Chapter 189: Mammoth Head Lantern
“Do you want a patch of my skin?”
To the rest of the Wean Clansmen in the Wean Palace hall, this statement didn’t mean anything. They wondered what benefit Torq could get from a patch of skin, but their thoughts didn’t go beyond that.
Only the ones aware knew the implication behind it, which was only Torq at the place, ’He…knows!’
Torq wasn’t sure of the means used by the Celestial Boar to figure out his identity. However, upon a glance of his surroundings, he focused on the expressions of the people nearby, ’None of them seem to have reacted strangely to this question.’
He noticed the Celestial Boar too was observing the people around, ’Was it a test? To see if the Celestial Rotocok had made preparations to infiltrate us somehow?’
He then considered the proposition. Obtaining the Celestial Boar’s skin was enough to create its Pet. However, the idea was laughable, ’It’ll take me forever to charge it up.’
The sheer amount of Prana necessary to charge up the Celestial Boar Pet would require him to constantly consume food for decades, or even a Century. There was literally zero benefit associated with it.
Most of all, the current him, as the Empyrean Spectral Boar, was already a watered down version of the Celestial Boar. It was better to develop his powers, so that he could take advantage of them in a future timeline using his Blessed Clansman’s State of Harmony.
Two seconds later, Torq shook his head, “I don’t need it, Your Majesty.”
“Alright,” The Celestial Boar didn’t seem to mind the answer and instead asked casually, “State your desire.”
“I wish to be a part of the expedition.” Torq bowed as he stated his desire.
“MyuraBuntara,” The Celestial Boar uttered and spoke once a woman walked out from the file of Wean Clansmen along the sides of the hall, “Do you accept your son’s enlistment into the expedition?”
Torq perked up the moment he heard his mother’s name being mentioned. Upon staring at the hooded figure that had responded and walked out, his eyes grew moist, ’Mother!’
“I accept your arrangements, Ancestor!” MyuraBuntara seemed to hesitate for a moment before expressing with resolve.
“So it shall be.” The Celestial Boar eyed Torq and spoke as a Wean Clansman rushed towards Torq and presented forth a Vara Lantern, “You have four days to complete your preparation. Purchase anything you need. There’s enough funds in that Vara Lantern to satisfy anything you wish to buy.”
“You’ll be assigned to your respective group on the day of the expedition and will also be granted gear for the expedition.” The Celestial Boar thought for a moment and then asked, “Did you like the previous gift?”
“Yes!” Torq shouted in excitement, “I’ve already fed the Elixir of Free Cultivator to him.”
“I see,” The Celestial Boar understood what Torq wanted and commanded, “Let the Roshmon accompany you as your mount.”
A Wean Clansman then escorted Torq out of the Wean Palace. A few hours later, Torq had returned home to a slightly sullen AuraBuntara, “I’m back.”
“Are you leaving on the expedition?” She asked, tearing up the moment Torq nodded.
“Wait here!” Saying as such, AuraBuntara rushed into her room and walked out shortly after, holding a sculpture with her. It was of her and Torq, made using Vara, “I’ve infused my presence within it.”
The sculpture was pretty small and could be encased within a thumb-sized locket. AuraBuntara placed the locket in Torq’s hand, “Even when you’re deep in enemy territory, and when things feel hopeless, let this help your fighting spirit.”
“Know that you have someone waiting for you at home, brother.” She said and hugged Torq tight, “I want you to remember us, so that you will return alive.”
“I will,” Torq hugged his sister, remaining in the same pose for a few minutes. Then, he walked to the door upon hearing a knock and opened it, noticing a Wean Clansman standing outside. ’I remember seeing him at the palace hall.’
“This is a gift personally meant for you from the Ancestor.” The Wean Clansman said, placed a small box in the living room, and took his leave after a bow.
“Hmm…?” Torq wondered what the gift was as he closed the room and approached the box.
“Another gift from the Ancestor?” AuraBuntara asked.
“The reward I asked for was only to be a part of the expedition.” Torq expressed his confusion as he opened the lid to the box, “I don’t know wha…”
Words got stuck in his throat, failing to budge as he stared at the contents in the box. It was a Razor Rat, with nothing special about it, “Is this a prank?”
Just as he wondered what reason the Celestial Boar had to present him with a Razor Rat, there was a small note in the box, containing two words, ’Kill it.’
Instinctively, Torq removed a few patches of the Razor Rat’s skin for storage, just in case. And then, he crushed the other party’s head, suddenly noticing a pillar of light emerge out to reach a height of six metres.
“A pillar of light?” The moment he saw its appearance, Torq burst into laughter, “I love this gift, Ancestor!”
He plunged his index finger into the flesh of the Razor Rat and made contact with the organ at the bottom of the pillar of light. Upon contact, the pillar of light vanished as its source had fused into his body.
Minor Treasure–Storage Lantern!
“What the…fuck?” It came as a stunner, for never in his wildest expectations did Torq expect such a Minor Treasure, ’Something like this exists?’
This Minor Treasure had fused with his skeletal system, immediately unleashing its influence on him, which upon some observation, came as another stunner, ’Its influence is actually beneficial to me?’
The Minor Treasure’s influence was applicable only to his skeletal system, and focused on increasing the toughness of the bones. And as the influence permeates through the bones better, it will resonate with the Prana being carried by the blood to serve as a stimulator for knowledge.
Basically, if Torq tries to recall something, his bones will also help in triggering the respective memory. This was it. The influence had somehow been geared to only be beneficial for his needs, without any side effects.
’This is spectacular!’ Torq was stunned, as just the benefits he gained from the Minor Treasure’s influence was worth it as a gift. And then, there was the actual function of the Minor Treasure.
Upon activation, a Storage Lantern appeared beside him, with the top designed to bear the head of a mammoth. For some reason, its eyes strangely seemed intelligent, but there wasn’t sentience within it once Torq inspected it.
The lantern had been divided into ten floors in total, and Torq noticed that with a thought, he could cause the number of floors to change, ’This changes everything!’
