The Broken Halo - Chapter 357: Explosion

Chapter 357: 357: Explosion
The moment Simon stepped onto the top of the wall, the difference was immediate.
The wind was stronger here, sweeping across the exposed height and carrying ash and dust along with it. From this angle, the top of the northern tower was no longer something distant.
The upper section of the tower was partially destroyed, just like he had seen from below.
One side had collapsed inward, leaving jagged openings and broken stone exposed to the outside.
That was their entry point.
But it wasn’t undefended.
Simon shifted his gaze from the tower to his surroundings, and he could see Bulwarks.
And they were many.
At a glance, he counted fifty Bulwarks and many of them radiated the auras of Archfiends.
The top of the wall was big enough to hold many Bulwarks.
However, they were not the biggest issues.
’Two Greater Demons.’
Simon narrowed his eyes as he looked at the two large Bulwark demons who were sending out orders to other Bulwarks to rain their attacks on the members of the clan below.
The Bulwarks had not perceived their appearance yet because all of them made very little sound to reach the top and also because they were all proficient when it came to hiding their auras.
Another very important reason why the Bulwarks were unaware of their presence is because they were completely focused on the battle occuring inside their home.
How would they expect their enemies to suddenly appear behind them when they had been fighting this battle for a long time now.
Simon looked at the captain, but the captain’s gaze was on the Bulwark who was a Greater Demon.
He waved two of his fingers, directing them at the Bulwarks, then they moved.
They didn’t run or rush. Instead, they approached the Bulwarks calmly and quietly, the loud sounds of the battle helped them in this situation.
Each of them picked their targets, and in their hands was a weapon, all except Simon.
Some of the Bulwarks were Fiends, but Simon chose an Archfiend Bulwark to kill.
As he approached the Bulwark from behind, he felt like a predator sneaking up on his prey, and it felt very natural to him.
The moment he got close to the Bulwark, he did not hesitate.
He jumped, curled his legs around the Bulwark’s neck, then he pierced the Bulwark’s eyes.
Puchi!
“ARRRGGGHHH!!!”
The Bulwark demon could not react to Simon’s attack because Simon was so quick, swift, and precise.
The Bulwarks to his left and right were taken aback by the sudden scream, then they looked at Simon and their comrade.
A fraction of a second later, more screams began to echo, and the Bulwarks were extremely baffled by what was going on.
As for Simon, he jumped off the Bulwark, then he kicked him off the wall.
The Bulwark was not dead, but the fall would definitely kill him.
Immediately Simon landed on the wall, he dashed forward and appeared in front of the Bulwark demon to his right.
His fist glowed with a dark emerald-orange demonic light, then it landed on the Bulwark demon.
Bang!
The Bulwark was sent flying off the wall.
He was not dead, and Simon knew this. His aim was not to kill them since the tools he had were not effective.
So, he would just punch them away or off the wall.
After punching the third Bulwark demon off the wall, the remaining Bulwark demons finally came to their senses.
They finally understood that they were under attack, and that the situation was becoming dire.
Simon’s eyes flickered as he rolled to the side and dodged a boulder that flew his way.
Bang!
The boulder crashed into the parapet of the wall and shattered it before falling on whatever unfortunate clan member or Bulwark.
Simon’s eyes darted around, and he saw that the Bulwarks were about to encircle him, he wisely dashed out of the encirclement.
However, a wall shot out of the ground, blocking his path.
Simon’s eyes flashed coldly and he sent out a punch coated with demonic energy.
Bang!
To the disbelief of the Bulwarks around him, the wall instantly shattered, and they could not help but wonder what sort of strength and control Simon had.
“All of you. Out of the way!”
Simon looked at the captain, and without hesitation, he dashed to the edge of the wall and fell from it.
He was not the only one to do this.
The other members of the squad did the same after hearing the shout of their captain.
The Bulwarks were confused when they saw the assassins retreat, but the smart ones amongst the Bulwarks saw that the assassins had not retreated.
Some were hanging from the parapet, while some were standing horizontally on their northern wall.
What was going on?
“FUCKING ASSASSINS! GET DOWN!”
The roar of one of their captains shook the air, but the Bulwarks could not react in time.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The first years who were watching this battle had wide eyes when they saw what just happened.
Unknowingly to the Bulwarks, Simon and the remaining shadow blades had brought majority of the Bulwarks to the center of the wall top, so they were all in a line.
The captain fired an arrow, and this arrow was dark grey and made out metal.
It tore through the bodies of ten Bulwarks, and it also pierced the chest of one of the Bulwark captains.
It couldn’t pierce through Bulwark captain’s body or kill it.
However, the arrow suddenly exploded, completely killing the Bulwark captain.
The shockwave of the explosion sent many Bulwarks flying and it also caused more damage to the wall top.
The shards of the arrow pierced the bodies of the Bulwarks, and some unfortunate Bulwarks had their eyes or skull pierced by the shards of the arrow.
Though many Bulwarks died, some Bulwarks were fortunate and were alive.
The second Bulwark captain tried to protect as many Bulwark soldiers as possible, and those closest to him were the ones that survived.
A few seconds later, Simon and the remaining shadow blades jumped back to the top of the wall.
