Chapter 916: Straw Hat Coolness
BOOOOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOM!
“It’s a bit early for fireworks, isn’t it?” Rael said matter-of-factly.
Though the duo beside him didn’t share the same sentiment. While he was stuck in the High Tower, these two fought on the front lines of humanity and defended against the greatest of threats.
And for one, they knew that the only beings capable of terrorism in a large city such as Seoul were those that had immeasurable power.
After all, these rockets weren’t exploding inside the city. In fact, they were exploding in outer space, sending such powerful shockwaves that managed to even shake the surroundings and shatter some glass down below.
The threat was serious, and they acted accordingly. Melissa immediately dialed up her organization, and as for Altros, he was the first one to react as he burst through the cafe’s windows and darted straight to the sky.
He was like the first line of defense for this world, as his constitution made him that much more special than everyone else. And so while he was already en route to space, Melissa continued texting and calling everyone she could to let them know of the dangers and prepare some countermeasures.
Though in her peripheral vision, she managed to catch a glimpse of Rael. He was just standing there with an unamused expression. Then, he yawned, almost as if he didn’t care about the situation in the slightest.
All she knew about him was that he was strong. How strong…? She had no idea. Maybe slightly stronger than her brother and herself? A Grade, maybe two Grades higher?
That was what she thought, and seeing him act so nonchalantly thoroughly pissed her off.
“What are you doing? Aren’t you going to help?”
“Are you being attacked?” Rael asked with a raised brow.
She scoffed. “Of course we are. Go up there and help my brother.”
Rael stared at her for a moment, then let out a chuckle. “And why should I? Do you expect me to hold your hand every time you’re in trouble? Figure it out yourselves. It’s not like the being who came here is that strong. I could probably swat him away with a single booger.”
He smiled at her and then walked through the broken glass of the cafe, spotting hundreds of people running around in a panic. There were survival shelters everywhere, and from the looks of things, those people were running into them.
Rael kind of wanted to be one of those people. Maybe a little deep down, he felt like he wanted to be a damsel in distress. He could leave his counterparts to deal with the rest.
Though as he glanced back up at the sky, his eyes peered into space, locking onto a figure wielding a katana and wearing a straw hat.
He was a Grade 6 powerhouse, and comparing that to Altros, who was a top-tier Grade 2… he was a lot stronger. If the two of them went head to head, Altros would be killed in a fraction of a second.
On that note, if that swordsman up there so much as wanted to destroy the planet, he could do so with a single slash of mana. It really was ridiculous how such a being even managed to end up here, but if it meant anything, Rael was sure that this being meant no harm.
He might be some kind of explorer. Someone so bored that they do nothing but travel around, search for worlds, eat some food, and then fuck off elsewhere.
This guy might be someone like that too.
Rael thought of going ahead and just letting them deal with it. But that was when he spotted the swordsman suddenly raise his katana and, without hesitation, bring it down at Altros.
But in that split moment, Rael managed to cross the distance of several thousand kilometers and arrive in space, only inches away from the swordsman and Altros. Time had frozen completely, and Rael merely stared at the katana just a breath away from Altros’s neck.
He was really curious how Altros had gotten himself in this kind of predicament, but then again, he didn’t exactly want Altros to die. Not now, at least.
So with that in mind, Rael went ahead and placed a single finger on the katana, turning it into dust. As for the man who was so confidently swinging his katana down, Rael decided to steal his stupid ass straw hat and put it on.
He was thinking of discarding it right after, but in all honesty, it did look pretty cool on his head. Sure, his wives were going to burn it once he came back, but until then, he could act like some hard-headed pirate.
Oh, and on that note, Rael snapped his fingers, finally unfreezing time. Everything resumed to normal, and only then did Altros react, stepping back in alertness. However, when he realized that there was no katana in sight, he was a little puzzled.
Even more puzzled was the person who had swung his katana and suddenly found it missing. Alongside that was the straw hat, which coincidentally hid his bald spot.
Now that the tables had turned so considerably, and all parties realized that someone had intervened, they all glanced over at Rael, who was just floating beside them.
He wore the straw hat belonging to the swordsman, and to top it all off, he had also managed to travel to Earth, grab some hay, and stick it in his mouth. Obviously, he might’ve accidentally overestimated how much hay he needed to put in to look cool, since now, he looked like some cow.
But on the flip side, everyone took him seriously. Altros, because he knew roughly how powerful Rael was, and as for the swordsman, he could feel an instinctive fear every time he glanced into Rael’s innocent eyes.
He felt like at any moment, he would be killed.
And of course, he wasn’t wrong.
Except now, Rael wasn’t in the fighting mood.
Instead…
“Let’s do some politics, shall we?”
