Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2136: A familiar fear

Chapter 2136: A familiar fear
The more that the corruption energy monsters gathered, the more it seemed like things were getting troublesome.
We did what we could to take care of them and the barrier was able to keep them out, but it really seemed like the forces of Destruction were going all out with how many corruption energy monsters came at us.
It really seemed like they wouldn’t stop unless they got what they came for.
“Is it really that important that they get Dorothy? If that’s the case, then why did they abandon her in the first place?”
The more that I thought about it, the more confused I was about all of this.
After all, it really didn’t seem to make any sense at all why they were doing this.
But there wasn’t anything that we could do as we were surrounded by the corruption energy monsters.
Between Joan and I clearing them out with her flame breath and the soldiers fighting with the divine energy weapons, it seemed like we would be able to hold out.
Only I had a bad feeling about all of this.
After all, there wasn’t a single sign of anything else that appeared.
“If they really were this desperate, where are the Apostles of Destruction?”
That was the strange thing about all of this where there wasn’t a single Apostle of Destruction that showed up in the end. It seemed like the corruption energy monsters were nothing more than a headless mob with how they kept charging the barrier.
If they committed this much and they didn’t even have a plan, then it really seemed strange.
That was why I was certain that there would be another prong to this attack from the forces of Destruction.
In the end, I was right as I felt a familiar fear come over me.
The moment that I felt this fear, I could already guess what kind of thing was coming.
Though compared to before, it seemed like this fear was a bit weaker. It seemed that I had at least built up a bit of resistance as I wasn’t as affected by this fear as I was in the past.
Even so, that didn’t mean that the one that inspired the fear was any weaker.
In the first place, I felt that fear because I was completely outclassed by the other side.
Now that it had become a bit weaker, it meant that I was at least capable of resisting the one that released this feeling of fear. It didn’t mean that I had caught up to them or that I was able to fight them alone.
“Call for Lupus, I’ll need her help.”
I gave this decisive order the moment that I felt this fear come over me.
The others that were with me were surprised since they didn’t know why I suddenly gave this order, but they still ran off to find Lupus and bring her here.
After I gave this order, I could see that there was something different about the corruption energy monsters outside the barrier. They were no longer charging as if they didn’t care about their lives at all.
It seemed like there was some kind of order that was given to them that made them much more organized.
It didn’t mean that they stopped their attacks, it was just that most of them seemed to have sensed something and moved away from the barrier. This lull in the attack gave the guards that were at the edge of the barrier some time to breathe.
But that didn’t mean that it was over yet.
The fact that they were drawing back like this made it seem like they were winding up for some kind of big attack.
This was proven when the corruption energy monsters suddenly started to merge together to form the larger corruption energy monsters.
With them going from mindlessly attacking to grouping up like this, it seemed like there was some kind of brain that was now controlling the masses of corruption energy monsters.
“This is the real assault! Everyone, prepare yourself for the final fight!” I gave this order once the large corruption energy monsters started forming.
The ones that were on the city walls all looked anxious, but there was nothing that we could do about this since they were still going to come no matter what we did.
Instead, it was actually someone on our side that launched the first move.
This wasn’t something that we had expected, but it certainly was effective.
Before anyone could even react, there was this large slash that suddenly came out from the city walls. This slash cut right through the air and continued until it hit one of the large corruption energy monsters.
That large corruption energy monster just couldn’t resist the force behind this slash at all as it was cut in half.
When those two halves of the large corruption energy monster fell, they also started being purified by the divine energy inside of the slash. This was an attack that not just anyone could release.
Looking down, I saw that it was old man Lancelot that had released this slash.
Seeing that it was old man Lancelot that released this attack, I wasn’t surprised. After all, I knew the grudge that old man Lancelot held against the forces of Destruction and how badly he wanted to fight them.
The fact that he hadn’t rushed out when we were surrounded by corruption energy monsters like this was already him showing restraint.
So for him to suddenly release this attack, it seemed like he couldn’t take it anymore.
Though I also knew that this wasn’t the only reason that he had released this attack.
The looks on the faces of the soldiers on the wall were more than enough to show the effect of this slash.
He had effectively raised their morale with just this single slash.
“It seems like he’s gotten much better at using those divine relics. As expected of the former number one knight.”
