Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Almost 1,000,000 Combat Power, Waiting For The Others
[You have arrived at the “Expert Divine Temple”]
[Please enter the temple to begin your assessment, you may also rest inside if you want to, though be careful.]
Arriving in the [Expert Divine Temple], Leon immediately lifted his gaze and began carefully observing everything around him.
His eyes moved slowly across the environment as he tried to fully take in every single detail.
Unlike before, Leon understood that the spaces right before the [Divine Temples] were never random and that everything he saw here likely held some deeper meaning tied to what he was about to face.
Back in his first life, Leon had never attempted anything close to an S-Rank assessment in the higher divine temples.
Which meant that a lot of what he was experiencing right now was completely new to him.
Yet at the same time, after going through multiple temples already with high ratings, he had started to notice a clear pattern that connected all of them together.
Each environment before entering the divine temple was not just a simple location, but rather a reflection, a preview, or even a warning of what awaited inside the assessment itself.
And once he realized that, everything began to make much more sense.
For example, the [Novice Divine Temple] had floated high in the sky above the clouds, something that directly related to the [Heavenly Courtyard] one would reach after completing the S-Rank assessment, making the connection obvious once you thought about it for more than a second.
The [Intermediate Divine Temple] had been even easier to understand, as it was constantly surrounded by elemental energy, with traces of fire, water, wind, and earth present everywhere, which perfectly matched the [Elemental Lands] that players were sent to during its S-Rank trial.
As for the [Advanced Divine Temple], Leon hadn’t gone through its proper S-Rank assessment since he had instead been forced into a [God-Rank] one.
But even then, he could still infer what it likely involved, considering how the temple itself had been covered in vegetation and vines, nature overflowing from every corner, suggesting that its trial was deeply tied to that theme.
And now, standing here in front of the [Expert Divine Temple], Leon could already tell that this one was completely different from everything he had seen before.
The sky above him was dim and empty, lacking even the smallest trace of stars or moonlight, giving it a hollow and almost unnatural appearance.
As if it wasn’t truly a sky but rather some kind of empty shell stretching endlessly above him without depth or life.
At the same time, his surroundings felt even more unsettling.
Scattered all around the area were ruined buildings and broken structures, remnants of something that once stood tall but had long since been abandoned and left to decay.
Their forms damaged beyond repair, with collapsed walls, cracked foundations, and pieces missing entirely, creating an atmosphere that felt both ancient and lifeless.
And right in front of him stood the [Expert Divine Temple] itself.
Leon narrowed his eyes slightly as he took in its appearance, immediately noticing that unlike the previous temples, this one did not look pristine or majestic, but instead appeared heavily damaged, with several of its pillars completely broken while others were covered in deep cracks.
Even the marble that made up its surface was no longer smooth, as it was filled with fissures spreading across it like scars.
Giving the entire temple a worn and fractured look that felt completely out of place for something that was supposed to be divine.
And as if all of that wasn’t enough, the lack of players around only made the entire scene feel even more desolate.
Leon glanced around again, confirming that there were barely any people present in the area.
Which, when he thought about it, made perfect sense, since reaching level 75 was not something that happened often.
And even among those who managed to get there, many chose to delay facing the [Expert Divine Temple].
All of that combined created an environment that felt empty, silent, and almost abandoned.
After taking all of that in, Leon shifted his attention and began looking around for Celeste and Emilia.
But after scanning the area for a few seconds, he quickly realized that neither of them had arrived yet.
’Weird, I thought they’d get here before me since I needed more experience,’ Leon thought with a slight shrug, not particularly concerned, ’Oh well.’
Since there was nothing else to do for the moment, he decided to open his panel and check his updated stats, especially his [Combat Power], which he hadn’t paid much attention to recently due to how focused he had been on progressing through [Higher Domain #3].

[Strength: 30,779 + 3078 (+20,000 + 107,714)]
[Agility: 24,678 + 2468 (+15,200 + 31,760)]
[Spirit: 32,294 + 3229 (+17,200 + 105,446)]
[Combat Power: 243,322 (+690,310)]

For a brief moment, Leon simply stared at the numbers in front of him, his expression shifting slightly as the realization slowly settled in.
He hadn’t truly paid attention to his growth until now, but seeing it laid out like this made it impossible to ignore.
His total [Combat Power] had reached 933,632. Close to a million.
A milestone that, even for him, felt somewhat unreal considering how far he had come in such a short amount of time.
A wide smile appeared on his face as he processed that information, a sense of satisfaction rising within him as he thought about everything he had achieved so far.
’I wonder if anything in this assessment can even challenge me at this point, I might actually be too strong for it,’ Leon thought, ’But now that I said that, something horrible is gonna happen.’
With this level of power, even someone like Emilia, who had extremely high durability compared to most players, would likely struggle to withstand his attacks.
’Once Emilia and Celeste upgrade their equipment further and improve their enhancement sub-talents to match mine, they should reach a similar level of [Combat Power],’ Leon nodded to himself, clearly satisfied with that conclusion, ’Perfect.’
With nothing else to do, Leon simply sat down on the ground, remaining completely calm as he waited for his companions to arrive, not bothered by the silence around him.
After a short while, a beam of light suddenly appeared nearby, and another player materialized out of it, immediately noticing Leon since there was no one else around.
“What are you doing?” the demon player asked, clearly confused.
“Waiting for my companions,” Leon replied calmly, not even bothering to stand up, “Go ahead if you want, but be careful inside the temple.”
“Huh,” the demon frowned slightly, shrugging as he responded, “Why would I need to be careful, no one can hurt each other in there.”
Leon let out a faint chuckle, his smile carrying a hint of something that the demon couldn’t quite understand, “You’ll find out.”
There was something about the way Leon said it that made the demon hesitate for a brief moment before turning around and heading toward the temple anyway, clearly not taking the warning too seriously.
Meanwhile, Leon remained where he was, continuing to wait.
