Necromancer Of The Shadows - Chapter 1361: The Beginning Of The War (Part 3)

Chapter 1361: The Beginning Of The War (Part 3)
Evan positioned the dead Earth Dragon back in the same place where he had been cultivating before they entered the tent.
Once the dragon looked as if he were calmly cultivating with his eyes closed, Evan took out a Rank-Four dagger coated in poison from his shadow storage.
He had obtained this dagger from one of the people he had killed in the Maldrith Kingdom. With precise and practiced ease, he cleanly slit the dragon’s throat using the dagger.
Since the Earth Dragon was already dead, it wasn’t difficult to slice through his neck. Blood flowed freely from the wound, staining the front of his body a deep crimson.
The scene now resembled one where the dragon had been cultivating in peace, only to have his throat slit by an unseen assassin without even realizing it.
The poison coating the dagger was extremely potent, and within seconds, the Earth Dragon’s skin began to turn a sickly green. Thick, clotted blood oozed from his seven orifices, adding a gruesome touch to the scene.
Once Evan had finished staging the kill, Ashley carefully examined the setup before stepping forward. She retrieved a small vial of blood from her storage ring, uncorked it, and let a few drops fall behind the Earth Dragon’s body.
Evan and Sylvan exchanged confused glances, silently wondering what she was doing.
“It’s the blood of a rank-five demon,” Ashley explained as she put the vial away. “Since we are framing the demons, we might as well leave behind a small clue, right?”
Evan nodded in understanding and even gave Ashley a thumbs-up in approval.
Sylvan, however, looked at her with a complicated expression, as if silently acknowledging that she had indeed been corrupted.
“Let’s get out of here,” Evan said, scanning the surroundings. “It won’t be long before they realize a rank-five dragon has been assassinated.”
Ashley nodded, and once again space fluctuations wrapped around all of them.
From the moment Sylvan killed the rank-five dragon with a single tap of his finger, Natasha had been completely silent as her mind had short-circuited from shock.
Although she had believed Evan and his companions were powerful, she had never imagined they were this strong—especially Sylvan, who turned out to be a rank-six core evolver.
’It hasn’t even been that long since he came to Utopia… Just how did he manage to gather such high-level core evolvers to his side?’ She cried inwardly, stealing a sideways glance at Evan.
In the blink of an eye, Evan and the others vanished from the tent, and the Shadow World Evan had cast dissolved.
The group reappeared high in the sky, once more standing within the void space.
“Now we wait,” Ashley murmured softly, her eyes fixed on the Dragon camp below.
Evan and the others were prepared to wait for hours—or even days before the dragons discovered that one of their own had been killed.
After all, for high-level core evolvers, and especially for dragons who loved to sleep, time flowed differently than for ordinary people.
It was common for them to sit in one place for months without doing anything.
Of course, since this was a war camp, they wouldn’t remain idle for months, but staying inside a tent for several days without emerging was still perfectly normal.
However, just half an hour after Evan and the others had killed the Earth Dragon, a peak rank-two dragon approached his tent.
The rank two dragon respectfully called to Bura—The earth dragon, saying he had been summoned by the other high-level dragons for a meeting.
The rank-two dragon patiently waited outside after making the announcement, but even after five minutes, there was no response.
Thinking Bura might not have heard him, he called again, but there was still no reply.
’Damn it, is this bastard messing with a woman again and ignoring everything else…?’ The peak rank-two dragon cursed inwardly and called out several more times.
But when he still received no answer after calling ten times, unease began to creep into his mind.
’Although this guy is a playboy who likes to fool around, it’s still strange for him to ignore me even when I mentioned Lord Turoon.’
The other dragons patrolling nearby noticed the odd situation and approached the rank-two dragon, asking what was going on.
Soon, even the captain of the guard team—Alison noticed the commotion.
When he was informed of the matter, he frowned and called out to Bura as well.
Receiving no response, his expression turned serious and he made the decision to enter without permission.
“Lord Bura, please excuse my intrusion…” Alison said as he quickly stepped inside the tent.
The moment he entered, the stench of rot assaulted his nostrils, making his face tighten in disgust.
Ignoring the foul smell, he rushed toward its source and when he reached the inner section of the tent, his eyes widened in horror as he saw Bura’s body was already entirely green from the poison and slowly withering away.
The wound at his neck—where Evan had cut him had rotted to the point that his head hung limply to the side, attached only by a few thin strands of flesh.
“Lord Bura!” Alison’s face drained of color as he shouted in horror.
Hearing his voice, the dragons outside exchanged uneasy glances and immediately realized that something serious had happened.
The rank-two dragon who had first come to summon Bura quickly sprinted off to inform the other high-level dragons.
In less than a minute, the other four rank-five core evolvers in the camp rushed to Bura’s tent, their expressions grim.
When they saw the state of his corpse, even they couldn’t help but tremble slightly.
As from the way his body lay, it was clear Bura hadn’t even realized he was being killed before it was over.
High in the sky, Evan, Ashley, and Sylvan observed the scene with satisfied smiles.
“It seems we won’t have to wait long before an all-out war breaks out,” Evan murmured in a low voice, shifting his gaze toward the main camp of the demons.
