Chapter 2183: Dark tidings

“I won’t let you!”

By the time that I reacted, I could tell that there was something that changed with Dorothy.

Not only that, it seemed like there was something that changed with War’s core as well.

The swelling that had been going on with the core suddenly stopped and it was as if there was something that was compressing it. But that also only lasted a few seconds before it started swelling once more.

It seemed like War’s core was falling into a cycle where it was swelling and then compressing.

With the way that it changed like this, it really seemed like there were two different forces that were fighting over control of the power inside of the core.

One was trying to blow it up and the other was trying to stabilize it.

It was just that when I saw War’s core fluctuating like this, I didn’t know what to do.

After all, it felt like that core would break down with a single pin prick.

If I were to hit it with my all out attack, there was no telling what would happen. It wasn’t as if my all out attack was strong enough to purify all of the power that was contained within that core.

It would be enough to break down the core, but all the power would have to scatter away.

“Do it! I’ll restrain the power inside of it!”

While I was hesitating, Dorothy made the decision.

I still had a trace of hesitation when I heard this, but I forced that feeling down as I focused on sending all my power at that core.

“Ultimate Endless Storm!”

This time, I added an ultimate in front of it because it was an attack that was stronger than the last one that I used.

This one should be the one that would bring down War.

“No! This isn’t how it was supposed to turn out!”

Even though War had been arrogant earlier, it seemed like it really couldn’t help breaking down when everything was turned against it like this.

In that final moment, it was as if War was trying to do all that it could to prevent this from happening.

Only it seemed like there was nothing that War could do to stop the core from collapsing.

While War cursed, there were more and more cracks that started forming on the core.

In the first place, War had only been arrogant because of the power that it possessed. But now that power was being taken away from it, it seemed like it was reverting back to the personality that it had before.

This was something that I had already seen with the other Apostles of Destruction.

In the first place, the only reason that they had fallen into becoming Apostles of Destruction was because they were in a weak place. They were those that had their desires provoked and fell for the words of the God of Destruction.

The worse off they were, the stronger they would become.

Which meant that someone like War should have had one of the strongest desires out of them all.

“No one can die without my permission!”

That was the last thing that War said before the core completely shattered.

The way that War said this was as if it was desperately telling a group of people not to die.

For War to have become the Apostle of Destruction that represented War…

“Was it a casualty from the war of the gods?” I couldn’t help wondering as I watched the core fade away.

However, that thought was tossed out of my mind as I realized that there was something unnatural about the way that the core was fading away.

The corruption energy that made up the core was disappearing, but it seemed like there was a part of it that was flowing in a certain direction. It seemed like it was flowing in the direction of Dorothy still flying up in the sky.

“Is this how she’s stopping the explosion?”

I couldn’t help feeling that there were some dark tidings because of this.

Dorothy was taking the strain of this corruption energy into herself, not to mention that this corruption energy wasn’t just any kind of corruption energy. This was pure destruction energy that came from one of the Four Omens.

It really didn’t feel like Dorothy was able to take this into herself…

When Zeldir landed, I immediately went over to Dorothy’s side to see if I could purify and restrain some of the corruption energy that she was absorbing.

Only when we went over, I found that there was a change that came over Dorothy.

Before this, she looked like a child.

Now, it seemed like she had grown into a teenager.

At the same time, it seemed like she was also slowly growing as she absorbed the corruption energy.

With the way that her aura changed, it felt like she was about to change into something else.

Which was why I raised my hand to release my divine energy.

I had wanted to help her by purifying some of the corruption energy that she absorbed, but it seemed like it had actually formed some kind of barrier around her that prevented my divine energy from approaching.

So the only thing that I could do in the end was form a cage of divine energy around her.

While I wasn’t able to suppress the corruption energy with this cage of divine energy, I was at least able to ensure that she wouldn’t be able to harm anyone else with it. At the same time, I made sure that she wouldn’t be able to get away if something did happen.

But this wasn’t the important thing.

The important thing was figuring out how to stop the corruption energy that was surging into Dorothy and making her change like this.

Not to mention that while this was happening, I couldn’t help feeling a bad sensation from her.

It was as if she was becoming something that she shouldn’t become…
