Chapter 2854: The Fate of the Elemental Race II
“There is a way but the Great Mother Tree did not agree with it.” Levin Cloud stated.
“I know that you mean well, mediator… but the Great Mother Tree has already told us her choice. She does not want us to sacrifice our lives for a chance that might never come true.” The Fairy King stated as he already knows what Levin Cloud was talking about.
“You have said enough for us, Fairy King. Let the mediator tell us the other way. It is only right for us to hear his suggestion given that you have already surrendered.” The Elemental King of Water stated.
“We beg the mediator to tell us this other way. Even if it is a small chance, we must try because the death of the Great Mother Tree will affect the entire world. Not just Alfheim but also the main world because no elementals will spawn. If there are no elementals then elemental magic will become weak for five decades until the world tree in the main world matures.” The Elemental King of Light stated.
“It is that grave! It seems that you were not entirely honest with me, Fairy King.” Levin Cloud stated with shock as he did not know consequences were that dire.
The Fairy King told Levin Cloud that elemental magic might weaken but that is only for a short while. He did not expect that this short while will be five decades but it is a short while for beings that live forever. The problem is that five decades is already one generation for most mortals. If there is hardly elemental magic then talents that should have flourished will be smothered.
Weakened elemental magic would mean the world will advance at a slow pace and some primitive ways might return. The only problem is that most of the world that they have now involves elemental magic deeply ingrained in their lives. Even villagers that are in the single digit in level can use basic elemental magic for their needs.
The weakening of elemental magic will not weaken the strong because they have ways to harness more. The ones that will be affected are those at the very bottom because that has always been the way of the world. The ones affected by sudden changes that affect the world are those that live day to day. The ones that are rarely and even not affected entirely are those at the top.
If elemental energy really does diminish greatly, the number of mages in the world would also decrease. This would mean that the world will have lesser combatants to defeat powerful monsters or even evil gods. As Levin Cloud pondered on this, he suddenly felt that the sudden awakening of the Primordial Beast Nidhogg was not a coincidence. The awakening of the Primordial Beast Nidhogg is deliberate and was planned to weaken the world.
“If the Great Mother Tree dies, the only one that could replace it is the World Tree that is in Neo Alfheim. What if there was another entity that awakened the Primordial Beast Nidhogg and wanted to sow discord on the world. If the Great Mother Tree dies, the world tree in Neo Alfheim will be the next target.
The destruction of the world tree in Alfheim means elementals will no longer be created. It also means that elemental magic will weaken as well. Someone is trying to erase elemental magic from existence. If that is the case, the only option for us is the plan that I have told you.” Levin Cloud stated.
“I did not think of the future because I am too worried for my subjects but… is it not a conspiracy that another being was involved? If all of the Faekin move to the main world, we will be able to guard against the threat to the world tree there.” The Fairy King stated as he is trying to reason that escaping is better.
“Why are you so against the plan that the mediator has thought of?! Is it too dangerous? Or will it threaten the lives of the Faekin?” The Elemental King of Earth asked.
“The mediator plans to unify Alfheim back into the main world but that is incredibly dangerous. Failure meant the destruction of the entirety of Alfheim and great damage to the main world.” The Fairy King stated which made all of the elemental kings shudder as they did not expect that the plan was that outrageous.
“We already have the spell in unifying fragmented worlds from the main world. I am confident that we can do it successfully but…” Levin Cloud stated.
“There is always a but in cases like this.” The Elemental King of Wind exclaimed.
“Fusing Alfheim to the main world would also mean sending the Primordial Beast Nidhogg to the main world as well. Still, we can at least gather warriors to fight in the main world because we cannot bring them to Alfheim.” Levin Cloud stated.
The reason why normal players cannot step into Alfheim is due to the fact that it has a high concentration of elemental mana dispersed in the air. The concentration is so high that it can actually poison races that are not accustomed to elemental mana. Even undead that is not on the level of the Undead King will turn to dust after a few seconds if they enter Alfheim.
The reason for this is that Elementals give off lots of mana in the area they are in. The reason why the Elemental Kings always retreat back to Alfheim is due to this fact. If they stay too long in the main world back when it was still small, they might push the concentration of elemental mana in the air and suffocate those with bodies that are not accustomed to the elements.
In other words, the air in Alfheim has become akin to toxin to normal races that are not immune to elemental energy. It is also the reason why they cannot send a subjugation army to Alfheim because they would die in a few seconds after stepping foot.
