Chapter 190: Impressive Minor Treasure
Each floor in the Minor Treasure of Storage Lantern was shaped like a cube, with its sides spanning a length of 20 metres, totaling to a volume of 8000 cubic metres. There were ten such floors, creating a ginormous storage space.
There was one issue with using a Storage Lantern, which was accessing its contents. When in a shrunk state, the contents of a Storage Lantern couldn’t be accessed.
To access the contents, the space within the Storage Lantern has to synchronise with the real world, which happens once the Storage Lantern expands to its original size.
Typical storage lanterns held only a cubic metre of space within them. So, even though they were a bit inconvenient, a metre in expansion wasn’t an issue, as majority of the cultivators used single storey Storage Lanterns.
A 10-storey Storage Lantern, upon reaching its original size, reached a height of 10 metres.
Torq’s Storage Lantern had the same constrictions, making it extremely eye-catching upon use. After all, at its original size, it reached a height of 200 metres. This was just for the floors. The mammoth head atop it added another 20 metres to the height.
Thankfully, the Minor Treasure was equipped with another function that solved this issue to a certain extent.
As he activated it, Torq focused on the mammoth head, which promptly retracted nine floors into itself, as if it were a sink hole. Now, the mammoth head rested upon a single floor, which Torq had chosen to open.
This way, when Torq opens the Storage Lantern, it only has to expand to a floor’s worth, which is relatively bearable.
Seeing the mammoth head swallow nine floors, Torq was pretty amazed. “Even though there are some restrictions on freely using it, this is still incredible!”
He eyed AuraBuntara, “My chances of survival have increased tremendously.”
“I’m glad,” AuraBuntara felt a bit more relieved, since with a Storage Lantern in hand, Torq didn’t have to worry too much in terms of food and other resources, at least for a short while.
Of course, with a Spectral Boar’s consumption, he will consume through all the food in a short while. But at least, it will help during an emergency. Also, there were plenty of enemies in Nusantara Continent, which Torq could consume.
“I’ll begin preparations now.” Saying as such, Torq began to pack all his research materials, including his accumulated reserve of Nectar. Leaving behind a set of his skin collection as a last reserve, Torq packed the rest.
Putting all eggs in one basket was foolish. So, he kept a backup. The reserve set of skins were rolled up into a neat container and tucked in a hidden compartment within the floor, at a corner, underneath his messy array of clothes.
Then, with his sister’s help, Torq brought the luggage to the basement under their home, which served as a training room for the Wean Clansmen who intended to fight in their Empyrean Boar forms.
There was plenty of ceiling and floor space here, enough for Torq to bring out one floor of the Storage Lantern at its original size, “Damn!”
He eyed the massive structure that had appeared before him, reaching a height of 40 metres, commenting upon focusing on the mammoth head at the top, “This is no different to a house.”
He patted the walls and chuckled, “House? This is made using the tusk of an Empyrean Tusk”
“I can literally hide within it when faced with powerful attacks.” After all, the tusk of the Empyrean Tusk was the toughest material in all of Sumatra.
He converted a floor’s worth into his research lab, added shelves for the storage of skins, body parts of multiple Pets he had worked on, etc. He pasted his research notes across the wall, truly utilizing every inch of the space.
One floor was purely for conducting experiments. Another floor was to store the medicines and Elixirs he had created. He planned to buy as much as he could next to fill them to the brim.
The third floor was a storage place for every experimental body part that had been treated and preserved for further research. The fourth floor was meant as a library, where Torq added all his stockpile of scrolls and Information Slips.
The bulk of the information was stored in Information Slips. He then placed a reserve of blank scrolls, on which he could imprint information when necessary, to help with a brainstorming session.
In the rest of the floors, he planned to fill with food, weapons, and any other necessities that he might need in the future. Since he was planning to bring the Roshmon Pet with him to the expedition, he had to gather resources that could be consumed by the Roshmon too.
Once he had assorted all the goods from his house, Torq began to make a list of what he had to purchase. By the time he was done, another day had been born, which meant he could finally start his journey preparations.
Torq had enough skin patches to make any Pet of his choice. So, he wasn’t worried about most situations. Of course, he could only make one Pet per day.
So, in certain situations, he would be spending multiple days on something that could have taken mere minutes, had he been prepared enough.
Hence, he created a Boutique Lizard Pet and consumed it, gaining its Tangible Nature.
Now, there were two Tangible Natures in his stomach. If he were to use Tangible Natures of Pets of himself to store two Tangible Natures each, he could have the Tangible Natures of four Pranic Beasts in total.
He had the resources necessary to reach that point when necessary. For the time being, he refrained from doing so, afraid of the influence truly screwing him in the butt.
The Boutique Lizard’s influence would harm him in the long run, but its means allowed Torq to wield a level of versatility that would truly help him survive through most situations.
Hence, once he obtained the Boutique Lizard’s Tangible Nature, he made it consume a Yoked Wyrm, to obtain its genetic material.
Now, at a thought from him, the Boutique Lizard would spawn Yoked Wyrms en masse, which would take care of food issues during an emergency. After all, Yoked Wyrms were able to rapidly expand their numbers by relying on trees.
And they were decently packed with nutrition too, enough to satisfy a Spectral Boar’s needs.
“Next, I’ll have to go on a round of purchases.” Torq muttered and exited the house, ’There’s one place I have to go before the expedition starts.’
’It’s the most mysterious place in the Wean Clan.’ He thought and smiled, ’There, I can obtain a level of power unlike anything else I can gain at the moment.’
