Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family - Chapter 1165 A text message

Despite the sword coming directly for him, Jaku still had that smile on his face. A little bit bemused, as if he knew that the sword was of little importance.
Fenix arrived just beside Jaku, his sword meeting Arthur’s. The Lionheart genius kept his eyes on Jaku, glaring at him, challenging him, as if he wanted Jaku to fight him. Yet, the demi-human simply shrugged and turned away. He didn’t seem all that interested in the fight, especially since he knew that winning would mean nothing.
The reason why he had to forfeit the match against Fenix was all because of the chocolate ice cream.
What was he in this exhibition tournament for? For glory, definitely not. For fame, no. Jaku didn’t even want to become the only student of the Heavenly Swordmistress.
He was only in this tournament because he wanted to help the Reborn company.
They needed to advertise the chocolate ice cream. And right now, Fenix was the ideal candidate for that. His very triumph in the tournament verified the rumors about the ice cream, about how it could empower those who consumed it.
If Jaku beat Fenix now, then it would only undermine that idea. So, Jaku forfeited. He cared not for the exhibition tournament. He cared not for whoever wore the crown of the most talented swordsman. He just wanted to sleep.
And so, he did.
Arthur, still seething from his interaction with Jaku, finished off his opponent in record time, moving on to the finals to face Fenix.
Many were awed at the Lionheart genius. And most thought that even Fenix’s recovered Maugnetic heart wouldn’t be able to compete against a genius such as that.
And as it turned out, they were right.
Fenix fought proudly, with all of his power and determination against Arthur. He still lost. The Lionheart genius had proved far too powerful, too experienced, and too angry to be defeated.
In terms of pure talent, Fenix was probably only a smidge lower than Arthur. So, their fight should have lasted longer and more evenly.
However, Fenix had only just recovered his strength. Arthur had been polishing his sword from the very beginning, while Fenix could only try to catch up to him in a single day. There was no way that Fenix would be able to contend against him.
Even the chocolate ice cream could not even the odds.
Still, it had done its wonders. Fenix reached the finals, when most expected him to bow out in the first round.
A couple of minutes later, the rowdy cheering and celebrations from the crowd were slowly silenced. A figure emerged from the tunnels, her very presence sharp and demanding the attention of everyone around her.
It was none other than Eldea, the Heavenly Swordmistress.
Drab in her simple and austere white uniform, and the cloth around her eyes made her seem like an institutionalized patient. However, the way she kept herself still, the way she made her way through the arena without any stumbling, made people realize that she wasn’t as blind as she looked.
Arthur stood at the center of the stage, awaiting the Heavenly Swordmistress.
Even though he’d been waiting for this very moment for years on end, he couldn’t help but bite his lips. This win… it didn’t feel deserved. He felt as if he hadn’t fought the very best of the best.
He furtively sneaked a glance to the side. Jaku was now away, probably sleeping in his own makeshift bed.
Arthur didn’t know why. Even though he was confident he’d win against the demi-human, he felt as if he hadn’t really proved himself since he hadn’t met blades with Jaku.
His Sword Heart was telling him something. An intuition. A feeling that told him that he wasn’t the best swordsman in his vicinity. That unnerved him, despite winning the tournament that was supposed to have proved him so.
“Today is a momentous occasion,” said the Heavenly Swordmistress. “And we have found our strongest swordsman in all the lands.”
Eldea raised her sword, still in its sheathe, and pointed it above Arthur’s head.
“As the Heavenly Knight of the Way of the Sword, I hereby declare—”
Just as she was about to say something, she felt something in her pockets.
Her phone vibrated. And as the crowd awaited for her next words with held breaths, they too heard that ringing from her phone that signalled a message.
She took out her phone, reading it in its entirety.
And as she did, her eyes widened.
{Message from: Huntrax}
{They’re coming.}
That was all he said. And that was enough for Eldea’s hairs to stand on end. Immediately, her senses felt the anomalies around her. They sprouted, like darkened weeds made out of the blight.
They appeared all around the arena, showing themselves amongst the innocent bystanders.
The Ersatz. They had infiltrated the Colosseum, placing themselves in strategic positions to make sure that they could fulfill their mission—whatever that was.
And whatever that was, she was going to stop it.
Thankfully, Huntrax was able to warn her.
From her perspective, time stopped to a stand still. This gave her time to assess her situation.
Right now, she was the only one who noticed the problem. Which meant, she was the only one who could do something about it.
Huntrax must have been in a precarious situation himself or else he would have come here himself and dealt with the problem. He must have risked his life to send this message.
And so, she decided on a plan.
In an instant, she spread her senses. A Nascent Influence exploded out of her body.
Time resumed, and all around the Colosseum, people winced. They felt prickly. They couldn’t open their eyes, as if there were tiny needles poking them.
This was what happened when a cultivator at the peak of her power used their Nascent Influence on mortals.
She couldn’t weaken it, or else she’d weaken the protective barrier she put on the entirety of New Sparta.
At the same moment, the Ersatz moved.
