white-haired elder and said with a smile in his eyes,
“Elder Black River, what is this about custody? Aren’t we here to find a solution for the clan’s debt and the trouble we’re in?”
“Doesn’t seem so to me.”
It wasn’t Elder Black River who responded, and strangely, everyone turned to look at me. I was enjoying my meal while listening to their conversation. It was only when I wondered why they were staring that I realized I might have belatedly blurted something out.
“Ah…”
Even White Feather was looking at me.
“Sir Cade, what do you think? Should we let the clan elders deal with this?”
The elders around the table quickly spoke in revulsion, but their voices mingled together and collapsed into a riot of noise.
However, the Matriarch slapped her hand on the table.
The hall resounded thunderously, and the table split in half, all the plates of food sinking between the broken pieces. I managed to grab a plate of roasted fish before it slipped away.
Everyone else was dazed. The elders stared down at the torn table. Even Shuǐyáo, who stood behind White Feather, looked surprised, and White Feather herself stared at the table with wide eyes. It seemed I was the only one who was not surprised.
I mean, there was no reason to be. She had become my summon and was receiving essence from me. This meant she had more than enough to spare. And this was merely the strength she had once possessed at her peak—she had simply returned to that point.
Slowly, from the head seat where she sat staring at the palm that had just slammed the long table and torn it in half, she turned to me with a frozen look of surprise in her eyes.
I gave her a smile in return.
Decorum returned to the hall with that small gesture. White Feather shrugged lightly and stood up.
“Well, I guess breakfast will be ending early today. I will discuss the plan going forward with the Black Snow Company and send the details to your houses. In the meantime, you don’t need to journey all the way here for breakfast meetings. Let’s stick with the once-weekly clan meetings. There, I’ll run the brief of everything. Go home, rest, and enjoy yourselves like you lot always have. I don’t want to be bothered.”
She then placed her eyes on me.
“Sir Cade… if you may?”
I was still sitting and finishing the last bit of the delicious fish, but I froze and quickly bowed my head politely. The next moment, I stepped out with White Feather.
The elders in the hall were dumbstruck. They kept staring at the torn table. They must have known of their Matriarch’s condition to a large extent, even if they didn’t know everything about it. They must have learned of her growing weakness. That was the only reasonable explanation for the surprise written across their faces.
Either way, White Feather, Shuǐyáo, and I stepped out while Levi, Tristan, and the others remained inside, searching for the right moment to escape as well. After all, it was only me that White Feather had called.
As we stepped out of the dining hall, White Feather kept smiling. Her face was as red as tomatoes, and she kept her gaze down, only stealing glances at me whenever I looked away, either at the sky or at the trees surrounding us.
“So… how does it feel to be born anew?”
Her smile remained even as she paused to answer me, looking at her hands. Behind her, Shuǐyáo was glaring at me, and I didn’t care in the slightest.
White Feather looked at the hand she had used to break the table and said,
“I can’t help but wonder… how did you do it? How is it even possible? How was I made into your summon?”
I smiled like a calm elder, placing my hands behind my back and letting the valiant rays of the sun illuminate one side of my face.
“Hmm… well, that’s my secret. But by now you know I am not an ordinary summoner, and you’re not my first summon.”
White Feather’s eyes widened.
“What?”
I nodded with a smile and raised three fingers.
“You’re the third one. In time, I will introduce you to the other two.”
I halted my steps and finally looked at her.
“Like the promise I made, you belong to me now. And because you belong to me, I will protect you.”
I held her shoulders warmly, pulled her closer, and gave her a kiss. Meanwhile, the glarer behind us just couldn’t stop sending death glares.
I finally pulled away from the kiss, leaving White Feather with a very naughty expression, as though she wanted me to take her right here in the yard of her main clan hall.
I held her cheek, lifting her chin slightly as I said,
“Don’t worry. I’ll be back in time, but I have to settle your business first.”
I released her chin and stepped away while she continued looking at me with a face reddened with lust. Behind her, her attendant glared viciously.
I suddenly remembered something and halted to ask,
“Ah right, that reminds me… what is the Thousand Wave Artifact?”
She responded, the lustful expression still staining her face.
“My daughter… that’s my daughter.”
I paused for a moment.
’Oh wow… which would mean what that blonde guy inside was asking for was to become the husband of her daughter?’
Suddenly I was getting a little pissed.
’I’d rather go to hell than let you have her!’
I smiled at White Feather and bade her farewell before meeting Tristan and the others at the entrance of the clan.
