MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1778: Fighting a Rank 7 (3)

‘[Vina’s Purgatory].’
Keeping one of his hands on the flintlock’s trigger, Ataraxia had a calm expression on his face as he cast one of the spells he had obtained from [Archives of the Grand Arcane].
Whoosh!
Pouring great amounts of True Arcana into the spell, a large swath of dark vines soon manifested into existence, only for it to then head straight in the direction of the Elder Wyvern.
Grrrrooooaaarrrr!!!
Seeing that the two intruders had chosen to stay where they were rather than leave the area out of fear, the Elder Wyvern couldn’t help but let out yet another roar as it directed more strength towards its legs.
Though the large swath of vines heading its way seemed like it would pose a problem towards achieving its goal, it was confident that the vines would probably fail to achieve its purpose the moment it made contact.
After all, there’s no way vines would be able to restrict a Rank 7 being like its proud self, right?
Fwoosh!
Graaaahhh!!!
Just as the Elder Wyvern thought it could reach Valyr and Ataraxia unimpeded, the vines that it ignored earlier began to wrap around its legs the moment it made contact, only to then constrict a moment later.
Thud!
Although it put greater force on its legs the moment it knew it was bound by the vines, the Elder Wyvern did not expect the dark vines to be incredibly sturdy.
Not only that, but it also felt the vines inject some sort of fluid into its legs soon after, making it feel as if it had plunged into the deepest depths of a volcano without taking a breath of fresh air.
Because of that, it was left with no choice but to fall to the ground.
Grrroooaaarrrr!!!
Briefly gazing in the direction of the two intruders, the Elder Wyvern let out a roar filled with annoyance and anger as it tried its best to suppress the uncomfortable feeling it got from the vines.
After that, it began to conjure flames to remove the vines wrapping its legs, knowing that this problem would only end if all of the vines disappeared.
Of course, not wanting to be stuck in a vulnerable position for too long, it used as much energy as it possibly could during the process, prompting it to inwardly let out a sigh of relief after seeing that the flames were effective on the flames.
Though, just as it had begun to free itself from the combination of being bound and being hit with a ton of debuffs, Ataraxia went ahead and cast the other spell he had saved for the Elder Wyvern.
‘[Agalith’s Demoralization].’
Swoosh!
Before the Elder Wyvern could celebrate the freedom it had begun to regain, it could only watch as a sky blue barrier surrounded it all of a sudden, which then began to gradually shrink as it wrapped around the Elder Wyvern’s body.
Continuing to maintain vigilance every step of the way, it soon felt the barrier dig into its skin, releasing bits of energy here and there that made the uncomfortable feeling it felt from the vines even worse.
Finally realizing what the two intruders were trying to do, the Elder Wyvern went ahead and mobilized its energy once more as it conjured a layer of protection around every inch of its body.
However, even after it had conjured the layer of protection, it noticed that some bits of energy from the intruder’s barrier still got into its skin here and there.
At the very least, it wasn’t as bad as it was just a few seconds earlier.
Grrrroooooo…
Feeling like it had finally regained control over the entire situation in some way, the Elder Wyvern returned its attention back to the two beings, growling at them as it continued to free itself from its current predicament.
‘That… turned out way better than I thought it would.’
Seeing as how the effects of both spells still lingered on the Elder Wyvern, Ataraxia’s eyes slightly widened in surprise as he sent his other self a message.
‘Yeah…’ Valyr replied, faintly nodding in agreement. ‘With the Elder Wyvern being a Myth-level being, I thought those spells would only inconvenience it at most.’
‘Not once did I think it’d be forced to the ground like that.’
‘I wonder why that’s the case?’ asked Ataraxia, glancing at his free hand for a bit as a number of possible answers began to pop up in his mind.
Though, before he could give any of them a bit more thought, the young man swiftly returned his attention to the matter at hand.
‘Let’s get this over with.’
Letting out a low exhale to calm down his nerves, Ataraxia returned his other hand back to the flintlock, stabilizing it as he kept an eye on the Elder Wyvern’s movements.
Continuing to track the Elder Wyvern with the flintlock, the young man eventually found his chance the moment the Elder Wyvern was close to freeing itself from the effects of [Vina’s Purgatory].
Seeing its most vulnerable spot exposed out in the open, the young man did not hesitate to take advantage of it as he activated his strongest buff.
‘[Descent of the Arcane Supreme].’
‘I sacrifice the [Intent of Tranquil Winds].’
Swoosh!
Feeling his current levels of strength double in potency all of a sudden, it took Ataraxia a few seconds to regain control over it as he used up almost all of his willpower in the process.
Though, just as he thought he could finally kill the Elder Wyvern without worries, the infusion of power from the temporary concept upgrade soon came after, pushing him incredibly close to becoming unconscious.
“Kuh…”
Yet, he forced himself to stay awake.
“Huu…”
Letting out another exhale to compose himself, the young man concentrated all of his attention towards the Elder Wyvern once more, inwardly sighing in relief after seeing its most vulnerable spot still exposed.
Not wanting to waste the opportunity he’d given himself, he finally pulled the flintlock’s trigger as he activated its one and only offensive skill.
‘[The First Gunslinger’s Rage].’
Bang!
Watching the bullet form a trail of dazzling blue light as it whizzed through the air, the young man held his breath as he waited to see the result of his preparations.
‘Surely this would be enough to at least push the Elder Wyvern near death, right?’
As this question and similar doubts began to appear in Ataraxia’s mind, the bullet finally made contact with the Elder Wyvern, turning what was once its reverse scale into fragments that resembled rubble more than actual wyvern scales.
However, it didn’t stop there.
Grrrrooaaarrrr!!!
After turning its most vulnerable spot into unrecognizable pulp, the bullet’s force continued to wreak havoc throughout the Elder Wyvern’s body, bursting out with great energy as it turned its insides into mush.
Eventually, the damage dealt by the bullet was too much for the Elder Wyvern to bear, prompting it to let out one last roar of defiance before it finally fell to the ground, dead.
At the same time, the damage Ataraxia’s shot dealt to the Elder Wyvern had finally appeared before the duo.
‘-55,593,030!!!!’
‘…’
‘That’s…’
‘…huh?’
