Once the dagger had finished condensing, I didn’t hesitate at all to shoot it at the corruption energy spike in front of me.

This dagger was the strongest attack that I could come up with, so I wasn’t holding back at all.

It was just that the moment that the dagger made contact with the corruption energy spike.

“Tink…”

A strange look appeared on my face when I saw it being bounced back by the corruption energy spike.

It wasn’t as if the corruption energy spike had completely destroyed the dagger, but it had bounced it off like it was nothing. It didn’t even seem like this dagger that represented the strongest attack that I possessed had done anything to it.

“There’s a dent.” Max said all of a sudden which caught me off guard.

He hadn’t moved away even though I had condensed my domain, he had actually stood there right beside me as if he was trying to experience the domain in all of its splendor.

Only Max lost interest in the domain once I started attacking the corruption energy spike.

Following his gaze, I found that he was right about there being a dent on the corruption energy spike. It was just that this dent was so small that it was almost negligible…

With a wave of my hand, the dagger floated into the air once more and flew at the same spot that I had attacked before. The dagger hit right where that dent was, but the same thing happened where it was sent flying once more.

“The dent is bigger.” Max said as if he was certain of this.

Though from what I could see, it really didn’t seem like the dent was much bigger.

It was only through using the power of my domain that I was able to figure out that this was indeed the case. The problem was that the dent really didn’t grow that much compared to before.

Then with the third throw, the dagger actually snapped.

It didn’t shatter to pieces, but it did snap in half.

It had to be known that this was a special dagger that had been created by stacking many layers of divine energy on top of each other. It wasn’t the kind of dagger that should have snapped that easily.

Unless this corruption energy spike was something that was…

“Just what is this thing?” I couldn’t help asking as I stared at this spike.

In the end, the others came forward as well.

It wasn’t that they didn’t have faith in me, it was just that they knew that this was taking too long. There was no telling if something would happen with the spike now that we had provoked it, so they wanted to settle this as soon as possible.

It didn’t take long before many different domains overlapped with each other around this spike.

Then there were all kinds of different attacks that landed on the spike from different directions. All of us were using our strongest attacks to try and break down this spike.

However, it didn’t seem like it was going to work…

“Am I even making a dent?” That was what some of the others were saying.

However, they weren’t just asking this because they weren’t confident. It was because they actually weren’t making a dent on this corruption energy spike even though they were giving their all to attack it.

It seemed like there were only a few that were even able to make a dent on the spike like me.

The problem was that the dents that we created were all too small to actually be considered actual damage to the spike. Even if we attacked in the same spots, the dents wouldn’t actually grow that much bigger.

At this rate, it really seemed like it would take us a long time to actually break down this spike.

After all, we hadn’t even broken down 1% of the spike so far.

“Just what is this thing?”

Seeing that the others were slowly running out of energy, I had no choice but to give the order to stop.

There were some that stopped right away since they had completely drained themselves. There were some that wanted to keep going even though it looked like they were about to fall over.

In short, this spike had hurt everyone’s pride.

It wasn’t strange that they were feeling this way since they had all been working hard at grasping these domains and they felt that they had become stronger. But now there was this random corruption energy spike that just appeared that they couldn’t even leave a dent on.

So there were some that really wanted to keep going at this spike.

After resting, we continued to hit the spike with the same attacks as before.

Only this time, we started hitting it in turns to see if we could whittle it down like this.

The problem was that it really didn’t seem like we were able to break through it.

After a while, it even seemed like we were no longer able to leave a dent on this spike.

It seemed like there was something under the surface that was stopping us from going any deeper.

“Just what is this thing?” That was the thought that appeared in everyone’s mind once more.

After all, we had never seen anything like this spike before.

“Let this be the only one.” That was the other thing that we thought, but it seemed like we had just jinxed ourselves.

It wasn’t just a single one, but two other spikes that were found by the scouts.

After confirming it with the scouts that came to report, we found that it was exactly the same as the one in front of us.

“We can’t even deal with this one spike and now there’s two more that appeared? What are we even supposed to do about this?”

There was no answer that followed when I said this out loud.
