Chapter 458:Demon Of Abyss
Their clash created a violent shockwave. Snow and dust burst outward in a circular wave and the surrounding stones cracked under the pressure.
Ethan felt it immediately.
The man had blocked his strike with only one hand. And he had done it effortlessly.
Even with the strength boosted by Battle Frenzy, Ethan’s attack had barely pushed the man half a step backward.
The masked man looked at Ethan with quiet curiosity.
“Interesting,” he said softly.
Ethan’s eyes narrowed.
He had already expected this.
A Mythic Rank opponent was far beyond an ordinary Legendary fighter.
But that did not mean he would simply give up.
Ethan twisted his body and launched another attack. This time his sword flashed forward.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
A rapid exchange of strikes filled the night air.
Ethan attacked again and again while his sword cut through the air with incredible speed. Each strike carried enough power to break stone and tear through armor.
But the masked man avoided or blocked every attack with calm precision.
Sometimes he used his dagger.
Sometimes he simply stepped aside.
The difference in control was obvious.
Sometimes he simply stepped aside.
The difference in control was obvious.
After several exchanges, the man finally countered. His dagger flashed forward.
Ethan barely managed to tilt his body aside.
The blade grazed his ribs and cut through his coat again.
A thin line of blood appeared.
Ethan jumped back several meters and steadied his breathing.
The masked man lowered his dagger slightly.
“You fight well for someone at your level,” he said calmly.
“But this is pointless.”
Ethan wiped the blood from his side and gave a faint smile.
As he did, the wounds across his body slowly began to close.
The torn flesh knit together and the bleeding stopped. The masked man’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“Then why are you still standing there talking?” Ethan replied.
The masked man paused for a moment.
Then he sighed quietly.
He moved forward, but he had hardly taken a step when a sword cut through the air toward him.
The sudden attack forced him to dodge.
Ethan’s eyes flashed.
“Holy Sword Judgement!”
Brilliant light erupted around him.
Several glowing swords formed in the air, each one shining with intense holy energy. They shot forward and stabbed into the ground around the masked man.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The blades struck the earth in a circle and formed a radiant prison of light.
Chains of energy connected the swords and sealed the space inside.
For a brief moment the masked man was trapped. If the prison fully closed, the battle would end immediately.
But the man moved like a slippery eel.
His body twisted sharply and slipped through the narrowing gap between the swords. His movements were so precise and fast that he escaped just before the barrier completed.
He rolled away and landed outside the prison.
“Damn…” Ethan muttered under his breath.
This was the first time his sword judgement array failed.
Should I just use the bloodline blessing to gather strength?
If he used that power, the fight might end instantly.
But Ethan hesitated.
If more enemies appeared later, he could only use that power once, and using it too early could leave him vulnerable.
The masked man moved rapidly around the battlefield. He struck the light swords one by one while avoiding the glowing chains that connected them.
CLANG! CLANG!
Several blades shattered under his attacks.
“Those swords are dangerous,” the masked man said calmly while moving around the prison.
“But too bad you need to catch me first.”
As he spoke, the air around him suddenly changed.
Heavy pressure spread across the battlefield.
Even the wind seemed to freeze.Ethan felt it immediately.
This was the difference between their ranks.
The man had not even used his full strength yet.The masked man took one step forward.
The snow beneath his foot melted instantly under the pressure of his aura.
“You are strong for a Legendary knight,” he said.
“But you are still a Legendary knight.”
His figure vanished.
Ethan’s pupils shrank.
Too fast.
The masked man appeared directly behind him.The dagger moved silently toward Ethan’s neck.
But at the last moment Ethan twisted his body.
The blade missed his throat by a hair.
Ethan swung his elbow backward. The masked man blocked it again. But this time Ethan followed with a spinning slash.
The sword forced the man to step back slightly.
However the masked man turned around at the last moment and snapped his hand forward with heavy force.
The strike moved toward Ethan’s chest like a crushing hammer.
But before it could land—
An ancient hoarse voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.
“Aren’t you ashamed dealing with kids who isn’t even one fifth of your age?”
The voice was old and calm.
But the power behind it was terrifying. An invisible force filled the air instantly. Both Ethan and the masked man froze in place.
The masked man suddenly felt a chill crawl down his spine.
A strange sense of déjà vu struck him.
Slowly, almost unwillingly, he lifted his head and looked toward the darkness beyond the ruined battlefield.
What he saw made his breathing stop.In the darkness of the sky, two eyes stared back at him.
They were deep, cold, and terrifying.
Those eyes carried a savage hunger that seemed capable of devouring everything.
The masked man’s knees weakened slightly.
“Those gazes…” he whispered.
“No… it can’t be…”
His voice trembled as realization struck him.
“Shouldn’t you be held up in Ruthiana?”
His breathing became uneven.
“So what is the demon of Abyssal doing here?”
For a moment the battlefield remained silent.
Then—
“HOHOOOO!”
A soft chuckle echoed through the night.
But the sound exploded like thunder across the frozen plain. The ground trembled slightly as the laughter rolled across the battlefield.
From the darkness beyond the broken pillars, a figure slowly stepped forward.
The man walked calmly, as if he had all the time in the world.
His long coat moved gently in the cold wind while his presence pressed heavily against the surroundings.
Even the air seemed to grow thicker as he approached.
Ethan watched carefully. The newcomer looked like an ordinary old man at first glance, but something about him felt completely different.
His aura was vast and ancient.
It felt like standing before a sleeping beast.
The old man placed his hands behind his back and looked toward the masked assassin with amusement in his eyes.
“Never knew someone remembered that old name of mine,” he said.
His voice carried a playful tone, but the power behind it was unmistakable.
Then he laughed again.
“Ahaha… what an honor to be remembered by those old times.”
The masked man expression tensed.
