Necromancer Of The Shadows - Chapter 1360: The Beginning Of The War (Part 2)

Chapter 1360: The Beginning Of The War (Part 2)
Evan and the others soon reached above the main camp of the dragons, all four of them standing a few thousand meters high within the void space.
“Since this is the main camp of the dragons, there must be a high-level formation protecting it. Even a Rank Five Core Evolver wouldn’t be able to enter easily,” Sylvan remarked once they came to a stop.
Natasha furrowed her eyebrows at his words, worried that this trio might jump in without any preparation, get caught by the dragons, and drag her down with them.
However, unlike Natasha, Evan and Ashley observed the camp with calm look on their faces and after a moment of silent evaluation, they both nodded in agreement.
If they had been ordinary Rank Five Core Evolvers, it would have been nearly impossible to enter the camp without alerting anyone. But when one possessed the power of the Void Law and another was a Rank Five Core Evolver with mastery over the Space Law, the situation changed entirely.
“What do you think about that guy?” Evan asked after a moment, pointing toward a large tent located near the center of the main camp.
Sylvan and Ashley turned their attention toward the camp, looking at the tent Evan was pointing at. As Law Power surged in their eyes, they easily peered through the tent’s walls.
Although the tent appeared ordinary from the outside, its interior was lavishly equipped with all the facilities needed for daily life— ranging from a spacious bedroom to a bathroom and a comfortable living room.
Yet Sylvan and Ashley paid no attention to the furnishings. Their focus instead fell upon a nearly two-meter-tall man with two dragon horns on his head, quietly cultivating.
The man had dark brown hair, a heavily muscled physique, and arms covered in brown dragon scales.
He was a beginner-level Rank Five Earth Dragon— the fifth strongest dragon currently present in the camp.
Aside from him, there were four other rank-five dragons in the camp— one at the peak, one at the mid level, and two at the beginner level, just like the earth dragon.
However, among them all, the earth dragon’s aura was the weakest so Evan chose him as their target.
Sylvan and Ashley studied the earth dragon for a few seconds before nodding in agreement.
“We need to make sure no energy fluctuations spread outside. Otherwise…” Sylvan trailed off, but they all understood that If any energy signature leaked, they would have no choice but to retreat, losing their one chance to carry out the plan.
“Leave the matter of energy fluctuations to me. You two just focus on taking care of him,” Evan reassured them in a calm voice.
Natasha, however, remained completely oblivious to the details of their plan. Her rank was far too low to perceive their chosen target, so she could only make rough guesses based on their words.
’They are really planning to attack the dragons’ main camp…’ Cold sweat trickled down her back. ’Just what kind of lawless group did I join?’
“Get ready. That guy will notice us the moment we enter his tent,” Ashley reminded Sylvan and Evan.
In the next instant, space fluctuations enveloped them. Their bodies shimmered with silver light, vanishing from the void space, only to reappear an instant later inside the Earth Dragon’s tent— just a few meters from their target.
The moment they appeared inside the tent, the Earth Dragon instantly sensed their intrusion and snapped his eyes open.
But before he could react—
“Shadow World!”
A low voice resonated, and the entire interior of the tent was swallowed by a black dome.
The Earth Dragon shivered as an icy dread gripped him.
Seeing the Shadow World enclose the tent, he immediately understood he was under attack.
“Who ar—”
He tried to send an emergency signal to warn his companions that their camp was under assault, but before he could—
Swish!
An old man appeared directly in front of him, tapping him lightly on the forehead.
The Earth Dragon’s eyes widened in horror and in that brief instant, one chilling thought crossed his mind—
’A Rank Six Core Evolver…’
That realization lasted only a fraction of a second before darkness consumed his vision and his body collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
Evan and Ashley weren’t surprised in the least when they saw this. Sylvan was already at the peak of beginner-level Rank Six, only a step away from mid-level Rank Six.
The Earth Dragon, on the other hand was merely a beginner-level Rank Five who had only recently broken through.
“I almost feel bad for him,” Sylvan muttered, shaking his head as he looked at the corpse.
Evan paid no attention to Sylvan’s sentiment. He knew that once Eldrakar returned from the void space of the Tomb of the Ancient, all these dragons would follow his orders without hesitation and strike at him.
The only reason Evan had targeted demons so heavily and left the dragons alone was because of Anastasia.
If not for her and his certainty that she wouldn’t allow the dragons to move against him, he wouldn’t have hesitated to throw the entire Dragon Islands into chaos as well while Eldrakar was still trapped.
He walked over to the dead Earth Dragon and gazed down at him, his expression tinged with pity—but not for the fallen dragon.
The pity was for himself.
If he hadn’t needed to frame the demons as the assassins, he could have taken the body to increase the level of his Void Law Seal using the Rune of Absorption.
As for turning the dragon into a shadow undead, Evan was still only a beginner-level Rank Four Core Evolver, far from reaching mid-level. Until then, he couldn’t transform a beginner-level Rank Five into a shadow undead.
’Well, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future to create more shadow undeads and acquire high-level bodies to strengthen my Void Law Seal.’
With that thought, Evan began making subtle adjustments to the Earth Dragon’s corpse, altering it so that it appeared as though a demon had been responsible for the assassination.
