- Chapter 379 - 246: Golden Five-Clawed Dragon Shorts (Part 2)

“I got it!”
Like a cheerful little rabbit, Yaoyao didn’t even stop to put on her shoes. She nimbly dodged behind the sofa, and with lightning-fast reflexes, slammed the button on the remote. The channel switched back to the romance anime they were just watching—the heroine, grocery basket in hand, stood at a street corner at sunset, looking back at the dazed male lead.
“I really don’t want to admit it… but loving you is my most wonderfully hopeless mistake~”
Chen Yuan’s expression froze the moment he heard the sappy anime dialogue.
“Na~ Na-na-na~” Yaoyao mimicked. “Little Master, loving you is my most wonderfully hopeless mistake.” She formed a finger heart, her lips parting as she aimed the words directly at Chen Yuan.
“Ugh!”
“Na~”
“Are you a sonar or something? Just act normal, I’m begging you.”
But Yaoyao had no intention of letting him off the hook. The more embarrassed he looked, the funnier she found it. She backed away, and with the bleak wind and cold rain as her backdrop, a smile she could barely contain tugged at her lips. She slowly raised one hand to cover her eye.
In an instant, Yaoyao wiped the smile from her face. Her gaze turned profound, exuding a cold, dark indifference.
Her entire demeanor shifted in a flash.
“O, foolish young master. You have no idea what power truly is.”
“Now, I shall let you witness Yaoyao’s true identity.”
Yaoyao took a deep breath.
“Burst, reality! Shatter, spirit! Vanish from this world! The Tyrant’s Eye is now revealed!”
As she chanted the dramatic lines, she slowly moved her hand away, revealing an eye filled with steely resolve.
At that exact moment, a gale raged outside, accompanied by a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder. It was as if roiling dark clouds had descended upon the entire city, threatening to crush the world beneath them.
“What in the…” A wave of goosebumps washed over Chen Yuan. Not from fear, but from the sheer cringe. ’She’s a total chuunibyou,’ he thought.
Seeing his jaw practically on the floor, Yaoyao clutched her stomach and burst out laughing.
She wasn’t concerned about saving face and didn’t think she was being embarrassing, nor was she afraid Chen Yuan would tease her about it later. Everyone has thoughts they’d rather not admit—childish or dark—and while some people hide them for fear of judgment, others couldn’t care less. They have the courage to be their true, authentic selves.
Yaoyao might have had plenty of minor personality flaws, but she was exceptionally good at being true to herself. What she thought was what she did; the word “hypocrisy” was not in her vocabulary.
She liked Chen Yuan, so she took the initiative. She wanted him all to herself, so she resorted to all sorts of playful schemes.
To be loved by someone like her… Chen Yuan was, without a doubt, a lucky guy. Yaoyao was a girl who was as adorable as she was genuine.
The two of them continued to bicker and horse around, arguing endlessly over which channel to watch. By the time Jiangg Ning finished her shower and was ready to come out, they were still at it. She poked her head out to peek into the brightly lit living room.
“Yaoyao…”
“What is it, sis?”
Yaoyao’s voice was muffled. She was pinned to the sofa, her arms flailing in futile resistance as she plotted how to make a clever escape and land a decisive blow on her ’Little Master’.
“Could you find me some of Chen’s clothes? I… I don’t want to put my own back on.”
“Huh?” Hearing this, Chen Yuan’s head shot up. He instinctively glanced toward the entryway.
’Does that mean Ningning, peeking out from the doorway right now, isn’t wearing anything?!’
HISS—
The thought made Chen Yuan swallow hard, and his cheeks instantly began to burn. The suggestive atmosphere of the rainy night already made it easy for one’s mind to wander. Any odd phrase could trigger boundless fantasies, to say nothing of the prospect of seeing Ningning fresh from her bath…
He felt a rush of heat surge through him.
“I’ll go find some,” Yaoyao said, patting a dazed Chen Yuan to get him off her. The fight was on hold for now. “Stop staring. Come with me and help find some clothes. You’re not going to make my sister come out naked, are you?”
“O-Okay.”
He fought the urge to look back with every step he took. His head spinning, he followed her to the bedroom. As their figures vanished through the doorway, Jiangg Ning retreated back into the bathroom.
Her own heart was pounding in her chest. She had been showering while her little sister was out in the living room with the boy she liked. The situation was so absurd it was hard to fathom, and she was already trying her best to remain composed.
When she first went in to shower, Jiangg Ning had neatly folded her clothes, wondering if she should put them back on afterward.
It would only be for a few hours; perhaps the rain would stop soon. But she hated the idea of putting dirty clothes back on after taking them off. It felt disgusting, and just the thought of it gave her goosebumps. She was a bit of a mysophobe.
But even though she had tried to mentally prepare herself, when she finished her shower and picked up the clothes, she agonized over it for several minutes before finally giving up.
In the end, she decided to wear Chen Yuan’s clothes. As a stopgap measure, it was a much more comforting thought.
Jiangg Ning stood in the bathroom wrapped in a gray bath towel. As the steam on the mirror gradually dissipated, it revealed her stunningly beautiful collarbones and shoulders. She tilted her head, turning to the side to admire her reflection with interest.
Very good.
She had maintained her figure well, and was even a bit slimmer than when she’d first arrived in Lanjing. Her weight had barely changed in the past two or three years, and her form seemed even more graceful than before.
’If I keep this up, I’ll still be beautiful even when I’m older, right? I won’t get old so easily. The wrinkles won’t appear, my skin won’t sag, this body won’t decay from youthful and vibrant to dull and lifeless, right? Even in a few more years, I’ll still be a good match for Chen… I should be, right?’
Jiangg Ning thought cautiously, the worry surfacing out of nowhere.
She was currently in the prime of her life, the most beautiful stage of a woman’s life, like a flower in full, brilliant bloom. It was irrational to worry about the future.
But she couldn’t help it. When she turned thirty, Chen Yuan would have only just started his career. Even if they married the day he graduated from college, they would only have been married for two years by the time she was thirty.
Would Chen Yuan’s family accept her then? Accept their son marrying her, accept him getting married right after graduation? Just the thought of it felt daunting.
Time was cruel, relentlessly pushing people toward old age. A pity, then, that she had been born long before he was. She had simply arrived in this world a little too early.
’If only our ages were a perfect match… I wouldn’t ask for anything more.’
Her age only made the idea taking root in her heart grow firmer. Some things simply couldn’t wait.
Just as she was lost in thought, the sound of footsteps echoed from the living room, followed by her sister’s voice.
“I’ll take it to her. You stay here, and don’t be a pervert! Boys and girls need to keep their distance. Since you like me, you need to maintain a proper distance from my sister. Do you hear me, Little Master…? I’m talking to you.”
“I know, I wasn’t planning on peeping on Ningning getting out of the shower or anything. It’s these pants I’m worried about.”
“What’s wrong with these pants? They seem fine.”
“There are so many pairs of loose pants that would’ve worked. Why did you have to dig these out of the closet… I mean, maybe we should find another pair.”
From the sound of his voice, Chen Yuan was getting anxious. Jiangg Ning couldn’t help but grow curious. ’Yaoyao didn’t pick out something totally bizarre for me, did she?’
’Then again, Chen shouldn’t have any clothes that are *too* weird… but who knows? It seems like a lot of guys have… things. Stockings, bodysuits, even weirder stuff, usually stuffed in the very back of the closet, only to be taken out in the dead of night.’
The association immediately made Jiangg Ning antsy.
“These. They’re breathable and soft, and the texture is nice. I don’t even want to talk about the material your other clothes are made of. It’s so stiff.”
“Really? I think they’re pretty comfortable.”
Their voices drew nearer. Yaoyao knocked on the bathroom door—KNOCK KNOCK—not forgetting to turn and shoot a warning glare at Chen Yuan, signaling him to stay put.
Jiangg Ning opened the door, and Yaoyao quickly slipped inside.
“Sis, wear this shirt, and these pants—”
“What are these?”
Jiangg Ning stared, dumbfounded, at the pair of ridiculously baggy, bright yellow shorts in her sister’s hands. The fabric looked silky smooth, but why was there a five-clawed golden dragon embroidered on them? And a goofy-looking panda head…
“Little Master said his dormmates all bought these together when they first moved in. He’s never worn them. They’re called ’The Emperor’s Beach Shorts.’ You don’t have any underwear, right… so you won’t flash anyone in these. Wanna try them on?”
“This… will it really be okay?” Jiangg Ning looked troubled, her lips twitching as she reluctantly took the dragon-themed shorts.
…
Two minutes later, she walked out, holding her sister’s hand with her head down, her face blushing.
Chen Yuan turned to look.
The beach shorts were indeed huge, reaching below her knees and billowing coolly with air. As she walked, the hems swayed, offering faint glimpses of her pale white thighs.
Her long legs were naturally eye-catching, and under the bright lights, the dragon shorts looked even more majestic!
’But… something’s a little off, isn’t it?’
Chen Yuan frowned, having suddenly noticed something he couldn’t quite figure out.
Why didn’t Ningning have a single hair on her legs? And now that he thought about it, it seemed Yaoyao didn’t, either.
