The Broken Halo - Chapter 390: The Mad Scientist’s Deeds

Chapter 390: 390: The Mad Scientist’s Deeds
No longer did Ari have her playful and lust filled expression.
Her expression was now completely serious and even somewhat grave as she looked at the cover of the two books.
Simon tilted his head slightly as he observed her.
She opened the book, flipped the pages one after the other, then she stopped and looked at Simon with a serious expression.
“These two books were in this floor of the library? Not the lower floors?” She said with a serious expression.
Simon raised a brow and gave her a strange look.
“I don’t have the authority to go to the lower floors, so how could I have gone there to take the books?”
Ari’s expression became more serious, and she took another glance at the books.
“Is there a problem with the books?” Simon asked.
Ari did not respond immediately. A few seconds later, she released a deep sigh and looked at Simon.
“Why in the world did you choose these two techniques? Do you want to die? Don’t you know how dangerous these two techniques are?”
Simon raised a brow and gave her a strange look.
“Is that why you have such an expression? Because you’re worried about me dying?”
Ari was taken aback, then she scoffed immediately.
“What the fuck? Hell no. You can die whenever you want you cold, sexy, heartless, cruel, and tantalising virgin of a man.”
Simon had the weirdest expression one could ever make the moment Ari said these words.
’What is wrong with her?’
Though, he had a few things he wanted to say, he decided to keep them to himself.
Ari, continued talking.
“First of all, nobody in their right senses chooses these two techniques. Any book or technique of the Mad Scientist is a red flag because it can fucking made you mad!”
Simon chuckled softly and nodded slightly.
“I see… Don’t worry, I know the dangers of the book. I’ll be fine.”
Ari’s expression became unsightly and she looked at Simon with a completely displeased gaze.
“Do you even know about the Mad Scientist? Have you ever heard of him?”
Simon shook his head. “That’s the second reason why I’m here. I want to know about the Mad Scientist.”
Ari narrowed her eyes, then she leaned back and sat on her chair. She interlocked her fingers, then she placed her chin on it, giving Simon the same serious gaze she had from the moment she saw the two techniques of the Mad Scientist.
“What do you know about the Mad Scientist?”
Simon shook his head. “Nothing.”
Ari scoffed and nodded her head. “And you want to learn his techniques? How wise of you.”
Simon’s expression did not change despite the clear sarcasm that was in her tone. He wasn’t bothered by it in the slightest.
“The Mad Scientist is a bastard that causes chaos wherever he goes. He’s genuinely a mad man, and I’m not exaggerating. He acts like one.”
Simon raised a brow. “Have you encountered him before?”
Ari shook her head.
“No. If I had, I would most likely not be here talking to you.”
Simon tilted his head slightly, then he asked with curiosity in his tone.
“What do you mean?”
Ari released a soft sigh. “One thing about the Mad Scientist is that he’s very interested in races that specialize in the Mind Path.”
“He does mad experiments on demons and demons beasts alike, and he has destroyed tens of minor tribes and clans in the last six decades.”
“He’s even responsible for the destruction of some major tribes and clans.”
Simon’s eyes flickered with surprise, and he was even more curious about the Mad Scientist now.
“The Mad Scientist has also tried to destroy the Dream Clan, and I remember that battle. If not for the fact that the Mad Scientist was a Demon Lord when he attacked us, he would have destroyed the Dream Clan and used our bodies in one of his mad experiments.”
Simon looked at Ari with surprise.
“He attacked the entire Dream Clan as a Demon Lord? Isn’t the Dream Clan a major clan?”
Ari nodded. “Yes. We are. I was very young back then, so I couldn’t do anything but watch. But the Mad Scientist is powerful. Very powerful. He’s on the list of most wanted demons across the demon realm, and he’s highly ranked on that list.”
“The Mad Scientist has caused chaos in the demon realm, on earth, and I heard that he has even caused chaos in the realm of the gods at one point in time because a god attempted to descend in the demon realm to kill him.”
“I don’t know the details. I only know little about that event.”
Simon tilted his head and asked with a curious tone.
“There’s a most wanted list in the demon realm?”
Ari nodded. “Yeah. It’s not an official list, but it’s based on a demon’s reputation and notoriety.”
“I heard that among the upper echelons of the demon realm, there are those that don’t want the Mad Scientist to become a Demon King.”
“He has caused so much havoc as a Demon Lord, who knows what he would do as a Demon King.”
Simon narrowed his eyes and gave Ari a suspicious look.
“You seem to know a lot for a librarian.”
Ari chuckled softly. “Have you forgotten that at the end of the day, I’m an assassin and a member of the Shadowgrave Clan? Information and espionage is my specialty.”
Simon’s eyes flickered with a calculating light, then he looked at the two techniques of the Mad Scientist.
“So, the reason why you were agitated when you saw the two techniques is because the Mad Scientist attacked your clan and because of his notoriety.”
“Would I be targeted for using the techniques of the Mad Scientist?”
He shifted his gaze to Ari, and she shook her head.
“No. You would not. The techniques of the Mad Scientist are not known to the public, only a small percentage would know it’s his technique.”
She paused and looked at the two techniques.
“But I can’t help but wonder why these two techniques are here. They should be in the restricted floor of the library.”
Simon raised a brow. “Because it’s a technique of the Mad Scientist?”
Ari shook her head.
“That’s not the only reason. The techniques are dangerous, and if an arrogant or confident student decides to take it and practice it, he or she might die.”
“No matter what, that’s an unnecessary loss to the clan.”
