- Chapter 953 953: End Of The Encounter

With the death of the noble, Rael and the others quickly made their way out of the estate, erasing all evidence of them ever being there to begin with.
Of course, Rael didn’t really mind the women doing this, since had they not done it, he would’ve done it himself. Now, as they floated above the city and observed the confused looks on the kids’ faces, they couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
“This doesn’t sound like being a guardian angel, does it?” Rael said, giving Nyx the side-eye.
She scoffed at him and didn’t say anything. Gaia, on the other hand, was smiling. She appreciated this kind of gesture more than either of them knew.
After all, for a being so old, she did have a soft spot for human affairs, especially affairs involving children. She was sure there was much more of this kind of evil happening in this world, and while she might not be able to solve all the world’s problems, she was determined to at least not ignore the ones in front of her.
On that note, she now had a different perception of Nyx. At first, she thought that Nyx was just someone who appeared bored, and rather than realistic, she was much more idealistic. Though with her so prepared to just let those kids run to their deaths… Gaia might need to rethink what kind of person Rael was dealing with.
But until then, she decided to ignore the red flags and focus on the present. Speaking of, they had spent lots of time here already, so if she was correct, Ren should come back within the next two minutes or so.
For that reason alone, she decided not to waste more of their time, and with a single thought, she enveloped them in her mana and brought them back to the beam of light that they had descended from.
And unlike the dragon who supposedly couldn’t fly past 1,000 meters, Gaia and the others were able to. Once they were far enough away, the life in that world faded, almost like the world didn’t exist to begin with.
In its place, thousands of mountains appeared once more, making Gaia realize just how much potential the Abyss had for such irregularities. Nonetheless, by the time they arrived at the top, they had all noticed a familiar presence descend from the sky as well.
Rael in particular though, still felt really bored. He kind of wanted to spend a lot more time down there. Still, seeing Ren descending toward them, he straightened his back and greeted him.
“How did it go?”
Ren stared at him for a moment, then shrugged. “No idea. I gave those fish an enclosure, and also patched up some holes that I found. Whether they stay patched up or not is something I can’t really say for certain. How about you? I take it you went down to the world below?”
Rael nodded. “It’s an interesting world. But why have such a vulnerability?”
“We can’t establish ourselves without it. Those miniature worlds give us power through which we can channel our Concepts. Without those worlds, Concepts such as Death and Life wouldn’t exist. You would either never die, or you would cease to exist… It’s important to maintain that balance,” Ren replied honestly.
It seemed like his earlier thoughts weren’t that far off. It really was all about balance. But then again, there must be a much better way to deal with this kind of balance rather than setting up so many weaknesses.
But oh well, Rael wasn’t the person who should be worrying about that kind of stuff. If the Concepts collapse, he’d just create new ones which would replace the ones that disappeared.
With that in mind, Rael and Ren chatted for a little more. He was still a little confused why Ren wouldn’t let them enter the temple, but since he couldn’t really bait the answer out of him, Rael stopped trying and merely waved his hand at Ren.
Finally, Ren nodded at the three of them and raised his hand.
“I’ll call upon you when your help is needed. Do note though… If these people truly have a vendetta against us and have found a way to enter our realm, I’ll be calling you much more frequently.”
Rael shrugged. “Do whatever you need to do. Oh, also. The other Concepts won’t bother me, right? When Isobel had descended earlier, lots of other people were watching us, so I figured they’d try to invade our privacy.”
A chuckle left Ren’s mouth. “Don’t worry. Your importance to us exceeds greed. You’re a necessity, and someone we’d much rather not lose. Simply put, you’re safe. You will remain safe. Take care, Rael.”
With that, he waved his hand and sent all three of them through an invisible portal. Their bodies churned in pain, but by the time they knew what was happening, they were already back in their home, standing outside the mansion.
Surprisingly, Zafira, Lilith, and Melina were still working on the ship, barely even noticing their arrival. Rael didn’t mind it, but…
“He made it sound like if he ever found a replacement, you’d be the first to go,” Nyx said the obvious.
Rael nodded. “It did seem like it, yeah. He doesn’t seem like a very awe-inspiring leader of the people. Well, I just hope by the time it comes down to us fighting, I’m stronger than him. Speaking of, Gaia, are you stronger than him?”
Gaia shook her head. “Beings of such a level don’t really fight. Having access to a Concept makes them essentially the highest and most powerful beings in existence. Sheer strength and grade aren’t enough to defeat him, so no. I’m not as powerful as him, and I will most likely never be.”
Rael hummed in amusement. There were a few things he was curious about, and one of them had something to do with Gaia’s origins and her personality.
“Say, if we invaded the Concept of Life and put you in charge, would you be stronger then?”
