Chapter 2320: The lively atmosphere in the Meeting Hall… disappeared.
The mood at the dining table was cheerful and lively, the children stayed with their father, that allowed the women to return to their usual groups.
The entire hall was filled with soft noise, plates shifting, quiet laughter, and small conversations between different groups.
The long table, despite its size, didn’t feel distant.
It felt… alive.
All the children sat either on his lap or on his shoulders. Nyx sat on top of his head, the little girl was usually silent and almost always gave in to whatever, but this was one thing she never gave up on, no matter what.
This was her spot.
Selene sat on his shoulder, swung her legs lightly as she ate from his plate without asking. Mira leaned against him, happily chewing on something sweet, while whispering something into his ear with giggles, Nux reacted to every single thing she said.
Kira sat properly on his lap, chewing her food silently.
Noctis sat nearby with a straight posture. He ate slowly, calmly, his gaze occasionally shifting toward the others. Drakar and Zyrax were still arguing.
“I told you, that last strike wasn’t enough.”
“It was enough.”
“It wasn’t.”
“It was.”
Ragnar leaned forward, being with his father was the only time he didn’t have his sword in his hand, or at least around him.
“You both wasted that fight,”
He said.
“Next time, don’t stop.”
Frostra sat beside him.
“You say that now, but you won’t be the one fixing what breaks.”
Ragnar shrugged.
“Then don’t let it break.”
“You will break it 87% of the time.”
Orion, who was sitting a little further away from them, commented without looking at them.
“…you’re annoying.”
“I am correct.”
“Are you saying Brother Ragnar is wrong? Does that mean you are stronger than him?”
Velora asked as she looked at Orion with an amused look. The moment Ragnar heard those words, he reacted—
“Huh? What makes you think you are stronger than me?”
He was ready for a fight, but—
Seraphyne gently placed a hand on Velora’s shoulder and—
“That’s enough.”
She spoke in a soft tone.
Orion too, looked at Ragnar,
“You know she is trying to make us fight.
Not here.”
Ragnar turned silent too.
Caelum sat quietly, Eloria listened to others curiously, at the same time, she picked food and fed her father with a bright, excited smile. An offer Nux just couldn’t refuse.
Sable rested on her father’s lap, this was one of the few places where she completely let her guard down around, that made her lazy.
Azarion, knowing she wouldn’t eat like this, fed his little sister, Sable, trusting him, continued to get pampered.
The other children mostly kept to themselves, but they interacted with Nux in their own way. Some just liked being around him, some were showing him what they learned and how good they had gotten.
The women too, were talking amongst themselves, each sharing everything their children did. The Progenitors did the same, with the children present, they were all these people talked about. Of course, some Progenitors were just fighting, especially Dagahra, who was now being questioned about why he took Ignira away and didn’t bring her back.
It was lively, comfortably lively.
Until…
Caesar, who was sitting on his chair, observing everything silently, until finally, he took another bite of the food they were served and—
“Nux.”
He called out.
The conversations didn’t stop instantly, but they indeed slowed down, some of the children stopped too.
Caesar knew this would be the best attention he would get, plus, Nux was already staring at him, so the rest didn’t matter. He directly asked the question he wanted to ask.
“Why did you call all of us here?”
And the instant he asked that question, in an instant—
The entire hall turned silent.
This was something everyone wanted to know.
Nux didn’t answer immediately, he observed everyone present, his children, his wives, and the Progenitors and then—
The warmth in his expression faded slightly, a change even Mira noticed instantly.
“Father…?”
She called out, slightly worried.
Zyrax, Drakar, Ignira, Frostra, and Ragnar instantly recognized that look, it was the one he had when he sparred against them.
Nux straightened his posture and finally—
“From now on…”
He began.
“…I will be locking this Universe.
No one will leave.”
He spoke with a solemn look on his face, his eyes glanced at everyone, until they stopped on one particular woman.
Aeliana.
Aeliana was one of the women who left the Universe the most, especially after Samael.
Samael was… Azriel’s grandson and Azriel, because of everything he had been through, was extremely doting on him.
This was also the reason he called Samael time and time again and Aeliana, using these chances, left to meet her father as well.
But right now…
As Aeliana looked at Nux’s expression, she understood what he was saying.
She wasn’t supposed to leave either.
“What happened…?”
She asked with a serious look on her face.
She had known Nux for a long time, she knew he wouldn’t stop her without any reason. If he was stopping them—
Then something must have happened.
Something serious.
It wasn’t just her, the rest of the women understood that too. Even the children sensed something was wrong.
They all looked at Nux and Nux…
“The War between Light and Darkness is over.”
He announced with a serious look on his face and—
“What!?”
“What are you talking about!?”
“Over!?”
The reactions were instantaneous.
The last thing they knew, the War was only getting more heated. Many worlds had perished, both sides had taken strong hits and the anger was boiling.
This obviously wasn’t the peak of the War, but the tensions were rising and they were rising at a strong rate.
The War shouldn’t stop…
Not right now.
There was no reason for it to stop.
But…
“It is over.”
Nux spoke with a grim look on his face.
And that was when Amaya noticed something—
“And…?”
She asked.
Nux looked at her and she explained.
“What else? You wouldn’t look this tense just because the War is over.”
The Devourer questioned.
Yes, the War was important for Nux. Because of the chaos it caused, it made it easier for him to devour the worlds, so much so that at this point, Nux doesn’t even go and devour worlds himself.
He just… sends a hunting party.
The Dragon trick was great to induce fear, but in the end, Nux knew it had its limit, for the first few times, it wouldn’t make a difference, but if the same creature continued to attack again and again, even the Infinities would have no choice but to attack it.
They would not stand still and let it do whatever it pleased, it was a matter of pride.
So Nux created these… hunting parties.
All these parties had one of his clones capable of connecting the world they were attacking to him, once the connection was made, it allowed Nux to devour those particular worlds, without leaving his Universe.
But…
“Last five hunting parties have disappeared and the last thing my clones saw was one of the Infinities attacking them.”
Nux revealed.
“What…?”
And the women widened their eyes in shock.
“But that… shouldn’t be possible…”
Amaya frowned.
“The hunting parties are now as efficient as you were…”
She muttered.
And it was true.
While only ten years had passed in Nux’s Universe, about a hundred had passed in the Main Universe, and in these hundred years, Nux has constantly been sending hunting parties and training them to be more and more efficient.
At this point, they had reached a level that was similar to his own.
Yes, like how Nux, while he was targeting Light Worlds, was so quick that by the time Seraphielle learned one of her worlds was being attacked, it was already over and Nux had disappeared together with the world.
This was the reason Seraphielle couldn’t stop Nux, this was the reason the entire ordeal had become so complicated for Light that it had no choice but to push far to cause a distraction for its people.
The hunting parties had reached that level of efficiency as well.
Nux had devoured more than fifty High Level Worlds, all those Eternals that ruled those worlds were at his complete disposal, some of these Eternals also had Absolute Laws, not to mention Nux had devoured a good number of Light-born Eternals, heck, he even had the Strongest Child of Light at his disposal.
Nux’s army was strong.
Ridiculously strong, they were capable of leveling any world that is not a Supreme World almost instantly, with this army subduing the world’s forces, together with his clone, that had learned to form a connection between his main body and the world they were in, devouring a world had become an instantaneous activity.
Stopping it had become impossible.
Unless…
Unless the enemy already knew they were coming.
Which should have been impossible as well, because just like Nux, his hunting party has no connection to the Main Universe, no being should be able to sense their presence, not unless they attack first.
But the fact that the hunting parties have disappeared, that too, five times, each one being intercepted by an Infinity—
It meant…
“Yes, the Infinities have figured out a way to know what world we are targeting and they are now actively moving to stop us.”
Nux spoke, and the instant he confirmed what the women were thinking—
The lively atmosphere in the Meeting Hall… disappeared.
