Chapter 193: Four Requirements
Gold Varahan Library!
The moment Torq entered it, he noticed powerful presences lock onto his position for a couple seconds. Uniformly, they all noticed the ticket in his possession and retracted soon after.
“Welcome, Lord GaraBuntara.” A Wean Clansman approached him and made a formal bow, “I am SaeKera, the aide in charge of guiding all Wean Clansmen through the library.”
The Wean Clansman seemed pretty young at first glance. However, her eyes looked like they belonged to a wizened veteran who had significantly grown in age. She had a 10-Life Stage cultivation, and was the sole Wean Clansmen operating in the Gold Varahan Library.
A glance through the library, and Torq noticed a few more of SaeKera’s bodies roaming around, organising materials, interacting with the Librarians, etc.
“Is it alright for you to split your bodies like this?” He expressed his concern, for SaeKera had split off all ten bodies from her Life Stage stack.
Once split, every split body had a Body Stage cultivation, which limited their Spirit Weapon range to 180 metres. And in the massive library, they were all moving about while outside the Spirit Weapon range of each other.
This meant their minds weren’t in sync anymore, which created an issue of influence. If the influence pertaining to each body becomes different, then making the stack would no longer be feasible.
It was like building a skyscraper with ten floors. The higher the floors, the greater the strain through the support beams. The faintest winds cause the skyscraper to sway greatly, which gets more and more pronounced the higher the floors get.
The floors have to be built perfectly so that the stack remains stable.
The Life Stage stack followed the same principle. Moreover, all the floors here have to be identical, since the bodies in the stack generally get moved across the floors, depending on the situation at hand.
Only if every floor is extremely perfect will the stack remain stable. Otherwise, it’ll implode. And at the 10-Life Stage, even the slightest difference in the influence within different bodies gets magnified enough to collapse the stack.
Therefore, none at such a level would ever resort to splitting off their bodies. SaeKera was pretty much flirting with death by keeping her bodies split for extended durations.
“It doesn’t matter.” Was all SaeKera said, “None of my bodies will ever come within the Spirit Weapon range of each other. So, our minds will never synchronise with each other.”
At present, if she were to enter the Spirit Weapon range of another body of hers, the minds of the two will synchronize its different memories and experiences. If there are enough differences, a searching headache would appear, with a significant chance of the Spirit Container shattering in response.
“Alright,” He did express momentary concern, but since the other party knew what she was doing, he didn’t bother with it further and instead got to the task at hand, “I wish to purchase Skills.”
“Describe what you need your Skills to achieve, and I’ll bring the respective Skills to you.” SaeKera brought Torq to an enclosed room with a large sofa placed against a table and pulled up a scroll to note down the instructions.
“My constitution as a Spectral Boar is as such, I always feel hunger towards everyone around me.” Torq explained his first need, “I need a Skill capable of switching off this hunger when needed.”
“Hmm…” SaeKera closed her eyes and frowned, saying a few seconds later, “There isn’t an exact Skill for that. We do have four Skills with somewhat similar effects.”
“You’ll need to commission the Library,” She then asked, “Do you have any time limit for the same?”
“Three days,” Torq responded, “I need the Skill within three days.”
“Then the Skill’s development has to be assigned the highest priority.” SaeKera made a mental calculation, “It will drive up the cost to staggering levels.”
“9850 Credits,” She concluded and eyed Torq, “That’s how much it will cost you to create this Skill within the time limit.”
“Not an issue,” Torq had the Vara Lantern given by the Celestial Boar, which was no different from a blank check of sorts. For the next three days, the price for anything he purchases will be taken care of by the Wean Clan.
“I’ll assign it immediately,” SaeKera said upon seeing the Vara Lantern placed on the table by Torq. A glance at the Vara Lantern, and she felt her head spin a little, allowing her to recognise it.
This Vara Lantern was carved with the face of the Celestial Boar, and served as an indicator for the highest quality Vara Lantern that had a limited number in the entirety of the Wean Clan and Varahan Empire combined.
It had a storage limit of 90,000 Credits, which was more than enough to splurge and still have an excess.
“Secondly,” Torq stated his requirements once SaeKera put up the Skill commission to the Librarians, “I need a Skill that allows me to gather and circulate a larger quantity of Prana within my body.”
“We already have a Skill for that.” SaeKera eyed Torq once, intending to ask if the price would be okay for him. However, a glance at the Vara Lantern, and she chuckled, ’He has plenty of money to spare.’
“I’ll bring it here shortly.” She bowed in response.
“Third,” Torq stated his next requirement, “I need a Skill capable of shaving off or reducing the influence plaguing me.”
“We have a few varieties for it.” SaeKera nodded, “I’ll bring them here alongside their respective description. You can make your choice after that.”
“I need the Glove Slip Skill.” He stated his next requirement.
“You need the Ancestor’s permission to purchase it…” SaeKera instinctively replied and paused upon staring at the Vara Lantern, “Understood. Seems you already have his exclusive permission. I apologise for it.”
“It’s alright,” Torq smiled, “Lastly, I need a patch of skin from all the Librarians…”
Before Torq could even finish his statement, he noticed SaeKera shaking her head, straight up denying the requirement, “Why?”
“I’m meant to give this to you, if you ever made that requirement.” SaeKera handed a small scroll to him, barely five centimetres in breadth.
Curious, Torq opened the scroll, which unfurled to a length of twenty centimetres and sported a single statement.
[Make do with what you own. That’s the key to achieving versatility.]
“Did the Ancestor give you this?” Torq asked, frowning upon seeing SaeKera only reveal a faint smile in response, ’She’s refusing to answer.’
’Fine, so be it.’ Torq considered things for a moment, ’I already have what I need for now. Maybe it’s better if I focus on increasing my skill level for my existing build to the peak, before considering adding another Tangible Nature to my skillset.’
It did make sense the more he thought about it, as having too many Natures only made him weaker than mastering the versatile use of one Nature. That was his original intention too, ’I guess I was momentarily blinded by greed.’
“That’s it, then.” He said.
“I’ll bring you all the Skills in a few minutes.” Saying so, SaeKera walked away.
