Chapter 199: Chapter 132: Arrival from Yuan Capital, a Worshipped God?
’It seems I’ve hit a dead end. Recreating a body like Meng Qi’s would take at least three years, and I don’t have three years to waste.’
“If it weren’t for this Nether Fog, it wouldn’t be so damn complicated!” he said in frustration.
……
Deep within the Judicial Court stood a colossal, cylindrical metal structure. Its surface was coated in a matte, anti-corrosion layer, and its body was lined with vertical cooling fins.
Three rings of antenna arrays encircled its midsection. The base was constructed from interlocking hexagonal armor plates, while the top unfurled into massive, symbol-etched blades.
Now, the blades were slowly retracting. Chong Jingtian emerged from within, his expression grim.
“What’s the word?” Jiang Shu Mo, who had been waiting outside, rushed over immediately.
Chong Jingtian frowned. “Yu Xingyao says they’re also investigating the Deceitful God Sect and have discovered something.”
“Investigating the Deceitful God Sect? And it led them to us in Ying Feng?” Jiang Shu Mo scoffed. “What did they find?”
“He said it’s too complicated to explain in a few words. Yuan Capital is sending someone to explain in person,” Chong Jingtian said. “They’ll come under the pretext of a ’friendly exchange’ to avoid arousing suspicion from the other two cities.”
“They’re sending people, and they have to hide it from the other two cities?” Jiang Shu Mo was surprised and suspicious. “The last time they visited was three years ago. They’re not planning some kind of underhanded trick, are they?”
“While Xia Hanshi did spot people from Yuan Capital, they also genuinely helped us. It’s hard to say,” Chong Jingtian said, uncertain. “I need to notify the Elder Council about this.”
Speaking of Xia Hanshi, Jiang Shu Mo muttered, “Old Xia really has a nose for trouble. The place he picked was actually a problem spot. No wonder he was able to sniff out something wrong with Meng Qi.”
Upon hearing this, Chong Jingtian asked, “What did you find on Meng Qi’s body?”
“I was just about to report to you.” Jiang Shu Mo’s expression grew grim as he spoke. “Initially, we followed standard procedures for the analysis and found nothing. His tissue structure showed some deviation due to his Class, but there was no link to any Deceitful God.”
“But then, on a whim, I compared his tissue structure to Zhu Xuan’s. They were nearly identical.”
Chong Jingtian’s expression changed. ’Tissue structure… a result of the physical changes brought on by the various Classes one takes on.’
Furthermore, differences in Class strength and the number of stacked advanced Classes lead to all sorts of variations.
Normally, this data is almost useless, as it’s constantly changing based on one’s Class development progress.
But this time was different. The complex tissue structures of Meng Qi and Zhu Xuan were somehow identical.
This meant that the Classes they’d taken were identical. Not only that, but the time they’d taken them and even their completion progress for the Class requirements were also exactly the same.
But Meng Qi’s Class history is well-documented. They couldn’t possibly be the same.
“So Xia Hanshi’s gut feeling was right. There really is a problem.” Chong Jingtian’s expression was grim. “To think a Believer of the Faceless Ghost could be so powerful… And we were completely unable to detect it.”
This means that not much time had passed since Meng Qi “devoured” Zhu Xuan; his Class development hadn’t progressed. Otherwise, his tissue structure would have already changed.
It also meant they couldn’t use this method to find another “Meng Qi.”
“I believe Meng Qi was an isolated case,” Jiang Shu Mo countered. “Since Meng Qi was compromised, then what Teng Liang said was almost certainly true. He did commit suicide… or rather, he did it to preserve his body…”
“This isn’t our first run-in with the Faceless Ghost. There’s no way they could pull something like this off so easily.”
Chong Jingtian understood the logic, but he remained deeply concerned. He looked up at the ceiling. ’Why would those Deceitful Gods turn their attention to this place?’
’Black Tuo’s Divine Blood… what are they really after?’
The recent string of events gave Chong Jingtian the feeling that a storm was brewing.
“If things get any worse, we should request reinforcements,” Jiang Shu Mo suggested hesitantly.
Chong Jingtian’s expression flickered, but he shook his head. “Let’s wait and see.”

“PHEW…” Su Chen let out a long breath as he stepped out of the Gravity Chamber. He glanced at the single-digit percentages on his panel and couldn’t help but shake his head.
’So much has been happening lately, I haven’t had much time to focus on developing my Classes.’
After checking the time, he straightened himself up and headed out to the Judicial Court’s reception area.
“…I’m not leaving! And where is that old bastard Chong Jingtian? He wouldn’t let me leave when I wanted to, and now that he’s telling me to go, I refuse!”
Su Chen heard the commotion before he even entered the hall. Sang Hanhai was shouting, jabbing a finger at a Judge. “Get that old bastard out here! He can send me off with the proper respect and give me a damn explanation!”
“Elder Sang, Elder Sang…” Su Chen called out as he walked in.
“Ah, it’s you, kid.” Sang Hanhai reined in his anger and sneered. “Chong Jingtian sent you, didn’t he? That old turtle knows how to hide in his shell.”
“The Chief asked me to apologize for him,” Su Chen said with a helpless sigh. “He’s been completely swamped with everything that’s been going on lately and really can’t get away.”
“’Can’t get away, or just too cowardly to show his face?’” Sang Hanhai snapped. “’I came here out of the goodness of my heart to help you people with your Class initiations, and what do I get? Trapped here for more than half a month! People on the outside probably think I’ve died in the Judicial Court!’”
“Right, right, right…” Su Chen quickly agreed. Seeing him like this, Sang Hanhai toned down his anger. He waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t waste your breath. I’m not leaving until he shows up.”
Su Chen changed the subject tactfully. “I actually came to ask, when is the Holy Word Stone expected to arrive?”
“The Holy Word Stone…” Sang Hanhai’s expression shifted slightly. He frowned. “Judging by the time, it should be here soon.”
He was in a bit of a bind. He was still waiting to test that strange characteristic of Su Chen’s, but he couldn’t just stay here forever.
“Sly brat!” Sang Hanhai pointed at Su Chen. “Chong Jingtian stays hidden, but you’re thoughtful enough to come smooth things over for him.”
Su Chen sighed in resignation and lowered his voice. “Something major happened in one of the Subordinate Cities. The closed-door meetings haven’t stopped for days, I’m not kidding.”
Sang Hanhai frowned. It wasn’t that he was dead set on chewing out Chong Jingtian; he was just thoroughly annoyed.
“Fine. For your sake, kid.” Sang Hanhai shot him a look and decided to leave.
“Let me see you out…” Su Chen said, following after him.
In truth, the staff from the Translation Department had already packed most of their things. Su Chen figured that even without his intervention, Old Sang would have left after a few more days of complaining.
“I heard that Yuan Capital actually worships a Divine Spirit.”
Su Chen’s question was abrupt. Sang Hanhai gave him a surprised look. “You know about that already?”
“Know what?” Su Chen asked, taken aback.
“That Yuan Capital is sending people over,” Sang Hanhai said, eyeing him suspiciously. “If you didn’t know, why the sudden interest in Yuan Capital?”
’Yuan Capital is sending people?’ Su Chen hadn’t expected that at all. He couldn’t help but ask, “Why so sudden?”
“Who knows? I heard it’s quite a large delegation. There will probably be another round of subtle power plays between all the different factions.”
Sang Hanhai didn’t press Su Chen for an answer. He just continued, reminiscing, “The last time they came, your Judicial Court’s Core Seeds fought a few matches against their Church Court’s Saints. Both sides won some and lost some.”
“I hear they’ve nurtured a new ’Disciple.’ I wonder if he’ll be coming this time.”
Su Chen wasn’t concerned about that. He asked again, “Will any of them be [Spiritualist] Class holders?”
“Still fixated on that, are you?” Sang Hanhai asked with a surprised laugh. “I have no idea. Maybe there will be, maybe not.”
“Oh, right. What was it you asked before? About the Divine Spirit they worship?” Sang Hanhai mused. “I believe it’s called the Great Venerable Red Thunder.”
’Great Venerable Red Thunder…’ Su Chen’s heart skipped a beat. ’That sounds so similar to the Great Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator. Do they really worship that Class?’
“But it’s just a figurehead to rally support,” Sang Hanhai explained. “It’s not like a Deceitful God; it doesn’t grant them any powers.”
“Worship without any reward?” Su Chen was confused. ’This world isn’t like my past life. Real, world-shattering power exists here. Worshipping a Divine Spirit that gives you nothing is less useful than believing in yourself.’
Sang Hanhai shook his head. “Perhaps there are benefits we aren’t aware of.”
As Su Chen walked back after seeing Sang Hanhai off, his mind raced. It seemed the Great Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator was not entirely unknown in this land after all.
