- Chapter 329 - 298: Pseudo-Spirituality, The Cauldron Appears

“Heh…” Chong Jingtian sneered, his tone laced with contempt. “No one asked for your consent.”
“Did you really think that just because Qing Cang seems genial, he’s actually some kind-hearted person? That I could just mention it offhand and he’d agree?”
Zhou Yanwu’s expression darkened. This was what he couldn’t understand. ’How does Chong Jingtian have that much pull?’
“It’s because of… Su Chen,” Chong Jingtian said, glancing at him. “Qing Cang doesn’t actually care what happens to you all. In fact, he might not even be profiting from this deal.”
“It’s just that Su Chen really made a good impression on him, so he did me a favor.”
’Su Chen…’ Zhou Yanwu truly hadn’t expected it. In the end, it all came back to Su Chen.
He had assumed that once Qing Cang and his people arrived, Su Chen would lose all his value. Even if the phenomenon he displayed when facing the Spiritual was astonishing, without powerful backing or a solid foundation, being ’the chosen one’ was a dream that had already passed him by.
’But somehow, he’s caught Qing Cang’s eye…’
“Give up,” Chong Jingtian said, shattering Zhou Yanwu’s last hope. “The deal is done. This is your only path. I know you might still be thinking of contacting the Royal Court.”
“But you need to ask yourself: what value do you have that would make the Royal Court intervene on your behalf?”
Zhou Yanwu stared at him coldly, but his expression soon went blank. ’He’s right… what value do we have?’
Chong Jingtian shook his head to himself, feeling a pang of sorrow. Zhou Yanwu, as if suddenly remembering something, composed himself and said in a low voice:
“What do you think those people would say if they knew about the phenomenon that occurred when Su Chen faced the Spiritual head-on?”
Chong Jingtian’s gaze grew cold, but he said, “That would be perfect. Lord Qing Cang would probably value Su Chen even more, wouldn’t he?”
Despite his words, Chong Jingtian felt a flicker of worry. ’Wan Chen and Lin Yue get along well with Su Chen, partly because of Qing Cang’s attitude, but also because Su Chen isn’t a threat to them.’
’If this gets out, will Qing Cang back him up all the way?’
Chong Jingtian wasn’t sure. Qing Cang’s words still echoed in his ears: ’It doesn’t matter how compatible he is with the profession. His Talent isn’t high enough.’
Even with these thoughts, he certainly wouldn’t show any weakness in front of Zhou Yanwu.
A muscle in Zhou Yanwu’s cheek twitched. Just then, Jiang Shu Mo rushed over, breathless and disregarding all else. “Chief, Celestial Joy’s transport ship has been stopped by Xia Jie.”
Hearing this, Chong Jingtian was momentarily confused, but then his eyes widened in realization. ’Deceitful God’s Power!’
His expression changed, and he hurriedly rushed out after Jiang Shu Mo.
Meanwhile, a blue, hammerhead-shaped transport ship had stopped on the outskirts of the settlement. Before anyone could disembark, they saw they were surrounded by the Bronze Guard Army.
The pilot looked terrified. Over the comms channel, the settlement’s dispatcher ordered them not to move and to await further instructions.
“Commander Xia…”
Xia Hanshi looked at his kinsman, frowning. “Why have you surrounded this transport ship?”
Xia Jie’s face was devoid of arrogance. The old man before him was of the same Professional Tier and not to be underestimated. He explained in a low voice, “My men detected the aura of the Deceitful God on board.”
Xia Hanshi’s heart sank. ’This was exactly the situation I wanted to avoid.’ But after learning that people from the Royal Court were in the area, he hadn’t dared to let the transport ship wait in the distance.
After all, he had to bring Su Chen with him, and if the Royal Court’s people discovered them, it would be all over.
“Right,” Xia Hanshi explained. “The aura of the Deceitful God you mentioned comes from some items that store Ghost God Power. I had them delivered.”
“You had them delivered?” Xia Jie’s brow furrowed, his gaze turning suspicious. “Within the Bronze Sect, anything related to the Deceitful God is considered a forbidden item.”
Xia Hanshi’s eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint in them. “This isn’t the Bronze Sect. Besides, no one here seems to be managing the Holy Banquet, are they?”
Xia Jie’s expression turned cold, but he hesitated. ’This man seems to be Su Chen’s original master.’
’He had seen Su Chen with him more than once recently.’
’If I start a conflict with him…’
“Commander Xia!” Chong Jingtian pushed through the crowd and stepped in front of Xia Hanshi, feigning confusion. “What’s going on here?”
Xia Jie’s expression softened. Seizing the opportunity to de-escalate, he explained the situation again.
“That was my oversight. I should have given you prior notice,” Chong Jingtian explained.
Su Chen heard the commotion and came down from his ship, blending into the crowd.
’Looks like the Deceitful God and anything related to it are despised everywhere,’ he thought, watching the Bronze Guard Army on high alert. He hadn’t expected to cause such a commotion.
Just then, his expression shifted. The assembled crowd parted on its own, creating a path for Qing Cang as he arrived.
He had only emerged from the metal corridor late last night and had been resting ever since.
“What’s wrong?” he asked as he walked into the center of the commotion. Xia Jie had no choice but to explain the reason yet again.
“Something related to the Deceitful God?” Qing Cang raised an eyebrow, though his reaction was muted. His gaze fell upon the transport ship.
Chong Jingtian explained, “These are items we’ve collected over many years of fighting the Deceitful God’s Followers. We had them transported here to see if we could use them to track down any Followers who are in hiding.”
“Oh?” Qing Cang sounded surprised. “You have a way to use this Deceitful God’s Power?”
Chong Jingtian explained helplessly, “It’s just a shot in the dark.”
“I see.” Qing Cang didn’t seem very concerned. After a moment’s thought, he asked, “Are you selling these stores of Deceitful God’s Power?”
“I can make an offer…” He thought for a moment, then trailed off, realizing it would be difficult to name a price.
The standard currency of the Dust Star Sea wasn’t used here, and what Chong Jingtian and his people desperately needed was a solution to the problem of the Holy Banquet—something he couldn’t provide.
