The First Legendary Beast Master - Chapter 1740 No Fleeing

Chapter 1740 No Fleeing
Remi laughed and cast a Lightning Bulwark to prevent the survivors from fleeing the illusionary world, while Rae stalked over, incorporeal but in human form with a slender dagger in either hand.
Dana left her to her work, while Opal began to modify the illusion around them for dramatic effect.
The [Soul Harvest] skill had already greatly weakened them, and the mental damage of being crippled by Oathbreaker was weakening their defences even more, and their Immortal Bodies were eroding at a visible pace, with the energy flowing into Opals space, as she had no skill for immediately storing it. She would absorb it later, using the energy as food, but unlike Rae, who could absorb life essence directly, she needed to refine it first.
In a way, it felt like the difference between eating your food raw and cooking it. The amount of Immortal Essence that she had managed to harvest from these hapless warriors was truly astounding. They still hadn’t realized that they were being drained dry by the separate space they were in, and they might not even realize that Rae was an actual person, not one of the ghostly illusions that Opal had sent shifting through the shadows.
She was quite proud of this show. The fear, the confusion, the absolute, devastating defeat of an arrogant enemy.
It had it all.
Except a challenge. It had been a bit too easy, and none of them had even managed to put up a proper fight against Dana’s Golems. One of them didn’t even manage to take one full strike from the Dana Mage, and it wasn’t even her specialty skill.
Technically, it had been her Class’s greatest finishing move, but that had been two advancements ago, so surely it didn’t really count.
Opal wasn’t entirely certain how the priority of finishing moves went when you advanced in classes, but this one did have some definite style points in its favour. Even if it might not be as great of a finishing move as her new one. Wait… Did the Golem Mistress even get a finishing move? It focused on constructs and summoned helpers. It wasn’t really a direct combat class.
So, that fancy flower blossom spell might actually be the hardest hitting spell that Dana knew.
Now that she thought of it, all Dana’s best skills were from the last couple advanced classes, where her skills focused more on blades than new mage spells of the conventional sort.
She needed theme music too.
Opal had been working on a specific theme for Karl before Tian started playing [Inspiration] tunes all the time. Those worked pretty well for the Karl, but Dana needed something cuter and softer to match her appearance.
Tian’s songs could be lovely. But [Inspiration] was a battle song, and it didn’t really suit Dana’s vibe.
In Opal’s opinion, that should be something that was more “Princess surrounded by Knights” and less “War God has arrived”.
That was what Karl’s theme music sounded like. A bit intimidating, energetic and vaguely ominous, if you couldn’t see the tiny white ball of fluff that was playing it.
Opal was certain that was not right for Dana.
Dana ignored the overactive little Fae, who was still helping Rae traumatize the warriors before she eventually killed them, and focused on the task at hand. “Good Sir. I believe that this is the book you wanted. Golem, suitable for all sorts of mages. I informed your younger daughter that I would take payment in crafting materials or exchange.”
The Lycan smiled and took out a bag full of metals and gems.
“If these are the crafting materials you want, I will happily trade you. They are worth about the same as an Uncommon Grade skill like Golems.”
Dana let the system tell her what was in the bag when she held it, then she nodded and passed over the skill book.
“It’s been a pleasure doing business with you. Sorry about dragging you into a pocket dimension like this, I will let you out in a moment. The Forest Trickster is the one that made it, so I don’t have full access rights.”
The Lycan nodded. “As long as my daughter is safe. I assume so, as everyone who was causing trouble was pulled into this space with us. But if they had reinforcements, they might have come after the Library”
Dana nodded. “I don’t think that they would attack bystanders in the Library, the guards will have arrived not long after the fight started.
Hopefully, they won’t give us trouble for fighting in the city, but we did take it to a separate space without damaging anything in the Library at all, so likely not too much trouble.
Especially when there won’t be any bodies.”
The Lycan chuckled. “That spider is a real piece of work. Sure, she’s not
ascended yet, but the amount of damage that she can do with a single hit is insane. I can only imagine the terror of the Clans when she does advance through the Ranks.
I take it that she is a friend of yours?”
Dana nodded. “She’s bonded to my husband, and honorarily in the New Home
Clan, as they recognize his beasts as part of the team.”
The Lycan smiled. “That is a brilliant strategy on the part of the Elders. I take it that the Naga Matriarch is one of your husband’s bonded beasts as well? She appears to be good friends with Elder Socrate.”
Dana laughed. “Indeed. They’re both Alchemists, and I think that at this point, she actually spends more time with the Elder than with everyone else
combined.
Even today when we came out shopping after a dungeon run, she dragged him along to the Library, and I just tagged along to keep them company. And so that I didn’t get forced to be the fashion model for the day.
Lady Rae has a thing for silk clothing”
The Lycan chuckled. “It’s like cocooning people, but without them objecting and whining. I know a few spiders, and they all keep a bit of that predator to
them.”
