Chapter 257: Chapter 257: The Group’s Plan, Mother Area’s Expedition
Leon could tell. None of them expected much from him.
To them, he was just someone new, someone inexperienced, someone who would likely struggle to keep up, and in a place like this, that usually meant one thing: death.
At best, he might act as support. At worst… he’d be nothing more than a distraction. A meatshield.
Leon didn’t care. Not even a little.
If anything, their expectations made things simpler for him.
“I’ll go,” he said calmly, his tone leaving no room for doubt.
Because to him, this wasn’t about proving anything to them. It was about the chests.
If he could get even one… Then he would get everything inside it.
And that alone would be enough to push him even further ahead.
’I managed to kill the [Forsaken General],’ Leon thought quietly, his eyes narrowing slightly as that memory surfaced again, ’So the [Forsaken Minotaur]… and the third one… they can’t be that much worse.’
Of course, he knew it wasn’t that simple.
That fight had depended on very specific conditions, and more than anything, on a risky plan that could have easily failed.
Crushing a boss with a building wasn’t exactly something you could rely on every time.
But still…
’Who says I can’t do it again?’
Time passed slowly after that.
Alicar kept talking here and there, explaining small things, repeating what they already knew about the city and the expedition, while Leon mostly listened in silence, only responding when necessary, his attention divided between the conversation and his own thoughts.
Then, after about an hour, the others finally began to appear.
Godrick came out first, followed by Oasis, and then Violet.
“I hope all of you took the time to rest,” Violet said as soon as she stepped into the room, her voice calm but carrying weight, her gaze sweeping across the group, “Because today is the day… after this, we’ll attempt to defeat the [Forsaken Minotaur], and once we grow strong enough, we’ll take the [Forsaken Castle].”
The tension was immediate.
Even without saying anything, it was clear that the others understood what that meant.
This wasn’t just another expedition. This was preparation for the final push.
And failure here would cost them everything.
Leon, however, remained relaxed.
After everything he had just gone through, after facing something like the [Forsaken General] and surviving, there wasn’t much left that could shake him easily.
Oasis stepped forward at that moment, pulling out a small device from her inventory before placing it in the center of the room.
Fwoosh!
A holographic projection appeared instantly, forming a detailed map of the [Forsaken City], with various streets, zones, and landmarks marked across it.
Leon glanced at it briefly.
’Not as good as the [World Map],’ he thought, comparing it instantly, ’But it works.’
Unlike his own map, this one had clearly been built over time, manually, through exploration and memory, which meant it lacked precision in certain areas.
Still, considering how long they had been here, it was impressive.
Only a few sections remained dark. The area around the [Forsaken Castle]. And another zone nearby.
“We’re heading here,” Violet said, pointing toward the dark section, “Today… we’re going to kill the [Mother].”
A chill ran through the room.
Godrick tensed slightly. Alicar’s expression hardened. Oasis stayed silent.
The [Mother] wasn’t just another monster.
It was the one controlling all the [Spiders of Darkness] in the city.
Which meant… It was strong. Very strong.
Leon, on the other hand, didn’t react the same way. Instead, he tilted his head slightly.
“…You mean the [Mother’s Area]?” he asked, his tone casual, “That’s where we’re going?”
Violet paused, clearly caught off guard for a second, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked at him.
“…Yes,” she answered after a moment, nodding slowly, “One of the most dangerous places in this city.”
“Oh,” Leon nodded lightly, as if that confirmed something for him, “Alright.”
That reaction made her stare at him for a second longer before she coughed lightly and continued.
“To reach the [Mother’s Area] and eliminate the [Mother], there are a few things we need to be careful about,” she said, shifting back into a more serious tone as she began explaining.
“First, the [Mother] has two guardians, the [Dark Silk Spider] and the [Fire Silk Spider], both extremely powerful bosses that protect the area—”
“—You don’t have to worry about the second one,” Leon interrupted calmly, a faint smile appearing on his face.
The room went quiet for a second. Godrick frowned immediately.
“…Can this human just shut up for a second?” he groaned, clearly irritated, “What is he even talking about? One of those things killed our teammate!”
The others didn’t react as strongly, but their expressions showed the same doubt.
To them, Leon’s words didn’t make sense. They knew how dangerous those spiders were.
They had experienced it firsthand.
But Leon wasn’t joking. He had killed it.
“The [Forsaken Minotaur] doesn’t come near that area, so we’ll be fine on that side,” Violet continued, choosing to ignore the interruption for now, though her expression darkened slightly as she moved on, “But… we need to be extremely careful about the [Forsaken General].”
That name alone was enough to send another wave of tension through the group.
A two-million combat power boss. And one that could summon an entire legion.
“If we encounter it,” Violet said firmly, her voice carrying no hesitation this time, “We abandon the mission immediately and return here, no questions asked, because we cannot defeat it, and if it summons the legion… we die.”
No one argued. They all knew she was right.
But Leon… simply smiled, once more.
“You don’t need to worry about that guy either,” he said casually, his tone almost relaxed, “Or the [Forsaken Legion], actually.”
This time, all of them turned to look at him.
Not just confused. Annoyed.
“…And why would that be?” Violet asked slowly, her voice calm, “It’s not like we can—”
“—Because I killed it,” Leon said, cutting her off without hesitation, his eyes meeting hers directly as a faint pressure rose from him, “It can’t bother us if it’s dead.”
