Lord of Prayer - Chapter 259 - 186: Charles Appears

Chapter 259: Chapter 186: Charles Appears
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the silent corridor. Zhou Chen was only two corners away from the underground base’s exit.
Suddenly, he skidded to a halt.
A cursor had just appeared on the map of the base inside his mind.
Zhou Chen quickly checked the new cursor’s position. One was at the Star Association, the other at the Financial Mansion. Neither of those had moved. By a simple process of elimination, the owner of the cursor inside the base was obvious—Professor Charles!
After a moment’s hesitation, Zhou Chen turned and ran toward the cursor’s location.
He knew it was risky, but he had no other choice. Only by finding Professor Charles could he figure out what the Eternal Life Machine was, understand the reason for his transmigration, and find a way back.
It was a rare opportunity. If he missed it, there was no telling if he’d ever get another chance.
’Professor Charles seems to have undergone some kind of unknown Transformation because of the Eternal Life Machine. He gained a “Mysterious Power” and can use Instant Teleportation all over Hong City. But why would he suddenly appear here without any warning?’
’It doesn’t feel like a random coincidence…’
’Could it be because of the battle between the Blood Royal Prince and the Puppet Master…?’
Zhou Chen’s thoughts raced. As he advanced, the oppressive force around him grew stronger. It felt as if an invisible current flowed through the air, with resistance pressing in from all sides, draining a massive amount of his Physical Strength with every step.
This was the oppressive aura of a High Tier being.
The battle between the Blood Royal Prince and the Kui Puppet Master had reached a fever pitch. Even from a great distance, he could feel the terrifying Essence Fluctuation. The entire underground base seemed to groan and scream under the brutal abuse, trembling ceaselessly as if it could collapse at any moment.
“The Absolute Boundary Curtain has been shut down!”
In the middle of the battlefield, a Blood Count who had lost half an arm roared, having sensed the disappearance of the base’s Barrier. This was undoubtedly bad news. They would be completely exposed to the Star Association’s detection devices, as if they were stark naked!
What the Blood Counts present found even more unbelievable was that the enemy had managed to shut down the Absolute Boundary Curtain in such a short time. Even they would have needed a while to shatter the Barrier Array with brute force.
Unless the enemy was a highly skilled Alchemist. But the Barrier Array had been meticulously crafted by a Blood Race Alchemist using secret runes and Spells passed down through generations. It would be incredibly difficult for any Alchemist who hadn’t studied them to crack it…
But there was no time for them to dwell on it now.
“Prince, we have to go!” a Blood Count shouted, his words transforming into tangible sound waves that spread out as a warning.
In less than ten minutes, Ascenders from the Star Association would have this place completely surrounded and sealed off!
The Blood Royal Prince, Lucius, frowned deeply. On one hand, there was the urgency from the deactivated Barrier; on the other, a faint sense of crisis was beginning to form in his premonition…
He swatted the bronze-skinned brute away with one claw, then snatched an incoming bolt of lightning from the air and crushed it. With a mere thought, he cast “Twist,” distorting the brute’s arm into a bizarre shape as it lunged forward once more. Then, he opened his mouth and let out a piercing shriek.
The sonic wave spread like a tsunami. Blood poured from the bronze-skinned brute’s seven orifices, and its skin, as hard as any alloy, cracked all over. In an instant, it was drenched in its own blood.
The sound wave indiscriminately pierced the ears of everyone nearby. Hiding in the distance and controlling his puppets, the Puppet Master’s mind buzzed, and blood immediately trickled from his mouth and nose. Fighting back the mental chaos, he tossed a golden rune into the air and shouted hoarsely:
“Sun!”
The golden rune instantly transformed into a brilliant, scorching, and majestic sun, erupting in a dazzling radiance. Its sacred yet tyrannical light rained down, scattering into every corner of the hall.
It was as if a sun had descended. The corona-like light instantly ignited everything. Even Count Level Blood Race members couldn’t withstand such “real” sunlight, and they shrieked in agony, rolling and struggling in the searing flames.
“Ahhh…”
A scream rang out. A Blood Count, who had been besieged by two Crimson Sect Stewards and a large number of Cultists, was severely wounded and thrown under the “Sun.” Exposed directly to the sacred light, his entire body was ignited in the blink of an eye and burned to cinders.
The first Blood Count had fallen.
Under the light of the “Sun,” the scales of victory tipped. The Blood Race lost all advantage. The once-lofty Counts could only flee in panic like cornered rats, scrambling to find cover from the light.
The Blood Royal Prince, Lucius, was also unable to avoid the damage from the “Sun Rune.” His body spontaneously combusted, turning him into a raging human torch.
What was warm sunlight to ordinary creatures was the deadliest poison to them!
The Puppet Master seized the opportunity, manipulating his Puppet Threads to wrap tightly around the Blood Royal Prince, Lucius. Countless Puppet Threads pierced flesh, penetrated blood vessels, coiled around bone, and even delved into his very spirit… He was going to turn Lucius into one of his puppets!
But in the next second, the Puppet Master let out a muffled grunt. It felt as if a dagger had been stabbed into his head and was being brutally twisted, a sharp pain erupting from the depths of his Soul that threw all his thoughts into disarray.
Lucius had used the Puppet Threads as a medium to launch a powerful Spiritual Attack along their lengths. The blow was strong enough to shatter the consciousness of an ordinary Tier Three Ascender, reducing them to a mindless imbecile. The Puppet Master, however, was clearly no ordinary Ascender. His Spiritual Power was immense, and his consciousness remained intact.
At that moment, the Puppet Master flung his cloak aside, revealing a brass box hanging from his waist. The box opened automatically, and the Nun Puppet he had put away earlier reappeared.
